Damn that is some good shit! I loved the 80's Saw them at Freebird LIve in Jackoffville FL where I now live and they tore it up last night!!Fur-ever greyt!
clear memory of seeing them live and during this song in particular, it was a solid wall of sound with notes peeking out of the din....Utterly amazing live band. Psych Furs remain the best live band I have personally ever seen
What an absolute tour de force! The song title says it all and then this song just destroys you. I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't discovered the Furs.
@Zobinski I love Richard Butler's voice. It sounds like he gargles with whiskey and nails! He writes great lyrics, too. One of the few punkish bands to have a saxophone in the lineup. This is one of my favorite songs by them.
@bluesbrrd Yeah...they're one of the few bands I'd let 'get away with' having a sax in the band...one other that momentarily springs to mind is the legendary X-Ray Spex...
this was the first record that i saved all my pennies and bought on my own. that's right.... no such thing as cds. the first time i walked into a record store...the first time i ... fill in the blanks
This was the first song I requestedas an LA transplant at Fresno State's new campus radio station KFSR back in 1983 and the DJ (you could talk to the DJ then!) initally refused to play it because he thought the title "too suggestive". No worries, he relented and things got better. Took Fresno out of Top 40 - thank God!!
@mscrazykiss i was there- I was there. I felt like i was the only person in that whole town that any idea what real music was, then cam KFSR, and slowly they got it. Initially REM, Translator and US guitar music, but slowly they got it. I saw P Furs in the 'no about that time. Also say first us tour of INXS and all kinds of great ska- E Beat, etc. I used to hang out in the KFSR studios begging them to play KRaftwerk, NEw ORder, and anything with a synth.. Man those were the days.. billyo
I love how he broke the 4th wall with singing when he sang "If you believe in anyone like me within this song". What a cool thing to say. It's almost like when an actor looks at the camera and breaks that invisible wall.
well,i was in frisco in 69,lots of fantastic music, furs even top some of the orginal acid bands.what was and IS so powerful about good trippy,'"acid" rock was like what wagner wanted to do,AND DID,create a total dream atmosphere, one leaves the earthly realms for the astral, the spirit world.here in arizona,i many times heard the indian tribes play at their "sings",or happenings of spirituality for the navajo and others.the CONSTANT drumming, singing, mesmerizing ecstatic,
SEEN THEM MANY TIMES,WHAT A AWESOME FRIGGIN BAND.they were unique, they also tapped into the early "acid rock",ONLY MORE REFINED.this song is what genius is about, wow
i feel like a passenger on Richards train. what a tune !

Annoying commercials before videos. "Stupid," as Richard Butler would say.

Rick Ocasek's "Jimmy Jimmy" is a copy of this. But I am glad he did it because his take is more melodic and transcendental.
