I agree with pokesurfer. You need to bring out whichever voice the subject is in most strongly, whether it be alto or tenor or bass or soprano. All I can hear is the right hand. More dynamics would also make it a more enjoyable musical experience.
here was a 4 year old girl all by her self in her house and she was watching TV all of the suden the TV turned off and she heard a voice from outside she looked outside her window and she saw a bloody face........
1. send this to 5 differnt videos or else this bloody face will show up at your house and kill you I DONT WANNA BE DEAD
hmmm...ps ps...what did u get for ur ARCT? and specifically, can u tell me what pieces u played and what each of their marks are? i'm taking mine in august 20, 2008 at Euromusic Centre in Markham, ON lol
ok...bach's music is CHORAL, meaning you need to emphasize each of the three voices in the fugue whenever each of their themes comes along, so when the bass voice has the theme, play the the soprano/alto SOTTO VOCE...just beware of this point...it's a common Bach thing...
It's quite ignorant to write "P.S. This is how the prelude "should" be played. I saw this video of this guy totally messing with the prelude which pissed me off." and not do it perfectly yourself. You misses the trills in the fugue, and the tempo is very jumpy. Yeah, I know. Give me thumbs down if you like to, but that's fact, and not only my opinion.
lol i kinda rushed parts of the pieces, if you look on youtube there are some that take the piece quite slowly, sometimes too slow, but my performance is a bit faster than necessary because my teacher prefered it a bit faster since then it creates more excitement, but it all depends on your style.
no your tips are valid and are appreciated, and i do agree the fugue is slightly fast because this piece was taken quite a while ago, now i have already finished my ARCT exam. good luck on this piece!
I have my AMEB piano exam soon. (it's Australian) and I'm working on the song atm. Well, i just need to improve the speed. I just attempted to play it fast, at 152. But I couldnt quite catch up in one of the sections =="
Overall, well played! However, you need to work on the temperament between your fingers - try to prevent them from 'running' and keep them in time :) Also, work on the balance between the hands - I'll try to post a vid asap when I think my playing is good enough (which will be in a while ^_^)
I think that was really good. I am learning the prelude at the moment and I am finding it a bit hard to get up to speed. How long have you been playing? It's not perfect, but music is not about being perfect.
i've practsied that piece for about 6 months at the time of recording. try the play it slowly, the fugue doesnt go extremely fast, i was probably rushing a bit in the fugue, its most important to make sure the notes are even and detached.
i'm learning this at the minute too, i've kinda got the same problem - the fugue kinda tries to run ahead of itself, especially after the prelude! good job though!
Well, the Prelude at least is about moving your fingers at the right speed. It is pretty much a finger exercise. It has no written dynamics, not many accidentals, and no key or time signatures changes. It just tests how fluently and quickly you can play the notes. It is hard to play it with a lot of feeling because there isn't much room for feeling in the first place. I think the person who did this did a great job! Keep up the good work!
Reading the comment below the video (which nonetheless makes a point), I started watching with not too high expectations, but OH MY GOD! This is a fantastic performance! Not flawless, but maintaining the momentum and building up to that vexingly beautiful moment at 2:20. The WTC really is Bach's greatest body of keyboard music.
good!

especially since bach leaves NO markings in the score

It's actually meant to be quite fast. That was a good tempo :) Pity I can't play the fugue!

I'm scared. I don't think i can play this fast by the exam!

good job,
but keep your fingers very nice and even.
and have more dynamics.
i think the fugue is a bit too fast.
just tone it down a bit.
sorry if you dont like my tips,
but im playing this piece right now, and i love giving tips. :)

Waste of time. That was really bad. Why do you play it so dry? There is no music in your performance.

subtle dynamic contrasts between major and minor key change wouldn't hurt.

here's an idea: why don't you play it and record it yourself? show us how it's "supposed" to be played then.

Good effort. The fugue was played a bit too fast for your fingers to handle. A bit of slow hand separate practice will fix that though.
Good job.

yea, ur right, the fugue's a bit too fast, im slowing it down now though, thnx
