I've actually used this bug before, but unfortunately, the game reverts back to Leon after 3-4.
Some basic rules about what you can/not do.
1. Thrustpunch will not work. Chikyo Chagi will.
2. You can only use the Handgun. Attempting to scroll down on a weapon (maps, bigger cases etc. still work) will cause the game to crash, but you can upgrade the Handgun.
3. You have to use the Knight outfit with Ashley or she'll get carried off in the double crank room.

actually you can play as wesker WITHOUT mods and such.
first: you need to go to Mercenaries
second: you need to choose Wesker
Third: you need to start a new game (costume and difficulty doesn't matter)
P.S. this ONLY works as Wesker (because wesker has the handgun also unlike HUNK Ada and Krauser) and if i understood correctly you can only use the Handgun, Semi-auto rifle and the Killer7 otherwise the game shuts itself down

he did it on his computer. i guess he just found some mod where you play as Wesker on the storymode
