Rorschach & The Comedian, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias.. You did a great job of matching the characters for the interview. Even the actors themselves were relatively well matched for a double interview.
@Meereeo Dont be GAY!, hes voice here is really generic, its simple but manly, and in the movie it was TOTALLY gay! just soft, not emotionless just soft, like whispering as if he was afraid or shy...
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Man, I shouldn't have read some of your older comments. I can't believe you are 23. Did you miss those hint in the novel of Adrian being gay? XD You don't need to transfer the looks of a character 100% into the screen. That costume from the novel would have looked fucking ridiculous on screen. And would that giant chin.
PS: Using "gay" as something negative makes you look like a complete douche.
@Trampadoo hahaha of course I know hes gay, since the beginning, a pink (or purple-ish) pyramid, the symbol of some gay guys! and I don't think its negative I have Gay friends you know!, but I mean it wasn't Adrian at all, Adrian looked strong and masculine as HELL! he was gay, but not a girly looking guy! and of course not, if they only had done it with a good fabric a guy who actually has good muscles and not try to use the exact colors of the novel, it would have been better!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: The point is that Adrian looks like a caricature (well, he sort of is) in the novel and transferred to the screen that would have just looked ridiculous, just like the giant squid. The kind of winning charm wouldn't have worked in the movie (caricature again), Goode's version was more realistic. The director decided to give the movie a very realistic feeling and some things just don't work in a movie.
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: And I don't see why all that bulk would have been important. No amount of muscle would have made him that fast, quite the opposite and as long as they show Adrian as someone sort of obsessed with an immaculate appearence and body I am fine with that version.
You remind me of a cousin of mine who ruined Lord of the Rings for himself by whining about that character not looking exactely like in the book or that character being cut out even though it made the movie better.
@Trampadoo ha-ha, dude the thing is that you obviously haven't read the novel, its not about the muscle, he has this kind of discipline and was a gymnast not just a weightlifter he has this not only physical but mental disciplines that made him achieve some sort of superhuman condition that made him be able to catch bullets not only because of his strength. its not that hes not "exactly" like the comic character but that they changed him in a suck-ish way!
@Trampadoo well even though you eliminate it, I'm just going to say in my personal perspective it was realistic enough n the vision of Alan Moore! and I don't "hate" the movie I actually ow it the fact that I meat WATCHMEN, if I hadn't love the movie I would have never read the novel which made me see How better the novel is, you don't have to hate the movie but the Novel will always be superior by far!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Of course it works in the novel! But you can't transfer it 100% onto the big screen. I just don't get why some people can't see and enjoy the same thing in two very different media? I enjoy both the novel and the movie. Both got flaws and genius moments and I am glad I didn't spoil either of it for myself by being tight arsed about the lack of muscles on one of the actors.
It works the other way as well. Some found the novel boring and the squid tacky as well. *shrugs*
@Trampadoo haha that's What I said, I didn't wanted it "exact" but I hated the important details they changed, that made the whole meaning of WATCHMEN change in the movie, like making Ozzy the bad guy after all, while in the movie they pretty much let the reader decide based on each beliefs and what we've learned of "right and wrong" maybe if they made a part 1 and part 2 Zack would have not cut so much and wouldn't have added stuff!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: I dunno, I never really felt they made Ozy the bad guy. Squid or bomb.. not that much of a difference. I know what you mean because the contrast of super nice and what he does at the end is not so clear in the movie but judging from the many discussions I've see about the movie what they did was very thought provoking. People still argue about whether Adrian was wrong or write, good or bad and wasn't that the point of the novel as well?
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: I think I even remember an interview with Moore where he makes it quite clear that Adrian was the evil one. But you never know with Moore, sometimes he contradicts himself.
@Trampadoo Haha well (as far as I know) Moore never said such a thing xD! quite the opposite he says it depends on how you perceive the world, and even so, Adrian ISN'T Evil he brought piece, yes killing but its just like another thing in life everything has a price, that's just how the world works, and well Rorschach had a death wish, but he wasn't "evil" either he was a goddamn avenger! fighting to get his kind of justice! and well its not that he contradicts himself but the thing is complex!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: You need to read some more interviews of Moore, seriously. XD Read up on what he said about Adrian. Are you aware that Moore meant Marooned is an analogy to what Adrian was doing? I should have probably written what Adrian did was not portrait as good by Moore (Adrian himself is indeed not evil). There are no good ones in Moore's Watchmen. It is a common mistake that some people think there is a hero or the good and the bad.
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: They are all extreme versions/caricatures of something Moore criticeses. Rorschach is a psychopath who uses rightwing ultra conservative "avenger" crap to justify his desire to kill. He's an example of someone who had created his own right and wrong and doesn't give a fuck about human beings. He would have tried to reveal what Adrian said and risked the distruction of the whole world by that just so he could do what he thinks is "right".
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: If you think that Moore meant Rorschach as a good, positive character.. oh dear. Rorschach is like the caricature of a ultr coservative bigot hardliner who lost the plot and uses those so-called ideals to satisfy his very private psychopathic leanings coursed by a fucked up childhood. Never compromise even of that kills every single person on the planet. Pure egoism. He wouldn't have given a damn about innocent kids dying, all that mattered was his own black and white world.
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Moore might have a fascination with anarchy, but he despises conservative, facist, right wing politics and he's an advocate of gay rights so Rorschach is not someone Moore meant as a hero. It was quite annoying and amusing at the same time to see how exactely the kind of people Moore criticises thought Rorschach was so cool and whatnot. He's some sort of hero for ppl Moore practically makes fun of and they don't even notice.
@Trampadoo well that actually makes sense, but you might be exaggerating with the "make-fun-of" thing he just used exaggerated points of view with each character, and he doesn't hates Rorschach or makes fun of him, he even voiced him sometimes, he gave him a really deep personality, but he gave him a really stubborned personalty that's why he had to kill him! you can also tell Moore isn't a Sell out, a characteristic he gave Veidt!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Well, he said Rorschach was supposed to be hated and that he was surprised many people liked him. I guess he underestimated ppl's love for violence and selfjustice. XD Didn't he say Rorschach was what he thinks would happen if a vigilante superhero person was real? E.g. it would all go awfully wrong, serial killer etc.
The problem I have is those rightwing morons who actually think Rorschach is the hero of the story. I have more symapthy for the yay, violence-pimly fanboys. XD
@Trampadoo Well I believe that he makes his characters so real that there's a point where not even him could predict how things would turn out, and well I wouldn't say he is the "hero" but he did was an avenger, he fought for his own justice, a real bad-ass, but too stubborned , and come on, he killing people is just his madness and loosing faith! but its not like we are to judge if he deserved it or not!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Of course I can judge this self-righteous asshole. He would have gladly caused the apocalypse and let all those innocent die he was pretending to "avenge". I don't see how it can be regarded as something positive and bad-ass just because it's his own justice. That's what I mean. Woooh, violence, selfjustice = so badass, awesome. I mean come on. He would have let millions of children die in a horrible war because of his psychopath no compromises shit. How badass is that?
@Trampadoo a lot! because he believed and had the balls to tell the straight truth, yes it would have been stupid to tell the truth even when it might have been a "right thing" (or not) but we've all done something like that, he saw it as"I have to tell my parents I had an "F" even when that's going to get me grounded" because to him there was only Black and White, no gray, black an white never mixed, nothing in-between! that's where Rorschach was totally wrong!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: I can't really see that as being badass, it's stupid and egoistical and like you said, black and white. Dealing with the whole thing like Dan and Laurie for the greater good, with the burden of knowing the truth, THAT would have been badass.
Oh well, I think we both agree that there is tons behind the novel and movie and that it went way over the head of many readers/watchers.
@Trampadoo haha yeah, well I don't know about you, but my anger is looooooooong gone! and I just take this as a share of ideas about the Novel, and your right about the Dan and Laurie thing, but Laurie was a really useless character only an "inspiration" for Dan, (specially in the movie) and this Novel its a masterpiece look at us talking about this, it totally blew peoples minds, specially on its own time...
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Yeah, both the novel and the movie definitely make for neverending discussion material. So many morality conundrums!
Haha, I agree about Laurie. Maybe she had a purpose I missed but I think he was just a plot device to wake Dan from his lethargy. And to have something to oogle at. XD They sure used her like that in the movie..
@Trampadoo Well, there are tons of people who despise the extreme leftwing, bleeding heart, Marxist Liberalism, just as much as some people dislike Extreme, narrow-minded, right wing conservatives. I would say that I am a Minarchist which is about as close as you can get to anarchism without resorting to the complete abolishment of the State.
@LordMalice6d9: Only that this kind of leftwing politics do not really exist anymore in any Western society I could think of while the right wing conservatives are a reality in the US. Nowadays the whole of western and northern Europe can be regarded as more or less liberal re politics while the attitudes is regarded as openminded, tolerant and social. I don't know about the US but I sometimes think the rightwing propaganda is wants to suggest real life liberals are communists, bwahahaha!
@Trampadoo I disagree, Left-wing extremism and communism are very much alive and well. The colleges are dominated by Cultural marxist extermists, Mosaic Multicultural propagandists and Mohamedan Islamic apologists. European countries are crumbling under the socialist and careless welfare system that the traitorous politicians have forced on their people.
@LordMalice6d9: Dude, you are American, you have no clue about our politics and what the people think about them. Socalled left-wing extremists in my country do have a nice face-off with a couple of neonazis once or twice a year and the rest keeps whining about the good old times of DDR and gets laughed at by the politicians who actually have power. I have yet to encounter any of the stuff you mentioned at a university. XD You shouldn't read that much propaganda rubbish.
@LordMalice6d9: And so far it looks like the USA is closer to crumbling than Western Europe and that doesn't even take into account violent crime rates, rape, teen pregnancies, free speech and cutural expression etc.
@LordMalice6d9: As for anarchism.. even minarchism, it would always lead to chaos. *shrugs* Not that the US would not already walk into that direction but when I imagine a society without compulsory education.. get ready for the torch and pitchfork solution to our problems like back in the "good" days when society was still devided into the privileged and the ones who could not afford education or had parents who didn't give a fuck.
@LordMalice6d9: A huge percentage of the people would devolve and life like they do in third world countries and the well educated rest would rule them. The dumber and more "indiviual" (e.g. egoistic, antisocial, devided) the masses the easier to control. There is a reason why anarchy never was a successful system and never will be and everywhere it rules it leads to chaos, poverty, injustice and violence. Humans can't deal with total liberty.
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Err, I read the novel before I watched the movie. In fact I probably read it long before you even knew it existed, thank you very much.
And you pretty much confirmed what I was trying to say. It's not just some muscles that make him that fast, it's mainly his determination, training, brains and obsession for perfection and that did NOT get lost in the movie. I don't see the suck factor. They turned what would have looked like a caricature into a realistic character.
@LeonDeLaMole what "Female lead"? Silk Specter is useless (here and in the Novel) shes just there to look sexy and "motivate" nite owl, and the only characters that looked alike the characters from the Novel , can be Nite Owl, although the suit stinks, Rorschach, and Comedian. Manhattan is just CGI, when hes Jon hes just slightly similar, Ozymandias not only the suit, but he didn't looked anything like the Ozymandias, and silk specter well shes just a sexual symbol!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg Malin Akerman made Silk Specter so much sexier from the comic (Unlike, say, Anne Hathaway for Catwomen-- blah), and Dr. M's speech about her being like turning lead to gold was one of the best scenes. I pretty much disagree with everything else you wrote, in the movie every character made a greater impression on me than they did in the novel (the film actually compelled me to read it). That's my opinion, if everyone had the same taste in everything life would be boring.
@LeonDeLaMole Dude I mean the Novel (the "comic") its way better he has better speeches more development better metaphors and Dr. M's speech is not even his its actually something the exists, called the exemption of the miracle, and I'm not a communist, I dont say everyone should like the same, but its more like a "hostile invitation to read the Novel" when I saw the movie I though "this is the best SHIT EVER" then I read the novel and I was like "OMG this is better and the movie is incomplete"
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg Well this is the most faithful movie adaptation I've ever scene (except for the giant squid thing, a change I like), right down to the POV of the camera, and the fight sequences were amazing, at least you could see what was going on, I hate fights that are so fast and edited to death so you don't know who is hitting what. The score was also incredible. Great respect for Alan Moore, I think V for Vendetta and From Hell should be higher on my to-read list.
@LeonDeLaMole I dont mean to be rude, but of course its the most faithful yet, its the first and only (professional) movie they made of Watchmen, and Yes i agree :) I Love Alan Moore! thats why I kinda hate this, because I'm a big admire of his, but and Its also fun :P! and well of course you should know about the squid, but not also that, Read the Novel, its a masterpiece :), since the beginning of it, you'll notice that they cut out lots of supportive characters and important parts of them.
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg No problem, I just meant of any book to movie, and I can't spell "seen" right. Maybe I should read it again, but I thought they kept all the best parts in.
@LeonDeLaMole Well practically yeah! but theres more to Watchmen than just cool scene s:P" and even so I dont mean its horrible, but they made up some shit! and cut out important things, but the basic things about Watchmen where kept of course, but the changes they made (especially to the ending , changed completely the meaning of "the Watchmen" but I mean when I first saw it I loved it, then I read the novel and instantly notices all they cut out..!
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: I don't see how the movie changed the basic meaning of the ending of the novel tbh. That giant squid would have been ridiculous on screen and it doesn't really matter whether John or the squid provide the impending doom that scares the shit out of mankind for the next decades to keep peace. And you just can't use all the characters from the novel in a movie.
@tillieemiliabech He IS and WAS evil, he did something thats bad, but he did saved humanity that makes him a hero! (Read the Novel) and EWWW! the suit Was gay and had nipples, nothing like the custom from the Novel, and he himself looks nothing like Ozymandias, Ozzy is Manly looking and has a MANS chin! this guy has No chin!
One of the movies I highly recommend to everyone. If you do want to watch this, you can check FreeMoviesQuick. com I watched it there and I had a good time
i dont know, the graphic novel is probably one of the best things ive ever read in my life but ive always thought that the alien destroying half of new york was a little goofy, something they fixed in the movie
@55batmanandjoker From everything I read Alan Moore just does not like something made out of his work no matter what it is. He wants complete control or at least to voice himself when he does not have the control to stop it. He sees his comics as his own creation and does not want it to be anything else. I respect that but I do think its a bit much.
@SpiralOfWhite That's the impression i got by reading interviews and articles too, he's a fucking genius but he should give them a chance, they did some great adaptions from his work.
like adrien said, this is a great movie, people didn't like it because they have been so dumbed down by superhero movies, they can't see the greatness in this film.
yeah there was something about Ozy that seemed a bit too different from the rest of the cast. It might have just been the way it was shot or directed, or maybe some scenes didnt make it to theaters, or, as you said, he might not have been as dedicated or interested as the rest of the actors.
I havent really read the graphic novel so I cant say if Goode was a miscast or not, but I think he played Ozy fine. But yeah, I might have a different opinion if I read the novel, but I have noticed that in the comic Ozy looks quite muscly, and Matthew Goode is strong, but a little thin perhaps?
yeah good point, he is 6 foot 2, but he is thin. I loved the performance and character when I saw the movie, but after reading the book (after seeing movie), that's when I got frustrated.
his portrayal has a smugness, and a smirk, that I don't agree with. Ozy in the novel has more of a weariness and lonliness in his expression.
Also he is a raging closet homo, you don't get that impression in the movie!
Oh so he's quite tall then!! Yeah, I loved his performance too, not as much as I loved Jackie's though. Im going to have to buy and read the graphic novel I think!!
They implied it very subtly, once in the opening montage when Adrien was in front of Studio 54, which was well known for being a homosexually oriented club, Rorschach says, "Even Adrian Veidt; possible homosexual, must investigate further" about 27 minutes in on the directors cut, and when Nite Owl II is on Adrian's computer, there is a file called "boys".
disagree. adrien needed to be distant and hard to understand or sympathize with. it makes him dense and fascinating and truly lives up the great eccentric alexander. and i also like that hes thin, hes like a coiled snake. he also may have lost weight becuase of what he was preparing for at the end of the movie. perhaps it was to show his own form of grief, becuase his suit was very muscular. i liked a smug knowing expression and how that slipped into anxiety insome scenes.also perfect ozy voice
fair enough. And good pointsyou made - lucky you that you liked the portrayal. Obviously novels are like that, you have your own take on the characters, and always some will be disappointed.
What I feel is that there were very interesting sides to the character in the novel that weren't explored in the movie
In each of the Watchmen interviews promotion interviews uploaded by moviesireland he asks about a "gay parade", he is referring to director Zack Synder's previous film, 300, which was accused of having a gay subtext.
@johnstube123 Its the bear, you would be surprised how just a little bit of bear changed how ANYONE looks... but anyways he looks Nothing like the real Adrian Veidt (from the novel)
i just realized both of these guys have done a romantic comedy with mandy moore. i wonder if they swaped makeout stories lol (and i think billy dated her as well)
he jus moved his hand before she fired the gun, he anticipated the action. it wasnt that he moved super fast, he jus new that she would pull the trigger when she did.
Yea, as GameGuru said, he anticipated the bullet being shot. They are human, but with better than human "specifics." I mean Comedian, in the movie, punched a wall apart, even when he missed! They're just buffer than a "buffed" human.
i couldent consintrate! all i could think about was his blue penis!!! phahahaha!!

Trampadoo 8 months ago
@Trampadoo haha yeah, well I don't know about you, but my anger is looooooooong gone! and I just take this as a share of ideas about the Novel, and your right about the Dan and Laurie thing, but Laurie was a really useless character only an "inspiration" for Dan, (specially in the movie) and this Novel its a masterpiece look at us talking about this, it totally blew peoples minds, specially on its own time...
fsfsfsfsfsfsg 8 months ago
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: Yeah, both the novel and the movie definitely make for neverending discussion material. So many morality conundrums!
Haha, I agree about Laurie. Maybe she had a purpose I missed but I think he was just a plot device to wake Dan from his lethargy. And to have something to oogle at. XD They sure used her like that in the movie..
Trampadoo 8 months ago
@Trampadoo Well, there are tons of people who despise the extreme leftwing, bleeding heart, Marxist Liberalism, just as much as some people dislike Extreme, narrow-minded, right wing conservatives. I would say that I am a Minarchist which is about as close as you can get to anarchism without resorting to the complete abolishment of the State.
LordMalice6d9 7 months ago
@LordMalice6d9: Only that this kind of leftwing politics do not really exist anymore in any Western society I could think of while the right wing conservatives are a reality in the US. Nowadays the whole of western and northern Europe can be regarded as more or less liberal re politics while the attitudes is regarded as openminded, tolerant and social. I don't know about the US but I sometimes think the rightwing propaganda is wants to suggest real life liberals are communists, bwahahaha!
Trampadoo 7 months ago
@Trampadoo I disagree, Left-wing extremism and communism are very much alive and well. The colleges are dominated by Cultural marxist extermists, Mosaic Multicultural propagandists and Mohamedan Islamic apologists. European countries are crumbling under the socialist and careless welfare system that the traitorous politicians have forced on their people.
LordMalice6d9 7 months ago
@LordMalice6d9: Dude, you are American, you have no clue about our politics and what the people think about them. Socalled left-wing extremists in my country do have a nice face-off with a couple of neonazis once or twice a year and the rest keeps whining about the good old times of DDR and gets laughed at by the politicians who actually have power. I have yet to encounter any of the stuff you mentioned at a university. XD You shouldn't read that much propaganda rubbish.
Trampadoo 6 months ago
@LordMalice6d9: And so far it looks like the USA is closer to crumbling than Western Europe and that doesn't even take into account violent crime rates, rape, teen pregnancies, free speech and cutural expression etc.
Trampadoo 6 months ago
@LordMalice6d9: As for anarchism.. even minarchism, it would always lead to chaos. *shrugs* Not that the US would not already walk into that direction but when I imagine a society without compulsory education.. get ready for the torch and pitchfork solution to our problems like back in the "good" days when society was still devided into the privileged and the ones who could not afford education or had parents who didn't give a fuck.
Trampadoo 7 months ago

Trampadoo 8 months ago
This cast was perfect, and could not have been better with "A-list" actors, nor could they have found a hotter female lead!
LeonDeLaMole 1 year ago
@LeonDeLaMole what "Female lead"? Silk Specter is useless (here and in the Novel) shes just there to look sexy and "motivate" nite owl, and the only characters that looked alike the characters from the Novel , can be Nite Owl, although the suit stinks, Rorschach, and Comedian. Manhattan is just CGI, when hes Jon hes just slightly similar, Ozymandias not only the suit, but he didn't looked anything like the Ozymandias, and silk specter well shes just a sexual symbol!
fsfsfsfsfsfsg 11 months ago
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg Malin Akerman made Silk Specter so much sexier from the comic (Unlike, say, Anne Hathaway for Catwomen-- blah), and Dr. M's speech about her being like turning lead to gold was one of the best scenes. I pretty much disagree with everything else you wrote, in the movie every character made a greater impression on me than they did in the novel (the film actually compelled me to read it). That's my opinion, if everyone had the same taste in everything life would be boring.
LeonDeLaMole 11 months ago
@LeonDeLaMole Dude I mean the Novel (the "comic") its way better he has better speeches more development better metaphors and Dr. M's speech is not even his its actually something the exists, called the exemption of the miracle, and I'm not a communist, I dont say everyone should like the same, but its more like a "hostile invitation to read the Novel" when I saw the movie I though "this is the best SHIT EVER" then I read the novel and I was like "OMG this is better and the movie is incomplete"
fsfsfsfsfsfsg 11 months ago
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg Well this is the most faithful movie adaptation I've ever scene (except for the giant squid thing, a change I like), right down to the POV of the camera, and the fight sequences were amazing, at least you could see what was going on, I hate fights that are so fast and edited to death so you don't know who is hitting what. The score was also incredible. Great respect for Alan Moore, I think V for Vendetta and From Hell should be higher on my to-read list.
LeonDeLaMole 11 months ago
@LeonDeLaMole I dont mean to be rude, but of course its the most faithful yet, its the first and only (professional) movie they made of Watchmen, and Yes i agree :) I Love Alan Moore! thats why I kinda hate this, because I'm a big admire of his, but and Its also fun :P! and well of course you should know about the squid, but not also that, Read the Novel, its a masterpiece :), since the beginning of it, you'll notice that they cut out lots of supportive characters and important parts of them.
fsfsfsfsfsfsg 11 months ago
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg No problem, I just meant of any book to movie, and I can't spell "seen" right. Maybe I should read it again, but I thought they kept all the best parts in.
LeonDeLaMole 11 months ago
@LeonDeLaMole Well practically yeah! but theres more to Watchmen than just cool scene s:P" and even so I dont mean its horrible, but they made up some shit! and cut out important things, but the basic things about Watchmen where kept of course, but the changes they made (especially to the ending , changed completely the meaning of "the Watchmen" but I mean when I first saw it I loved it, then I read the novel and instantly notices all they cut out..!
fsfsfsfsfsfsg 11 months ago
@fsfsfsfsfsfsg: I don't see how the movie changed the basic meaning of the ending of the novel tbh. That giant squid would have been ridiculous on screen and it doesn't really matter whether John or the squid provide the impending doom that scares the shit out of mankind for the next decades to keep peace. And you just can't use all the characters from the novel in a movie.

55batmanandjoker 2 years ago
it bothers him that he dident write it to be watched, he wrote it to be read.
Froodrook 2 years ago 3
@55batmanandjoker From everything I read Alan Moore just does not like something made out of his work no matter what it is. He wants complete control or at least to voice himself when he does not have the control to stop it. He sees his comics as his own creation and does not want it to be anything else. I respect that but I do think its a bit much.

goode was a total miscast. Also I think he didn't read the book. Every other character and actor was fantistic, but ozy disappointed me.
Other peoples thoughts on this? Agree or disagree?
Choungui 2 years ago
yeah there was something about Ozy that seemed a bit too different from the rest of the cast. It might have just been the way it was shot or directed, or maybe some scenes didnt make it to theaters, or, as you said, he might not have been as dedicated or interested as the rest of the actors.
Coldur 2 years ago
I havent really read the graphic novel so I cant say if Goode was a miscast or not, but I think he played Ozy fine. But yeah, I might have a different opinion if I read the novel, but I have noticed that in the comic Ozy looks quite muscly, and Matthew Goode is strong, but a little thin perhaps?
crypticsacrifice 2 years ago 2
yeah good point, he is 6 foot 2, but he is thin.
Choungui 2 years ago
Oh so he's quite tall then!! Yeah, I loved his performance too, not as much as I loved Jackie's though. Im going to have to buy and read the graphic novel I think!!
crypticsacrifice 2 years ago 2
They implied it very subtly, once in the opening montage when Adrien was in front of Studio 54, which was well known for being a homosexually oriented club, Rorschach says, "Even Adrian Veidt; possible homosexual, must investigate further" about 27 minutes in on the directors cut, and when Nite Owl II is on Adrian's computer, there is a file called "boys".
Hindelle2 2 years ago 5
disagree. adrien needed to be distant and hard to understand or sympathize with. it makes him dense and fascinating and truly lives up the great eccentric alexander. and i also like that hes thin, hes like a coiled snake. he also may have lost weight becuase of what he was preparing for at the end of the movie. perhaps it was to show his own form of grief, becuase his suit was very muscular. i liked a smug knowing expression and how that slipped into anxiety insome scenes.also perfect ozy voice
tiemedown 2 years ago 3
fair enough. And good pointsyou made - lucky you that you liked the portrayal. Obviously novels are like that, you have your own take on the characters, and always some will be disappointed.
What I feel is that there were very interesting sides to the character in the novel that weren't explored in the movie
Choungui 2 years ago
true, i would have loved like a 20 hour long movie
