There is still a ongoing debate as to the actual origins of the word "Slav". Earlier sources quite often use Venedi / Veneti for people inhabiting the lands that were later to be known as Slavic lands.

Our uprising actually had to do with the sultan giving away historically Bosnian lands to the newly autonomous Serbia, and to the reforms he was planning to introduce that brought the Ottoman Empire closer to the Christian Europe. One of the particular issues e.g. was the new soldiers uniforms having two stripes across from the shoulders to the waist making the mark of a cross, which we did not like. Bosnian uprising of 1831 was ultra-conservative Muslims rebelling against a "liberal" Sultan.

Ah well, they didn't. The Hungarians ravaged Bosnia, and the Catholics almost succeeded in eliminating the Bosnian Church. But as they were preparing to celebrate the final victory of Catholicism over Bosnian heretics after 2 centuries of curses and crusaded, our Turkish brethren came with the light of Islam, literally. It was God's will. And pretty soon it was Bosnians lording it over Hungary, instead of Hungarians wreaking havoc over Bosnia.
