Regarding the "nay" to distilled water, how about running it through a sand filter, it is also possible to buy mineral (like a sand from crushed algae) to put in water to mineralize it and even kill germs. A few grains of natural salt can also help "normalize" the water.

Reverse Osmosis does not remove all the fluorides. Activated Alumina does remove fluoride but it adds aluminum to the water. You can put the water back through a carbon filter to take the aluminum out of the water from the activated alumina filter
