  • Why is somebody talking while the music is playing? THE MUSIC IS NOT LOUD ENOUGH!

  • The music is too loud.

  • what s the point if i can t hear what he is saying!

  • Please credit his name in the title.

  • Is this the requiem for a dream soundtrack? Thanks for the video!

  • @derikmusic Wow really how could you not know if its requiem for a dream

  • @seppukuification925 Please don't let this become a comment fight, there's really no need. I'm sure he knew it was Requiem for a Dream, and obviously you do too. Instead of fighting you could discuss your love for the music from that movie. I know I love it.

  • I love this guy so much legend is Alan watts

  • its ok people the louder the music means that you should concentrate. i know the music is loud but this is all we have to work with. trust me ,i feel you all.

  • i love Alan Watts...

  • Can I suggest the music is a bit too loud, makes it difficult to hear the man himself, otherwise its great!

  • Prickly and gooey people reminded me of the Myers Briggs~ Judgement and Perception polarity

  • if there's music, there's gotta be subtitles =)

  • This was really interesting, can anyone recommend a book by Alan Watts that explores the ideas he explored here

  • damm cant hear the man over the music. Redlite you should have it lower not at all versions.

    namaste

  • the music is to loud!

  • I love your posts redliterocket4!

  • Requiem for a Dream, or Lux Aeterna, is indeed a beautiful song, but please it gets too loud. A come here for wisdom, and though my first realized experienced of nirvana was to this song, I would like to hear clearly the words of Alan W. Watts, who enlightened me about the wisdom of the east, in comparison to our way of thinking, and in so doing helping me realize my own basic assumptions and become wiser in the process.

  • tired of this song. it's not inspiring. just my opinion. props for the watts convo though.

  • This is the most overused music on youtube......Seriously people.....find a different score to use.

  • nah not metapsychic amfetamine...

  • The music is to loud... or is this more about the song than the lecture? I'm confsued ?_?

  • Word. People with no taste sure are fond of Lux Aeterna, by the way.

  • Redo this with the music lower...I like it but its too hard to understand him speaking.

  • music is good but too loud.

  • I really like allan watts his words are so true and chilling what if he is right....

  • live the life he describes. it is true.

  • I love the music here.

If you think understanding is about words, you were not listening, regardless of whether you could hear it.

Understanding is an aesthetic experience. Its a synchronicity that everyone is all hung up on clarity and control with this video. You want structure, right?

Listen again. And again. You'll get it. I hope so. Nature is wiggly: clouds and water. You keep trying to figure it out. -- I am a Gooey Prickle, myself.

  • lol. yes. actually ive found that to understand the words while the music is playing is much more concise, if more time consuming.

  • Yes my friend 2010 has been on watch list for years.Technoligy is moving forward WAY TOO FAST..

  • 2010...have you though about it ?

  • this sounds like it might be an excellent talk ... but there's no way to tell, because the music makes him inaudible.

  • anyone know where there's an excerpt of these here Alan's words without the music?

  • Requiem for a dream soundtrack is fucking excellent as if everything else in the clip, but I have to agree about the volume..

  • The music was good but rather loud. I loved the footage of the sped up traffic and city though. It shows the how hyper our society is, always on the move.

  • This was very nice but the music hinders rather than helps.

  • music ruined this video, cant get past 2 minutes before i had to turn it off.

  • LEVELS!! I cant hear him talk!!!

  • click click

  • blah

  • the words are dramatic enough without the music soundtrack screwing it up. Its called BACKGROUND music for a reason.

  • Please, where did the visuals come from? Are the city scapes at night your own work? very beautiful!

  • i think the loud music...is suppose to make you more attentive to what he is saying..

  • Keep the music but turn it way down low.

  • Great video Reditrocket ...I like it and I would like to hear more from Alan Watt.

  • I'll repeat a common complaint on this video. At times the music is louder than the dude talking. REally fucking irritating. Pretty retarded, amigo. :PPP

  • Thanks for all of these posts man, the music fits, those who complain should not even be listening to this yet, they need to evolve a little first maybe? thanks ;)

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes; who guards the guards

  • any idea what year this was recorded in?

  • useless.

  • He's trying to get people to look at so-called reality from a different angles because many of us are stuck believing we really know "Reality" when what we know is an image of it.

We learn and are taught (and also, as specific forms with specific built-in "filtering biases" we are thus limited. Our perceptions are based on animal-like sensation of Reality ... ie, being mobile animals brings with it the very core attributes which make "us" believe we are separate from our environments).

  • please. if someone is going to post intelectual speaking. DONT dubb it with music. its irritating. not the music. the music is great. but both combined.

  • yea... makes it kind of hard to hear.

  • you right more people ask

    for less music,

    say you think demand

for less music would come through,

but i understand alan watts and his thoughts on music,

but music can work up emotions

    that can cloud thought,

on the other side listening could more important then

    thought.

  • the music's great!!! i absolutely love it!!!

  • It's called lux aeterna.. superb song!

  • why does the music get so loud

  • great, but is there a copy around without music? at times it makes it hard to hear what he is saying.

  • I believe it is in the Nature of Consciousness lecture(6 parts)- if I am wrong you may scan through the related videos... watch?v=UhRWYFJ2pyI

    Enjoy :)

  • I agree the lecture is more important, come to my channel, you can enjoy them without music.

  • ...To understand this... You'll have to go out of your mind. - A. Watts.

    ;)

  • Just to want to make it clear. He doesnt mean psychological. But shut off your mind, that creates thought.

  • I myself have fluctuated between prickly and globby glooby.

  • We don't ask how were we made?. we ask where did we come from?..almost as if we know, even as children, that Earth is not the answer.

  • the musik - a very nice pice for sure is anoing if you watched the movie before couple of times ,

  • Oh come on, the music was way too loud, could hardly hear him...!

  • If anyone wants to know the background music. Just download the "Requiem for a dream" soundtrack. It's the theme song for the movie :).

  • the music is way too loud

  • hehe, this is just a random observation but seeing the scene at 5:57 made me think of a bunch of plant pac-men. At this moment it seems quite funny to me but also quite interesting that a video game that had the sole point of gobbling up all the dots is like the ultimate symbol of some sort of consumerism. Now to have these green pac-man-like plants floating in the water is a very cool contrast. Perhaps there is hope for us if even this ultimate gobbler can alter it's ways ... hahaha!

  • well said zettetic

  • NICE VID!

    for more alan watts

    and others on actual reality

    view my page

  • IMO, I thought it was a cool video. I found it to be quite interesting. At no point did I find the music annoying or too loud to hear what he was saying. It seems the thoughts on the music seem to be polarized. Interesting!

  • Music is too loud...

  • They come to a state of mind where they think u are ego driven, which infact makes them think something negative and makes them care about something u probably care less of, or atleast i hope u do.

  • great job on the video, the song fits well. gives his words a flow like a river. a background to whats in top.

people dont really listen to lyrics anymore. so its hard to listen to a lecture with music under and i understand that, but people need to relax.

and there is no ego behind wut u do so they need to relax.

  • music's too loud... get your ego out of the way and let the words be at the forefront.

  • Interesting lecture, good video, nice, but interrupting music (Kronos quartet).

  • Please post a version of this wonderful Alan Watts lecture without the dreadful, horribly overused, music in the background. The music ruins his words.

  • Btw,I think the music goes well with it.I hear him loud and clear.

  • splendid watts

  • thank you for sharing

  • very wise....

  • team - Was they portained?

  • To all the well-meaning people who post these types of videos: we appreciate that you want to embellish the voice with music, but please, for the love of God, let the voice speak LOUDEST. Thank you!

  • excellent video!

  • Good video, but the music gets too loud making it hard to hear what he's saying at certain points which is annoying.

  • I <3 Alan Watts. But I can't listen to him too much because he starts to invoke in me a hatred of capitalism and consumerist advertising.

  • I like the composition of the video to what Watts is talking about. Especially the scene where he's talking about 'scanning' and spotlights, and you have the planes landing at night. Very cool.

  • Alan is a master at this, the continuity breaks and

obvious historical falsehoods grind away at the

surety like an animated Cretan paradox. A master Koan.

  • this music happens too much---but this version is better than what i've heard---there's a horrible video up right now on the top watched page of the poor dead football/soccer player --with this music - did you put these images together? beautiful.

  • i borrow a lot of the video from others and just clip it together; i don't usually give credit, but then I don't take any myself! I am running out of music to use for these... i need to get some new CDs!

  • i know this song is from the film @requiem for a dream@ but what is it called as i cannot find it

  • "Lux Aeterna", usually credited to Clint Mansell.

  • That Mansell overture makes this hard to watch
