Why do we have people pretending to be pilots? Using language like "reasonably experienced" and describing the 737-800 as "a bit of a dog" strongly suggests to me that the most you fly is a keyboard!
My apologies, I just read that your profile stated otherwise. Anyhow a great airline, I worked for them as a Load Contoller in AKL. A great bunch of guys!
the 737 is not a pig to fly are you a pilot i am and i fly the 737-800 for Pacific Blue and the plane flyes like a dream like all things it has its moments but other than that its a great areoplane and i agree the 767 and 777 are also great plane
no stovepipe engines on the NG's. Though I'd probably say not much has changed apart from the materials used and the avionics since the -300/400 classics. -800's a bit longer though.
Does It was an ILS approach or just a manual one? I didn't hear the AP disengage waning, so...

@Temperos89 It was a visual approach onto runway 16. The autopilot was disengaged before I started filming. Cheers.

@FlyPacificBlue What a good landing for a visual approach :)

No offense meant but looks a tad rough and a bit off-centre after landing....Regardless, nice job! (And, NO, I'm not a pilot!)

@msk7046 It's called windy Wellington for a reason :P That was actually rather smooth. Look at my vid to see how smooth it was :)

The bad thing about cockpit videos is that you can't see both cockpit and outside ahead.

Great video mate! When did you film it?
benfalas 2 years ago 3
Thanks mate, I filmed it back in March last year (2008).
FlyPacificBlue 2 years ago
How? I mean, its not forbidden to be in the cockpit while the pilots are flying?
benfalas 2 years ago
Great shot of cutting the throttle then applying the thrust reversers!

Thanks mate, a little bumpy after touchdown though :)

It flies ok.. as long as you don't pull the nose up to 11 degrees on T/O while the gear is still sitting on the ground....

Pacific Blue dont employ 19year old pilot from Australia...hmm...
However, you are correct, not only does it look great (esp with the winglets) but I would imagine it flys well from what Ive heard.

Nice views of WLG, and despite the nice displays..its still a 40 year old design that flys like the dog it is. Cheap to build though.
