  • Gotta love those huge brass sounds. I figured out how to make a Vangelis type brass not too long ago using NI Massive, but you could do it with basically any soft synth. It's just two saws with an LFO slightly modulating the pitch on the second oscillator as it flanges up against the first oscillator, creating that brassy dissonance, and then you put a modulation envelope on the cutoff filter with a fair amount of attack. That's pretty much it, other than reverb and perhaps some stereo imaging.

  • Bravo!

  • You really got talent !! You really have captured Vangelis DNA in your music, and not many people have done that successfully. Keep up the great work ! - Daniel

  • I've been listening to the maestro's music for 35 years now and as most of you know, he's never been much of a live performer. Even though I'm past my first bottle of wine, which usually awakens my senses, I have to say that this live performance of Vangelis' music has to be the most beautiful thing I have heard so far. Buddy! I am a composer because of V. I hear music because of him. I did not perform live because I believed in what he did but this...you are now making me doubt. You truly capt

  • Fantastic!

  • AMAZING!! Can you please send me a list of the keyboards you used ?

  • Bravo!...I thought it was Vangelis!

  • The Master and Wizard never fails to make our love for his music even more deep

  • Magnificent performance... thank you... Peace

  • A beautiful Vangelis style free improvisation, musical like relaxing moods I loved for so long, you make this well, even Vangelis is not doing this anymore, sadly...but this was for my part truely the best of his greatest work.

  • wow ! great...

  • Have you ever thought about releasing an album?

  • man, what a set up you got there

  • dobry żarrtt :D

  • really feeling this...wow

  • Coordinated by the brain, played with the heart.

  • You've really captured the Vangelis essence. Very educational too. Great job!

  • This i sgreat what keyboards are u using to get these sounds

  • @Todd63790 On right Microkorg. Center top Korg X5, then Roland Juno G, then Ensonic ESQ1. Left top Juno 106 (wind) , bottom Juno 6 arps. Sorry I can't tell you which sounds are what. Microkorg is strings. ESQ is the main KB Mick uses. It's a MIDI controller as well as a beast of a DCO synth. If I'm not mistaken all sounds played on the ESQ come from it per Mick.

  • @Booger6995 That's from Micks perspective on the synth locations not ours. Sorry bout that.

  • Friend, how do you produce the sound at 4:06 to 4:11? I mean, that kind of "Oboe". Real great job!

  • @aeryalmusic Per Mick all sounds played on ESQ are from it.

  • I have been listening Vangelis for over 30 years and I heard many copycats, but I can tell this guy is worth listening!!!!...thank you.

  • You are so talented - Fantastic

  • Very nice I love the way you just pick it up especiallly at the 3:51 mark on through....

  • WONDERFUL !!!....EXTRAORDINARIO....

  • mik300z men... I thought till I read you are doing it, it's Vangelis performing...

  • Yowza..this is incredible!

  • Man ur to good! im trying to play what ur playing and all i can play is part of the bounty! :0 dam

  • Very nice 02:04 ! :)

  • I expected you will fail with this one, being a random mix of v melodies, but actually it sound very good, bravo and a huge thumbs up.

  • REALLY , REALLY GOOD MAN!

  • You are an extremely talented synthesist :) subscribed, and look forward to listening to more.

  • Very nice. You've nailed the soul and magic of Vangelis music.

  • oh man, you are the next vangelis in case retirement of the orginal. thanks god.

  • As usual, a wonderful performance!

Could you, please, reveal the patch details for the bell-piano sound you use on the bottom keyboard? Is it an Ensoniq synthesizer?

  • Extremely beutifull, inspiring performance god peace with you....

  • @SuperBigbadbri Thankyou for the kind words:)

  • Can anybody hook me up with a pillow cause this music is making me sleepyyyyyy!

  • Oh man, this is great. You seriously have skills...

  • Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you my friend.....I am glad that our Greek Vangelis inspired you....keep up!!!Greeting from Greece!!

  • I've been listening to your works for a few days now and I tip my hat to you! I once caught somebody claiming Vangelis is the most untalented person ever to 'grace' the electronic scene, nonsense of course most probably from a person who doesn't appreciate the excellence Vangelis brought us.

  • I think you have a big mixer to control all your keyboard and a good audio monitors! ;) the best;)

  • SQ-80 TEHE BEST KEYBOAR MADE -MAN MADE!

  • nice one, thanks for info, will try em out when i get the chance, kudos :)

  • @FeNsTa Hi and thankyou:) Yes the bounty piano is difficult to reproduce, i've tried loads of different ways, in this i used the esq1 synthesized piano with the juno g's acoustic piano with a slight flange effect to the juno g only, plus a long warm hall reverb. I've recently got hold of steinbergs grand 3 which has a fantastic yamaha cp80 electric grand , programmed by yamaha themselves, if only we had real cp80's!:) i've tried those chords with it and they do sound very close

  • Superb and haunting. Truly great

  • A really great job mate!!

    Greetings from Greece :-)

  • @anduan3 thankyou my friend:) say Hi to Vangelis for me if you bump into him will ya?!

  • @mik300z

    I wish i could... :-)

I Love this guy and his music.

Btw, i have made 3 videos with rare and not so rare Vangelis videos, if you didnt see them yet take a look :-)

  • Incredibly beautiful . Thank you for sharing this with us!

  • you are an incredible musician. I love it!

  • oh my its amazing

  • Loved the part when u played "The Bounty" movie theme!

  • this is what i call a keyboard player ... a bliss to my ears

  • In the final Twilight is a jewel this melody

  • amazing

  • Beautiful!!!!! I know nothing about music but that was amazing

  • Beautiful!!!!!

  • it's briliant! You were not only able to reproduce the sounds, but to captivate the "nature" of this music. Fantastic.

It must have been a lot of effort, thank you for this.

  • Played with heart and soul and grace, just like Vangelis. Excellent ! Thanks for sharing.

  • 10 stars man . . 10 stars !!

  • Nice Very Vangelis

  • MAn!!!!

What is the name of efect in 1:09 to 1:19??? This is classic Vangelis sound efect!!!

What it the name of it??? Please!!!!

    : D

  • @romulormachado Hi, it's coming from an ESQ1 (80's synth) which I use to emulate the brass sound Vangelis created on his Yamaha CS80.

  • I remember my Art Teacher at school showing me how to paint waves...I vividly remember the 'Butterflies' in my stomach when he finished painting...Your talent gives me the same emotion....Thanx

  • Very very NICE!!

  • where is that damned 6star!?

  • lots of keyboards did you leave any money for food?

  • Great mik..really. Vangelis is my favorite composer too..and your sound have the same colour/feeling of the original tracks..Great.

  • I said "DUDE!" out loud when you went into the bit from The Bounty. Nicely done, sir! Great sounds, keep doing what you do.

  • great sound....synthesizer orchestra :-) genial adventure

  • Vangelis is my favorite composer.

To see you play his music and add a little of your own touch w/o blemishing his work was a pleasant surprise.

I have never had the opportunity to play the Keyboard, however I am considering taking it up. I am looking into purchasing a JP 8000 to get that silky punch in the strings like V's. What else do you recommend to build my little own Vangleis arsenel?

  • Hi, I guess any synths from the period 1975-1985 have the potential to make some sort of vangelis sound, analogue especially. I use an Ensoniq esq 1 with strings from a modern microkorg. the old roland junos are good too, plus a keyboard that has realistic grand piano sounds helps

  • Wonderfully played. I like the original Vangelis too.

You captured the spirit of his very well, and then added some :-) my hat's off to you.

Have a great weekend :-) Cheers!

  • What instrument is the sequence that starts to 4.20

  • Thats the arpeggiator from the roland Juno 6

  • If there was no vid - I would 100% bet is was vangelis himself!!

  • Very very nice !

A full version of antarctica echoes would be fantastic

  • Maybe you should Google for Vangelis (artist) once.. ? ;)

  • When I listen to this, I feel like the nature is singing, he's a genius

  • KUDOS!!!!!! And a STANDING OVATION!!!!!

  • I was very happy to get a youtube mail that movie from you on youtube in my youtube subscriber list. Very inspiring as always.

  • This is again superb!:) Amen to you. haha

  • Really great work! Excellent!

  • excellent execution !

  • @Kaidoscope Cheers for that:)

  • 7:06 My favourite vangelis song. It is so lovely... Smiles all the way.

  • 5 stars

  • Superb!!

The MicroKorg sounds amazing and so does the CS80 sound!

What reverb are you using? It really gives it that Vangelis-depth......I've a Lexicon PCM90 but quite honestly I am very disappointed, so much so that I think it could be faulty......

  • @GNeuman Hi and thanks! It's just the hall reverb from my behringer eurack mixer. I would love a lexicon unit, guys on here often tell me about them , hope you get it sorted:)

  • Wow. That's great. I have no words to describe your performance. It's just brilliant. I enjoyed especially The Bounty part. Hope to hear more of your performances.

I wish you all the best

  • @DearAleksander Thankyou very much, really glad you enjoyed it, stay tuned!

  • Excellent! The position of the camera is also well chosen! Very nice work! Keep on and thanks for the delight!*****

  • Mick!! It is becoming a habit with you to make me speechless. I can only say 5***** plus very nice. Too short though. Course I think that of all your tunes. Darned Youtube.

  • simply amazing!!! I want a recording for my iPOD...

  • Cool...

  • Well, I can't help myself, but I must write once more that everything you play captures the whole Vangelis spirit ... please go on ! Cheers Mike ! Richard

  • nice keys cheers

  • I've just watched this again (and again!)... and it blows me away. I know I've already commented, but I wanted to say again how much I admire your work!

OK, I'll shut up now ;)

  • :) Awsome....

  • That was a fantastic Performance!!!!!

    Bravo Mick! 100% 5*****

  • Beautiful Nick, merging all your Vangelis sounds into an improv of the Bounty-soundtrack, great job my dear friend! 10********** Grtz, Dave (Belgium).

  • wonderfull!!! Thats really a great work Mik!!!

  • It was abolutely great! the brass and all the other tones were spot on! i was really hoping to see some 1492 in there, but it was amazing without it ;)

  • Another awesome vid Mick. Thanks for sharing with us.

  • Very Nice Medley

If Vangelis should ever listen to this Medley im sure he will be proud of you.

And with your Numeral Pad ... left above Q is another 1 *hint*

    5*****

  • Hey man, just stopping by to see your new video - great job as always!

  • Even Vangelis is impressed Im sure!! And thankful.

  • Just awesome!! Amazing performance. Beautiful sounds. Ps... How are you triggering the white noise?

  • @notjarre Check right at the start of the video. I think he used the Juno 106 with a floppy stuck in the keys again. Yep just checked. That's what he's doing. He has used that technique before. But hey it works.

  • Sweet music to my ears and a fantastic performance!

  • @drifter7508 Thankyou :)

  • it is a pity that your video does not last a couple of hours. THANKS!!

  • @azkuene And thankyou, glad you enjoyed it, if i thought the audio quality would be better I would go on for longer, but yet again YT seem to be changing upload filters:( I'm very disappointed with the sound of the microkorg strings on this one, the sound so much richer in reality

  • sweet

  • Bravo,i have no Words for this fanthastic Music...5*****

  • @Korgator thankyou my friend:)

  • Superb cover of 'The Bounty' theme. Possibly my favourite film ever. You are very talented.

  • Very good my friend! Great job.

  • It's a very nice cover. You're amazing!

    Greetings from France.

  • Outstanding Mik!! Damn, that ESQ sounds Fabulous! What making the white noise? Its very rich! :)

  • @kerzwhile cheers:) the white noise is from the juno one06 (sorry but my numeral one key is busted lol:). I do like that sound too, works great with the lfo.

  • The Bounty theme is very nice !

    Thx

  • So nice and lush! Loved the piano from mutiny on the bounty. Have you tried by any chance the CS-80V plug in?

  • @vinyljunkie07 Hi, yes I have the CS80v but it's hard to get any Vangelis sounds from it though:)

  • @mik300z Lol then it's not just me then, I downloaded the demo a while back and to be honest wasn't to impressed with their emulation. Shame the real things are so expensive now days, even the CS-70m costs around 1k if you can find one.

  • Great !

  • very nice cover mik

  • @korgpadude thankyou , the sound quality on upload sounds awful though:(
