@Msghen34 you cannot download free photoshop. you can buy it from the photoshop site, or download a trial version from the site and see if you like it, this is usually 30 days. CS5 is out now, i suggest getting that.

use the baracks [ ] to make the brush size smaller, it saves time, and dont redo when you make a mistake on quick mask, just press X then go over what you messed up and it deleted the selection, then press X again to continue.

There is a way better way to smooth skin in photoshop. I forgot the link but it is by using the cloning stamp tool. 1st you copy your layer, apply an overlay blendig mode. Then apply a high pass filter to the top layer (this will sharpen the layer at the bottom keeping skin details), then you select the clone stamp tool with a transparency of 25% you start smoothing the skin (on the bottom layer). It takes a little more time, but I think is better, more realistic and you have more control.
