  • Nice pond

  • can i flag this for being to cool?:)

  • With your pond completed, now setup a large aquaphonics system. Check it out on YouTube for how to!

  • What was the purpose of the pvc in the bottom of the pond? Is there a place that I could find more information on this idea?

  • too tall and square for a pond

  • @Baraquiel62 not if you have small toddlers wandering around and don't want them falling in it isn't!

  • @saltylug I'd put a wood fence... but yeah it would work acutally too.. =)

  • Very cool

  • very informative, thanks for the vid!

  • I will make that my swimming pool!

  • Question i have metal containers 20-30-40 long about 6.5 wide if i repair any leaks and paint possible use tarp/plastic liner after mater sealant..You think i can raise tilapia or catfish from this set up after sinking containers 4-5 deep in soil helping with some insulation to maintain warmth..Good or bad operation?????????

  • @Mrprinceton123 Dunno. I would do a lot of google research on the matter first though.

  • @Mrprinceton123 I am in Florida (USA) so it is pretty warm here but I have my Tilapia in a 250 gallon/1000 liter food grade "tote".I think it contained blackberry syrup originally because it smelled of blackberries even after I scrubbed it out for a MONTH! :) Anyway, the fish seem quite happy and I just drop an aquarium rod heater in for winter months and keep it covered...the "waste" water that I drain off weekly or so is AWESOME for watering/fertilizing our vegetable garden-good luck!

  • Fantastic inspiration thanks for giving great info

  • How did I get here from a Michio Kaku Video...

  • @helgun88 Aliens I reckon.

  • that's one beautifull pond!

  • beautiful

  • Amazing job I wish I could do as good as u

  • well done any frogs yet?

  • @muja28 No. all the frogs are in the neighbours pond as they are unable to jump high enough to get in!

  • What a fantastic job!

  • does it freeze over in winter?

  • @bettydaw1970 Hi, no never. The venturi bubbles keep the pond ice free

  • Why a pond, you have a pool!

  • @MrBananaNuke I have a pool as well

  • I bought fishes and put them in the pond and then I went to a restaurant which first they put a fish 6cm to eat (alive) and In my religion we are not aloud to eat alive. So they put 4 fishes there then luckily I had a water bottle and then I put the fishes

In there and put it in the pond. They are

    Now 40 cm.

  • @royalphyonsticker I used the same bitumastic that you use to paint the inside of potable (drinking) water tanks. Be careful, some of the bitumastics are poisonous to fish.

  • Hi Paul just finished mine about four months ago. Had a few problems with water clarity, but seemed to have sorted. Had a Nexus Eazy Pod but found out it only did 10,000 PH so bought a pressure filter. I live near a river with herons however I stretched netting across not seen them since. Gonna put the build stages on soon, will let you know Paul

    Regs

    Shaun

  • Nice pond! :D

  • nice

  • nice work, how did you seal the concrete (water proofing)??

  • @MrCoolbeanstogo I used polyurethan pond paint.

  • Im never getting koi again, they always dissapear because something eats them. :(

  • @nuorangejapan It is a homemade version of the 'spider' fiter system. Just type spider filter into your search engine and you should find all you need.

  • @saltylug .....hi love the pond and the fact the water quailty, can i ask how you clean the pea gravel as its only cleaned once every 5-6yr..... thanx

  • what if it rains will it mess up the ph?

  • can you please show us the external plumbing for this pond :)

  • You should tap into your filter pipes amd redirect the water to a hydroponic system and grow some food. It will clean the water for you and fertilize your veggies. The fish love it and the plants love it.

  • So you can reed and cook your own fish?

  • lol what about the foxes and cats?

  • thats sweet. wat kind of fish?

  • That is the coolest thing I've seen! You're awesome..

  • so do you ever interact with the fish, like stick your feet in on a nice day??

  • @trishatragedy1 Never thought of that. Might try it!

  • @saltylug Just be careful! Koi are quite sensitive! You have to wash your feet well first, but don't use soap if at all possible.

  • that's a long backyard. :)

  • wow thats hard work, but i bet you enjoyed every minute of it :)... NIce job..

  • wow, massive undertaking and excellent results; bet that feeling of accomplishment lasts a lifetime

  • its a lil borin if ya ask me

  • how much did this cost?

  • Nice pond. Really, good job on building that. I too wanna make like that but my garden is small.

  • nice job BUT why not class than you can see the fish swimming:) wall sucks man btw gj

  • that is friking sweet

  • ill have to have huge bass in it lol

  • nice

  • It's a pretty big one but I wnat to know can I use the water from outside? I'm only 15 and I have no job so I'm trying to do this with no money! I care about all my animals and take care of them.

  • Can someone help me? Okay so I have a blackmoor, fantail and shabunkin (sorry about spelling) I know the blackmoor and fantail have to come in but im not sure about the shabunkin and my other common goldfish although they have been fine in the past but now there's some babies infact all my fish are young except two common goldfish that are 3 yrs old. my mum said she'd get a tank and won't now and I know they'll die so I'm putting them in massive plastic box like the ones you get in the store but

  • Fish haven :)

  • if i was you i wood put bass in there

  • very good job !

  • great job looks beautiful

  • thats really cool!

  • Em resposta a este vídeo muito bom, assista também o vídeo, como manter seu peixe de aquário saudável, é um vídeo espetacular e criativo!

  • sweet!

  • It's funny how there are a zillion people promoting ebooks that all proclaim their way of building a pond is the "correct" way. I think we will just stick to doing it the "wrong" way since it's a lot prettier.

  • This is an awesome pond!

  • i found some wierd ass lake and cought a huge ass koi orange it was gnar :D

  • Cool, u should get some bass in there:-D

  • Great video, nice and easy to understand. Thanks

  • How do you keep the mosquitoes out??? Or can you?

  • @nybombs There are no mosquitoes. The fish eat them.

  • @saltylug COOL

  • how do you get your fish! do you take them from other ponds or do you order the fish from a company?

  • @xBassxHunterx20 Some of them started out as eggs on weed and I bought the big ones when they were small from the local aquatic shop

  • Great job! tha's a swimming pool.....

  • Great job sir!

  • i always thought it would be cool to build a pond in my back yard preety big half your back yard and then like 30 ft deep it would be a pain but after your done gets some lake water catch some fish throw them in there then fish anytime you want

  • looks like a Jacuzzi

  • Do u raise them to eat or for fun every I've seen does it for food

  • @DaGeckoBro99 Just for fun

  • @saltylug very nice sir!!well done

  • Wow, nice job!

  • damn man u shoulda turned that bad boy into a hot tub lol

  • Awesome work!

  • Should fill it with snakeheads!

  • THIS POND IS AMAZING YOU SHOULD GO INTO THIS TRADE...I WOULD HIRE YOU!! MY PARTNER IS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING ONE ALTHOUGH ITS NOT AS BIG AS YOURS WELL DONE =D

  • Awesome pond.. But for such a small pond you should have built it on the side of the yard. at least you have a choice in the future if you want to add a swimming pool.

  • @oneyedthing The swimming pool is at the bottom of the garden!

  • @oneyedthing his pond his decision :)

  • very very nice...

  • boring

  • great mate

  • why not make it underground??

  • i would totally fish there!!! lol

  • I have a unused inground pool in my backyard, how hard do you think it would be to convert it to a pond?

  • @1972landcruiser . It should be quite easy. A pond liner would be the best way to go.

  • @1972landcruiser my friend also had a inground pool but it was unusaly small it looked like a kiddy pool so we baught a tarp and put it in the pool and now we put in random fish that we catch =)

  • very cool :)

  • bravo! nicely done mate!

  • as a pro I can tell you one thing folks...this pond will be around for many generations ...great job!

  • I really like your pond....

  • What are the pros and cons of in-ground vs. above ground pond? Will your pond freeze in the winter?

  • @cplai It was built above ground to stop toddlers and little people from falling in. It does not freeze in Winter because I have a venturi system injecting a constant stream of bubbles.

  • nice pond.. please a bit more on the filter you have made and info on how it works :-)

  • @Foderboxen Hi. it is based on a spider filter system. If you Google 'spider filter' you will find all the info. I have just adapted it with 40mm waste pipe and made a grid pattern. The take off (suction) point is still in the middle like the spider. Hope this helps.

  • freaking awesome job ...

  • sweet pond dude :)

  • That's great...Have fun when it rains.

  • Would you build one for me? I would pay for labour :)

  • wow nice

  • relly nice

  • Around how much did it cost you , if you don't mind my asking?

  • @subtleserveyor About £1500

  • Why did you make it above ground instead of in ground, and how long did it take you? Did you do it by yourself?

  • @subtleserveyor To stop little people from falling in. About 6 weeks. Yes.

  • would have been pretty cool if it was a marine pond, have your own barrier reef in your back yard for scooba diving! :)

  • @willnesssgt or even scooby doo diving!

  • @willnesssgt or even 'Scooby Doo' diving

  • Gz nice job :D

  • cool

  • that cant be 16000L ????? can there really fit 16 square meters in that pond???

  • It holds 3,519.508 imperial gallons 4,226.7528 us gallons

  • beautiful post. thnx for sharing.

  • at 0:51 the whole place is flooded???

  • a cheap way to keep the herons from eating your fish is to setup some old Cd's hanging by string -

    the light scares them off

  • Hey u should join pondfarmerforum

  • How much cm is 1 feet ?

  • @Theboomyfly 30cms = 1 foot

  • @saltylug ty

  • @saltylug CAN I USE A HOT GLUE GUN AND A PLASTIC BIND TO HOLD THE BIND ANSD GLASS TOGETHER

  • @Theboomyfly 1 centimeter = 0.032808399 feet

  • Great looking pond I have a Koi pnd at the moment, but I am expanding and wanting to get 7 courses high. You have given me the idea to use blocks at the front then bring on the outer layer thanks! how is it going to date with the fish.

  • @MrTricksRus All good thanks. The Koi are getting big as are all the other fish in the pond. The Grey Heron has had a few fish but I have rigged up some fishing line which seems to deter them.

    Cheers, Paul

  • @saltylug Cool herons are a bad..... My mate has pond and the heron used to visit,,, He placed fishing wire over and around however they extend their necks and still managed to stab them. I took note and placed netting over and then fishing wire over that to. never can be to careful. I will start posting on tube once i get going on the new pond.

    Cheers

    Shaun

  • hey go to pondfarmerforum.co and become a member its a great site and has everything to do with ponds.

  • nice look garden, mate!

  • Hi there!! :)

Excuse me, I would like to ask something:

Does somebody know how Fish Ponds were kept and mantained in the old times, (when the electricity wasnt yet invented)??

I cant buy a filter yet, and I want to know how were they mantained and kept alive 200 years ago...

    THANKS!!! :)

  • @mrpepperoriginal The best ponds were fed from clear water streams and planted with oxygenating weeds. I would Google for more answers.

  • @mrpepperoriginal In the "old times" Fish ponds had a natural filtration system such as plants and rocks. Fat flowing water to.

  • @mrpepperoriginal 200 years ago people were more concerned about living then keeping goldfish. life was harder and really left no time for fucking around

  • nice pond

  • good one

  • vancouver nice place to live, used to live there, im going to build my fish pond here in cali colombia

  • what happens when it rains?

  • There aren't big backyards like that where I am :O

You did an awesome pond there, surely you are not worried about cats and cranes.

  • amazing pond, i hope everything made it through that harsh winter mate..

    best of luck

  • wow im so amazed at this pond i want to build one now, its really nice we loved the pics thanks .

  • This is a amazing pond. If I ever move from aquariums to ponds, or just have space and extra cash, this is what I will go by. Great job! Looks like it can also serve as a nice pool too lol.

  • 2:34 your wife has a huge irrection

  • I wish I could build like this where I live in Canada but the frost would blow that to bits.

    Yes I'm jealous

  • @Mostlyfun Vancouver would be OK!

  • @saltylug Vansterdam would be nice but I live in Ottawa, over 4000 km away.

I will be building a new home in a few years and it will have a glass covered court yard so I can enjoy my pond year round.

My fish are currently under 10 inches of ice.

  • @Mostlyfun . I see. Well good luck with your projects.
