  • Nobody cares about the ball, but all a fan of Stefi Stefi .. how typical for unilateral view people..

They even started whistling to her, after she said just no.. and went just to the net...

    ..suit yourself people..

  • She was right, and only wanted the truth. As a young woman with some guts went to fight for it.. But only then she got a point down.., this is crazy! The umpire n lines have no clue..

She shouldn't get a point down..

I don't understand here you, haters people, who are saying she acted wrong.. and all the bad things about her.. You're wrong and out of reality..

She is the most honest n loving person I have ever known!

And best tennis player for me too..

    <3

  • @bobcoolway

You think every tennis player who "wants the truth" should be allowed to cross the net?

How often do you think Graf thought the linespeople were wrong but stayed on her side of the net anyway?

How do you explain away Hingis calling Mauresmo "half a man", Novotna "too old" and saying Graf's "time has passed"? How don't you understand that most decent people on this planet will rejoice when someone like this gets her ass handed by one of the oldtimers?

  • @Hoffenheim08

Ok so what you're saying is that, all you guys against her are decent, and her and us are bad,right..?

People always pick someone to blame all sh*t on..

Aslo, she went across the net, because they were hopeless.. What is so big deal..?

As a teenager, you should remember, people have some courage, and do some things, normaly wouldn't do..

People liked Graf, so was big deal, Hingis had some action, so all people were cruel to her..

But the ball was good, nobody cares..

  • @bobcoolway

    The ball was out.

  • @Hoffenheim08

How do you know? Umpire didn't even see it from up..

Nobody knew the ball was out.., even umpire nor linesman had no idea, and they were pointing one meter closer wrong. It was hit closer to the right side.. Look yourself, and then make judgement!

Only Graf saw it, because she had it just in front of her.., but of course, she didn't tell.. If she plays fair, she would round the spot at least..

Hey Hoff.., you must be a German or French, right??

    I'm thru now..

  • @Hoffenheim08 ;

.. also, Martina then went to see it and she were pointing exactly were she hit it.., so she knew.. and saw.

Even Graf knew,, but wouldn't tell.., well.. shame

    thru now..

    have a honest life mate..

  • Hingis is a legend and genius

all she said was true, and there is no out

Graf is also a legendary player

  • @aaa82yt

    A legend? Hingis??

    Don't be silly.

Winning 5 slam finals against Pierce, Novotna, 17-yo Venus, Martinez and Mauresmo is not exactly breath-taking ...

  • @Hoffenheim08 but you must admit she doesn't have any power, that makes her a uniqe player

  • @aaa82yt

Yes, a unique player. But not a "legend". Some people don't seem to know what this word means.

  • oh well *shrugs*

  • "Rolang" Garros should be played without crowd.Or only with australians and Londoners.

Or only with people that know the basics of tennis, politeness and other language than french

They should charge the tickets. Always

    Worst image of France

  • @sabane78

    Why this?

Because the like class and hate arrogant and classless bitches?

  • @Hoffenheim08 Even Mother Theresa of Calcutta could tranform in an arrogant classless bitch in RG: I don 't say M Hingis is not a arrogant classless bitch I don t know her óf course. She is just a proud teen that thinks he deserves to win and she acts like this two or three points (out or in) are the most important things in tennis history and in humankind history. It is quite embarrassing. The rest of the game it was painful to watch that day if you are not a Graf fan or a

  • @sabane78 brat hater. She is like a tennis freak that can ´t stand those "iniquities"

I think she was mad with the crowd for support Graf since minute 1 and celebrate her errors. The rest of the match It is so awful we should say: it was the last grand slam of the most successful tennis player ever and forget the rest

  • @sabane78

Which Hingis error was celebrated before this incident?

    Could you give an example?

Or are you simply lying as it so often the case with Hingis fans?

  • @Hoffenheim08

The crowd was definitely pro-Graf from the beginning. But that was no wonder as she was by far the most popular player in the 90s, especially at the end of her career.

And Hingis had insulted French player Mauresmo a few months before because she was gay.

But the mood became nasty only after this incident at 6-4 2-0. Hingis had it coming, she fully deserved the abuse, IMO.

  • @sabane78

Just check what Hingis said about Graf, Novotna and Mauresmo in 1998/99.

The French crowd cannot be praised enough for showing this brat who they think about her behaviour.

  • Must have been that time of the month.

  • Thats women for you

  • Martina Hingis is a bad sport

  • Martina Hingis is a bad sport

  • REALLY?! She made them bring out the directors of the tournement? even when it wasn't a critical point??

  • AMANDA LAMB FIDEL CASTRO WHEN DID HIS DAD DIE CUBAN GLASS OF WINE NUDE

  • I feel sorry for her. Reached the top at 17, 18 years. When she joked with Novotna after winning Wimbledon in 1997, Novotna was already 29 and still waiting to win Wimbledon. She would finally win it a year later, aged 30. Martina is 31 now, she should still be fit to play. I think her ambitious mother rushed things. It is not normal to retire at 22. Martina was taken to Switzerland aged 6, her mother didn't let her see her Dad.

  • Anyone can see that the umpires were pointing at a completely wrong spot at 0:20 , like a yard away really. Just compare to 0:54. You expect better refereeing at that level. But Hingis should´ve been above that, pity.

  • Wow... I didn't think it was this bad... Martina definitely overreacted.

  • losing control? not really...

I think the ball was in. The refree makes confusion, and she think it's clear. The crowd shouth against her. I really don't like what the crowd did.

  • The ball was out...

  • very poor

  • Even a half blind referee could see Hingis bold was inside the baseline. Here, Steffi is lousy sportswomen.

  • martina is madddd hott these days

  • honte a toi et ferme ta gueule alcapon16 de mon culcomme si graf avait besoin de tricher ah ah ah ah ah

  • I'm surpirsed nobody stabed hingis as well so graf has no opponents...

  • btch grafff

  • @cagri29 you are the greater bitch with extremely loose sexual part.

  • puffball serve, foul mouth, oversized ego -- Who could that player be?

  • Hingis complained about a wrong decision of the referee. And she was right to complain! but Steffi had no fair play at all and showed "ON PURPOSE" the wrong mark on the floor. Which is a total shame at this stage of the competition ! Hingis had all the right to be disgusted!!!!

Steffi DID NOT deserve to win, she cheated and then the whole "stupid french public" made the rest. One of the saddest final I've ever seen.

    Shame on you Graf! SHAME!

  • @alcapon16bis the world cannot allow an idiot like you, a blind cultist fanatic, to rewrite history.

  • @alcapon16bis

    Steffi "showed the wrong mark"?

In your wet dreams or what?

Where did she show anything, you dumb f***cker?

  • Of course she loose control, the ball wasn't out !!

  • Steffi was great back then, But she would be too skinny and weak to compete at a high level vs today's tennis players

  • hawk eye please! jajajaja

  • Quite funny to argue that 12 years later!

  • I actually believe Hingis had a point here (no pun intended). The umpire appeared to be unsure of where to find the mark and look in the wrong place. But Hingis's reaction was unnecessary.

  • crowd is stupid. Retarded jerks!

  • Comment removed

  • It's loses control, ok???

  • When Serena and Venus were younger. Richard would make them play against young boys who cheat. this made them stronger and if a call went against them that they knew was in they could handle it better

  • What's the big deal...??? She's playing In a major tournament and she felt that the wrong call was made and was sticking up for what she believed was right...I would never fault her for that. It's called Integrity...Sticking up for what you believe is right when everyone around you is telling you what you should think and do....screw the crowd...It's easy for them to sit back and critisize..It's not THERE ass on the line...there not playing for hundreds of thousands of dollars or a Grand Slam

  • @Cheops2112

    Hingis and "integrity"?

LOL - that was a good one ...

  • @Cheops2112 puffball serve, foul mouth, and oversized ego -- HINGIS WON HER SLAMS WHILE GRAF WAS INJURED OR NOT PLAYING

  • Martina was so right! the ball was in and instead of being 0-15 up, she ended up being 30-0 down, that's really unfair!

  • @kingofnamibia

    The ball was out.

  • @Hoffenheim08 The ball woz in!! she woz world no1 & hadnt acted like that b4 she knew it woz in & I knew it woz in & da whole fuckin crowd knew it woz in Y do u think da french r still in this day & age da only slam still nt 2use hawk eye???????? get me drift.........

  • @kevinandrew791

What has Wozniacki to do with anything?

  • @Hoffenheim08 I neva sed anythin bout Wozniacki luv er!!

  • @kevinandrew791

Dnt eva luv dat r8 u woz da?

  • @Hoffenheim08 SPEAK ENGLISH U MORON!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @kevinandrew791

Halt doch einfach das dumme Maul, du Penner ...

  • @Hoffenheim08 Oh muy bien usted puede habla no ingles pero tu habla algo!! siga todo recto al-a izquierda tu tonto perro!! usted aleman imbecil

  • @kevinandrew791 this video is a copy of the german tv part of this match. Why would he speak english on german tv????? are you forgetting that youtube is part of the Worldwideweb....meaning other countries access it too......no it's not just american

  • @danielamitric Wot r u chatting? u crank Im talking about on dis comment page R we nt writting in English??????? I neva mentioned da video read properly u prick

  • @danielamitric I dont no how 2 deleate my comment or I wud I am sorry 4 all my nasty comments It woz a gud tennis match & we shud all just enjoy it rather than leaving these horrible comments 2each-otha I also Im sorry 2all German people I may av offended Sorry agen.

  • @kevinandrew791 no problem, i apologize for assuming you meant something that you didn't. Take care :-)

  • @Hoffenheim08 The ball was clearly in, you need to see an eye specialist, Hoffie... ;-)

  • i dont get itt. she was winning 6-4 2-0 why couldnt she just let that point go? she was all over graff

  • @jaaking2 yeah thats just so sad she would have deserved it.. played so awesome then, so cool as well but i think she knew well how dangerous graf was and she fought for every point so its just stupid to give a point away...its a pitty she didnt keep as cool as at the beginning. in my opinion she mostly owned graf in this match but there was a change and graf played better she mad emistakes... but these two were so super awesome;-)

  • @greezall

Graf was the far superior player who made a lot of unforced errors in the first hour of the match.

When she got her act together Hingis was toast.

  • @jaaking2 She was up only 2 games in the 2nd set, and she barely won the first set. I wouldn't say that she was "all over" Graf. They both played brilliantly.

  • @jaaking2 Well the crowd was f***ing her over the whole match you cant blame her for being short of temper

  • @jaaking2 Because, always, every point counts!

  • What an arrogant twit is Hingis.

  • Hingis has got a ugly character

    The people are for Graf

  • Graf is the best player ever

  • This is like the biggest kitchen I've ever seen.

  • hi, where is miss swiss?

  • hi

  • Serena Williams Whooped Her Ass...Over...and...Over...and...Over!!!

  • @publicatdamagnificen

Yes, Serena has staggering 7-6 H2H record against Martina ...

    Idiot.

  • HIngis should have won that final but she blew it.

    She was a bitch.

  • i think graf knew where the right mark was, why didnt she comment?

  • @prdunj

Because she didn't know where the right mark was?

  • @prdunj

there was nothing to "comment". There was only a little child who was doing vagaries and a champ who couldn't have comments at all.

  • HIngis 99, Mac 84, same story. They were about to win RG easily but lost their concentration for a stupid detail.

  • @Hoffenheim08 : I hear you. I'd be picky, I'd say that before this call Hingis was ahead, then from this call on and for 30 mn Hingis and Graf were at the same level (proof that this call had an effect), then third stage Graf and the stupid audience were ahead.

  • @Papahitas and her vagaries

  • Hingis was such a baby. Let's hope she's matured.

  • Best ass in tennis history.

  • @cypresspuz

    Hingis's isn't bad either!

  • @Hoffenheim08 I was talking about hers lol

  • They should have a minimum age for participants to such tournaments, so we dont end up watching high school girls throwing a hissy fit

  • Brat

  • 2:54 haha Hingis flips the bird to the umpire...LOVE IT

  • french crowd is so lame!

  • @Marijaninho

Well, they remembered what Hingis had said about their country woman Amelie Mauresmo.

  • @Hoffenheim08

im not for a discussion so im only gonna say LoL

  • She looks sooo cute in this video...

  • stupid line judges and stupid umpire. they were looking at the wrong mark on the baseline.

  • @dlrsa2

Yes, but the right one was out as well.

  • what was the final score in this match? Hingis lost in 3 sets or 2?

  • Anna who??? MARTINA is the sexiest tennis player of all time!

  • It's lose not loose. Stupid retard.

  • I hate french fans

pisses me off , so dissrespectfull

  • Actually she didn't loose her cool over this. She was probably right with that call but the supervisors wouldn't change a question of pure line calling.

She did get the code violation but because she crossed to Graf's side to check the mark herself.

  • @alkatifa04

and many others violations in etiquette.

  • Hingis is in the right here

  • rolang? xD!

  • Steffi Graff = great and classy player. I remember watching this game live, and particularly the excellent speech given by Graff at the end.

  • @yiotispan

    Graf, not "Graff".

  • You people really are rude about her . The language is terrible in some of the comments.

  • Wow she used cocaine, I HATE HER!!

  • I so had a crush on Martina Hingis. She is a hottie!

  • I was a big fan of Martina's. Too bad her career was so short. She was a cutie.

However, she won 5 slams. Steffi won 22 and is arguably the greatest tennis player to ever live. No comparison between the two.

Whether the ball was in or out, Martina was WAY over the line here. I am surprised the officials let it go as far as it did. Martina should have been told to play or forfeit the game. Period.

Martina got more tired as the match wore on. THATS why she lost.

  • She has already won one set. She is leading in the second. She got upset on one call and lost the match. French suck anyway. Even today they dont use the technology to identify where the ball landed

  • Steffi is pure class. Unlike Miss Hingis. And the French, always a classy people, know it well.

  • btw is roland garros not rolang garros

  • Too bad Hingis was never half as refined as her tennis. As someone else here said, a spoiled brat--not to mention a drug abuser.

I watched Serena Williams wallop her in the semis at the US Open in 2001, 6-3 6-2. I enjoyed every minute of it.

  • Martina Hingis was and always will be a spoiled brat CUNT, I'm glad Steffi beat her that day and she was right to be booed off the court. She's a classless bitch!

  • This just goes to show how immature Martina was here - or how arrogant, depending on your point of view. She was one set up , 2-0 up in the second in a final. Why make such a big deal of a line call when so far ahead. And walking around the net to the other side during play gets you an automatic verbal warning. Why does she then look so surprised. Doesn't she know the rules of her game?!

  • The french crowd was right on that one.

As much as I do not like Steffi Graf for winning everything after the Seles stabbing, I was on Steffi's side that day based on Martina Hingis's attitude on that day and I do believe that it cost her the match because Steffi had the entire stadium cheering for her after that incident

  • Damn, Martina looks HOT here!! I love the way she is wearing her hair in this match. Cute, cute, cute!!!!

  • lol she was as kicking this match and was way ahead, didn't need to lose her cool like that. But Hingis's tantrums were nothing short of amazing lol.

  • Hingis had this match in the bag. That's what she got for not knowing how to control her feelings. She will forever go as one of the all time greatest tennys players

  • Poor Martina...

  • hingis was right i saw this match the ball was in the court

  • that is why I say poor Martina.

  • In the same situation in the semi final of roland garros in 1982 mats wilander ask to replay the point and it was on a match point.

  • Jose Luis Clerc wasn't a cheater, you know.

  • @McClernand i'm 44 years old so i remember Jose luis clerc

  • So do I, as I am 42 myself.

  • You should wear glasses, I guess...

  • @McClernand are you sure?

  • @McClernand

i 've got glasses thank you

  • @McClernand why did steffi graff had no reaction ? Because the ball was in the court and she new that

  • Who are you to assert the ball was in the court ?

Are you taking your dreams for reality ?

Or do you think your own personal judgement is better than the chair and line umpires together ?

And why did the chair umpire didn't default Hingis, when she came over to the other side, trespassing thus both tennis and fair play rules ?

  • @melende2000

I simply LOVE it how desperate those 2nd-tier-players' fans are about Steffi ...

  • @melende2000 :

no, it's because Graf is not a classless player and a child but a champion who knows fair play.

  • @melende2000 Even if the ball was in,this was still a time where you had to respect the umpire's decision. There are plenty of videos showing the worst calls ever, still the players were respectful. In addition,it wasn't even a point ending shot,Steffi still could have won it.Next to that, Hingis was up a set and a break,so her reaction was in no way justified, she just wanted to act like a complete total bitch, and be disrespectful to a legendary player. She got what she deserved in the end.

  • That spoiled brat cheated, attempted to influence the umpires, and finally got what she deserved.

  • unfittingly prima donna

  • 18, she was 18.

  • she wasnt called the "swiss miss" for nothing.

  • if she didnt lose her cool that time, she should've won a french title ... too bad...

martina ... all of us want you back ... we dont care if you won't win matches ('cuz we know you would) ... just as long as we see you play, it's already good enough ... :D

  • Martina is definitely lucky to have such a fan like you, tennister.

  • @tennister should've could've would've she didn't win RG in her career AMEN to that

  • Hingis was right, the linesman showed another mark far away from the right one

  • @kuklisz probably correct but Martina didn't stick to the rules a

  • @kuklisz absolutely!

The lineswoman and the chair umpire were both looking at a mark much further towards the middel of the court...

Tough for her, but there was no way to change that. Besides, it was a stupid reaction, since she had the first set and was leading with a break in the second...

  • @kuklisz I remember watching the match live back in '99

of course she was right, and she also lost her concentration --and the match-- right there...

last summer she used to work out some in our club,

still hits her backhand down the line out of any position,

had a brief engagement with a hapless young lawyer. I talked to her about the match

  • I watched it live at the time...It was like the best game ever... Martina thought she was going to win, and behaved like a bitch...Steffi saved like 2 or 3 match points and then won the game... it was like the best lesson ever.

  • @andrea78df

    Hingis never had match point.

  • TE AMO MARTINA ERES LA MEJOR

  • why she complaining like this i mean she was winning ffs jesus.... even serena wasnt this persistent when she was cheated out of points
