  • Okay, poeple, yes YOU CAN walk close to the horse when behind him. Horses can only see like, four feet in front and behind them. So, of you walk far away they cannot either see you or have the range to kick you. Thats what my INSTRUCTOR said. It doesnt matter!! In fact, if the horse is skittish you might have to walk farther away

  • @XChocolateRainXx I agree, i run behind my horse with chaff bags wave them about when shes eating. i walk behind her i jump and scream, so when my younger siblings ride she wont get startled, ive known her for a long time and we have a bond. the rule dont walk behind a horse is mainly for riding school because they dont want injuries and also to people who havent known a horse for long :)

  • Re: powerinknowing - Salient point !

  • I also do not like the way she walks behind a horse. I learned from an instructor at such a young age to stay close, touch and talk. Give the horse a chance for success. This woman is not one to take advice from.

Walking in a semi-circle around hindquarters is so dangerous. The power of the kick at the full extension of their hind limbs is THE place I would never want to be. Watch the vid of the dumb guy clapping his hands behind the draft horse. I'll call that Exhibit A.

  • That is not the correct way to walk behind the horse. Do not face the rear when reaching for the girth, stand facing forward so you can watch the horse's expression and so if he kicks at a fly, you don't get a hoof in the face or head. Do not tighten the girth loosely as she says. If the horse moves suddenly the saddle could go under his belly=wreck possibly. Make it snug and then walk a few steps and tighten.

  • some 1 doesnt no how to walk behind a horse

  • @aridxxluv that was four months ago and posted by my friend who thinks she know s everything. sorry. But yes i know this, and she know knows this too. but thanks tho! :)

  • this horse is so cute !!!!!

  • Hey, hey people, this is her horse. If she wants to walk far away behind it, let her. Just because you don't agree with a little thing doesn't mean you can start an uproar.

  • She couldnt get startled and kick, the way you go on. Shed prolly kick you to shut you up.

  • hey people you can either walk really close or really far... shows how much you know.

  • For one, she shouldn't be walking behind the horse like that. Your supposed to get very close to there butt and slide around, so if they were to kick there hock would hit you only not the hoof. O.o

  • My girth only has elastic on one side, and when i do up the girth i do it up on the right side i think lol? Idk; is there a right or wrong side to do it up?

  • @horsesroqke

I have a girth like that too, and I put the elastic side on the left side (opposite side I get on). I do it that way because I can tighten the girth a little bit more on the elastic side which helps to keep the saddle even when I mount!

I don't know if this is the right way, but it seems to work for me just fine!

  • i dont know why this chick walked like 10ft away from the horse, your supposed to walk very close to them, and put your hand on their rump so they know where you are. this woman has a more likely chance of getting kicked if she keeps doing what shes doing.

  • agreed.

  • @kazziejazzie08 ur right but ters is three ways to walk around a horse

    1) put ur hand on the rump

    2) walk in a semi circle shape

    3) walk close to them so if they do kick they can get power so it just feels like a nug

and horses legs can only extend so far so if u r far enough away they can't kick u

  • lol I was like WTF? when she first walked around the horse like 10ft away xD

  • i do too!! haha

  • 1st red flag: this is the same chick from those "english riding" videos that actually demonstrates in a western saddle.

Another thing- I don't know if I'm the only one that does it, but I put the elastic on the LEFT side.

  • i put eleastic on the left to

    > >

  • your supposed to walk close to the orses butt and put your hand on her butt so they know your their

  • seriously....also....you never tie a horse to the rail of the fence....just the post....and ever heard of a safety knot? sheesh

  • i know it is ;]]

  • yeah, it is a shame, its like shooting on the Red Cross! But she is absolutely useless

  • "oh and i always walk like 20ft behind my horse...because im to cool of a so called "expert" to just put my hand on my horses butt and walk around that way!"

  • or jusr walk under there neck?!lol

  • haha yeah thats what i do!

  • i know right!

"hi im Kelly and i know nothing about horses! and i dont care at all when my horse is cribbing on the fence in like every one of my videos!"

  • lol i dont even think she has a position. all she does is bounce around on her horses back like the fatass she is. hahah no wonder her horse as back problems!!

  • She can just put her hand on the horse's butt to go around, but instead she walks ten feet behind the horse. Wow... lol She sucks, she thinks she's a pro.

  • so true...and not only does she suck at doing this kind of shit, she cant ride to save her life either! lol

  • i know! lol

  • why does she have a show pad on top of a saddle pad...? lol

  • sweet! what do you plan on doing?

  • that was really helpful ;)

  • or u could even put ur hand on the back end (butt) of the horse so that they have a less chance of kicking

  • she realy does not kno wat she is doing. She needs to be more careful. wen she was getting the girth she just put her hand under and reached for it with out letting her horse kno!

  • Hey, ilovechip 13, have you had a saddle fit done, I think you may find that the saddle does not fit if it is slipping. It must fit the horse before yourself.

Ps.The elastic end of a one sided girth goes on the right so you dont overtighten!

    Basics!

  • you dont have to get a saddle fit. i have never heard of it even before. it might be that her girth is to loose

  • hi kelly i was wondering if you can get a breast plate for english tack caus i got a saddle on e-bay and i got a elastic girth and my saddle slipt under my horse and he got hurt and i dont know if it was the girth or what please send back - ilovechip

  • You can have one hand on the horse while you walk around it, or you can talk so they know where you are. :)

  • I love your saddle, what brand is it??!
