Dam, Winwoods voice is awesome..They said back in the day when he first came out his voice was compared to Ray Charles.. Talent wise he's the ONLY guy who can take the stage with a giant like Clapton and own it.
Old keyboard player can really rip up that guitar. Sings pretty good too. The only thing that was strange was that the crowd didn't yell loud enough at the end. The roof should have come off the building. Go Winwood! Live forever!

When we went to concerts 40 years ago and more, this is the kind of magic we hoped to see. There's nothing more to say; this was lightning in a bottle with a musical genius.
keyboards: Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon. Drums: Ian Thomas and Steve Jordan. Bass: Willie Wek. Vocals: Sharon White And Michele John. Guitar and vocal: Steve Winwood.
@longjonwhite He only picks at the D and the G and mixes a Dsus4 in - the A is an really A6 and with Em. Or at least thats how I get it to sound right - I just cannot sing as good as this guy - nor get the fluency of the solo - Outfking standing marines!
This is my all time favorite concert performance! Just a fantasicly performed rendition of this song. Every artist brings their "A" game! This is what seperates us from the animals. Incredible guitar playing: a perfect blend between artistic impression and technical skill! Thank you Stevie for this gift to the world!
if you´re an incredible singer, keyboard player, guitar player, musician and lyric composer.... i guess u ncan´t complain with god for the rest of your life
Thanks for posting this . I enjoyed it immensly.lost in misty eyed nostalgia until i saw the pop up youtube add for "Amazing joint relief ". LOL . seriously tho Steve's
voice sounds better than it did when he was a kid . AMAZING.
obviously steve can´t play guitar as eric.... but this version is the proof that you don´t need to be a virtuoso to make a great solo, cause, really, this 2 solos are probably one of the most inredible solos I´,e ever heard in my life, by any artist in any era....
I realized that I always thought of Steve as a keyboardist (I don't know why). He is clearly an amazing guitarist. How can one live so long and not realize the obvious?
I'm 22 and I only listen to stuff like Eric Clapton, Derek & the Dominoes, Cream, Blind Faith, Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule, Humble Pie, ZZ Top, Rolling Stones, Joe Walsh, The Band, etc. Don't worry. Good music will live on!
This brings back very fond memories of my teenage years in the late 60's and '70's. This music is awesome. We called it "groovin'" back in the day (listening to this music). TIMELESS. Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton are true artists. They feel the music like no one else.
Remember all you kids out there that Winwood is first and foremost a keyboard player. On some of his early work he played all the instruments himself. His musical talent is off the chart.
amazing.... you don´t have the thecnic and elegance of clapton or the virtuosism of hendrix to play guitar. This solo is in my top 5 solos of all time. And it is really easy. But somehow it rise your ears and go directlu¿y to your heart and soul. I mean, just see the reaction of the whole stadiumstandin up. Amazing solo.... It doesn´t need speed or virtuosism... just soul. STEVE WINWOOD IS AMAZING. One of the most underrated musician of his times. He is a genio.
What great musician we had and still have from 80ies era! Steve Winwood, A-ha, Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson..... So glad I was a child/teenager back then!
What a magical night that must have been! Talk about Mr. Fantasy; suddenly it was 1972 again, I was 21, and nothing had changed. Couples swaying to the hypnotic guitar, Winwood showing us he's still the master, and the music sounding better than ever. Thanks so much Stevie; made me forget it's not the 60's anymore, even though the only thing in the 60's now is ME.
Winwood, one of my all time favorites. Finally able to see him last year. It was like a religious experience to me. Such a talented and wonderful human being. Arc of a Diver still amazes me in that he was the only performer on the album along with producing, mixing and engineering. An extraordinary talent in my lifetime.
There is no other way to describe this other than....DAMN! Well, there's genius, talent, awesome, real music, timeless, powerful, among others. But DAMN sums it up.
It's always neat to see those who just discover this timeless music I cut my teeth on in the late '60's and early 70's ..better late than never my young Jedi knight....check out Blind Faith; Savoy Brown; Uriah Heep; Ten Years After and many others to just see what a step backward music has taken (for the most part).....
