I've loved this song since I was a kid. I have very eclectic taste, so I do like other Mathis songs too. I think he does the best version of "You Light Up My Life". This is however my absolute fave from him:)
there is a comp called "we love disco" from 2005(?) from centaur entertainment out of nyc and florida. amazing discs (from england) and this is one of approx 25 songs. grab it while you can....mixes into "i love the nightlife"
An unusual but killer dance track from a true legend. Track down his original verson of "Life Is A Song Worth Singing" from his Philly Soul period and compare it to Teddy Pendergrass' version (with the SAME backing track).
This was not originally a disco song. It was remixed from "Best years of my life" album which I have to admit I borrowed. It was remixed and released as a single at the height of disco. I have always been a closet JM fan: his voice is so smooth and silky and the range of his pitch is wonderfully impressive...
I didn't remember this song back in the day. I like it! It sounds like a Johnny Mathis song with a disco beat, not a cookie cutter disco song with Johnny Mathis thrown on top. It has the same kind of lush arrangement as classic Mathis. And he doesn't oversing it.
Mine too!!! I remember dancing to this at the most famous west coast disco of all time, The Trocadero Transfer in San Franisco 1980. Fabulous memories!

You must've been talking to the wrong people :-),
I know I'm a saddo, but l bought this on 7" when it came out in GB in '79.
He to me at the time was just so cheeesssssy, this was a funky tune even for JM, but I didn't care.
Listening to this version for the 1st time, sounds like it's the song played twice
