Gotta love those huge brass sounds. I figured out how to make a Vangelis type brass not too long ago using NI Massive, but you could do it with basically any soft synth. It's just two saws with an LFO slightly modulating the pitch on the second oscillator as it flanges up against the first oscillator, creating that brassy dissonance, and then you put a modulation envelope on the cutoff filter with a fair amount of attack. That's pretty much it, other than reverb and perhaps some stereo imaging.
You really got talent !! You really have captured Vangelis DNA in your music, and not many people have done that successfully. Keep up the great work ! - Daniel
I've been listening to the maestro's music for 35 years now and as most of you know, he's never been much of a live performer. Even though I'm past my first bottle of wine, which usually awakens my senses, I have to say that this live performance of Vangelis' music has to be the most beautiful thing I have heard so far. Buddy! I am a composer because of V. I hear music because of him. I did not perform live because I believed in what he did but this...you are now making me doubt. You truly capt
A beautiful Vangelis style free improvisation, musical like relaxing moods I loved for so long, you make this well, even Vangelis is not doing this anymore, sadly...but this was for my part truely the best of his greatest work.
@Todd63790 On right Microkorg. Center top Korg X5, then Roland Juno G, then Ensonic ESQ1. Left top Juno 106 (wind) , bottom Juno 6 arps. Sorry I can't tell you which sounds are what. Microkorg is strings. ESQ is the main KB Mick uses. It's a MIDI controller as well as a beast of a DCO synth. If I'm not mistaken all sounds played on the ESQ come from it per Mick.
I've been listening to your works for a few days now and I tip my hat to you! I once caught somebody claiming Vangelis is the most untalented person ever to 'grace' the electronic scene, nonsense of course most probably from a person who doesn't appreciate the excellence Vangelis brought us.
@FeNsTa Hi and thankyou:) Yes the bounty piano is difficult to reproduce, i've tried loads of different ways, in this i used the esq1 synthesized piano with the juno g's acoustic piano with a slight flange effect to the juno g only, plus a long warm hall reverb. I've recently got hold of steinbergs grand 3 which has a fantastic yamaha cp80 electric grand , programmed by yamaha themselves, if only we had real cp80's!:) i've tried those chords with it and they do sound very close
I remember my Art Teacher at school showing me how to paint waves...I vividly remember the 'Butterflies' in my stomach when he finished painting...Your talent gives me the same emotion....Thanx
To see you play his music and add a little of your own touch w/o blemishing his work was a pleasant surprise.
I have never had the opportunity to play the Keyboard, however I am considering taking it up. I am looking into purchasing a JP 8000 to get that silky punch in the strings like V's. What else do you recommend to build my little own Vangleis arsenel?
Hi, I guess any synths from the period 1975-1985 have the potential to make some sort of vangelis sound, analogue especially. I use an Ensoniq esq 1 with strings from a modern microkorg. the old roland junos are good too, plus a keyboard that has realistic grand piano sounds helps
The MicroKorg sounds amazing and so does the CS80 sound!
What reverb are you using? It really gives it that Vangelis-depth......I've a Lexicon PCM90 but quite honestly I am very disappointed, so much so that I think it could be faulty......
@GNeuman Hi and thanks! It's just the hall reverb from my behringer eurack mixer. I would love a lexicon unit, guys on here often tell me about them , hope you get it sorted:)
Wow. That's great. I have no words to describe your performance. It's just brilliant. I enjoyed especially The Bounty part. Hope to hear more of your performances.
Mick!! It is becoming a habit with you to make me speechless. I can only say 5***** plus very nice. Too short though. Course I think that of all your tunes. Darned Youtube.
Well, I can't help myself, but I must write once more that everything you play captures the whole Vangelis spirit ... please go on ! Cheers Mike ! Richard

@mik300z Lol then it's not just me then, I downloaded the demo a while back and to be honest wasn't to impressed with their emulation. Shame the real things are so expensive now days, even the CS-70m costs around 1k if you can find one.
