  • How long dose it take to get the email to download this??

    Can someone please tell me??

  • One question mate, can you change background color to green or blue? I want to make models for chroma keying for movies, and short films.

  • I'm in Awwwww *___*

  • me gusta

  • i made sculpture... and now... for what i can use it ? :) maybe i can sell it ?

  • When I export My painted model There is no paint on it any help?

  • @screamz332 You need to export the texture as well. OBJ files contain nothing except for the model.

  • pff.... that's nothing... i can make a perfect sphere!

  • But will it blend?

  • how do you zoom in to the scene, u are working?

  • Oh gtfo that model at the beginning was ridiculous. This is great that it is free.

  • can you animate with it?

  • Damn this thing is awesome...too bad i dont know how to work with it

  • can it be exported as blend files?

  • ↓...ugh...FAN...not Dan....jeez.

  • I tried using it and Sculptris was using 100% of the i7 processor and my Dan was running like crazy. I have 16 gb ram and a gtx570m graphics card. is there a way to make this program run without crashing?

  • This has to be the best easy 3d sculpt software i've ever used you should try i its so simple to get an object going, the wonderful thing I like about it its such a small piece of software on your hard drive and the ease of use for a beginner is astounding great if you have not got a lot of time to create GO GET IT !!

  • Can these models be used for the Unreal Development Kit (UDK)?

  • Comment removed

  • What would be better and easier to use? Sculptris, or Zbrush?

  • @GamingToaster This thing has all of five buttons, a little exaggeration but this program is very simple compared to Zbrush. It also has one amazing feature, the ability to add geometry as you are sculpting to only the areas that you are adding detail to. The learning curve on this is very small, you can learn all the controls in a half hour. It's also free. Zbrush is much more complex to pick up, you could use zbrush for years and still not have tried all the features.

  • @new2lw Ok, thanks! I'll just try Sculptris then.

  • Pixologic did pick this software up and the developer is now working for them. It looks to me that all the features in Sculptris are actually in Zbrush minus the dynamic tesselation. Pixologic actually pretty much calls Sculptris a gateway sculpting program to Zbrush and that when you are ready you can move to Zbrush. Check the sculptris feature page and read the bottom paragraph. The controls are almost the same so rotating and navigating around your model won't be foreign between programs.

  • wow

  • ... found this on stuble upon. didnt see that it was free till now. wasthinking the entire time "now thats what i've been wanting to do, but that kinda stuff is soooo expensive..."

  • the guy doing the drawing/modeling is a true master, such detail and definition.

  • I DLed it yesterday, and I'm having tons of fun with it. Fantastic program. Far more intuitive than modeling with Blender, though probably limited in some respects. But for creating creatures, faces, and humans, it's excellent.

  • Amazing software and for free, absolutely fantastic, I downloaded it today and just modeled : )

  • Extruding is a thing of the past!

  • When I go to paint an asymmetric model, it mirrors it and makes it two interlocked models. how do I stop that from happening?

  • @greengrendel Isn't there a button to turn off the symmetry?

  • @TorturedXeno That's not what happens, it take the asymmetric model and it's like it turns the symmetry back on before it goes to paint. If I turn symmetry off then in paint, the model stays duplicated, I just can paint it asymmetrically :(

  • This is awesome...

  • I WILL FUCKING END MY COMPUTER FOR NOT LETTING ME OPEN SCULPTRIS

  • i wish you could animate with it =(

  • but will it blend?

  • @themousemaster no use blender for that

  • it wont let me download it wat the heck

  • where do u download it?

  • Anyone know the name of the music that's playing?

  • Oh, Pixologic (makers of ZBrush) are taking care of it and have hired the programmer. So, I guess it won't stay free for very long.

  • @derechteigor actually compared to most other programs zbrush is very cheap, and no sculptris is the first quality free sculptor, they wont change that.

  • What? This is free? Looks very much like z-brush. Awesome!

  • mac osx version?

  • Now if only blenders UI didnt suck you could have sculptris, gimp, and blender as a perfect 100% free workflow.

  • @Iambloodcrazy123

    Blender's UI sucks? Since when?

You, sir, should move to Blender 2.57 instead of sticking to that old 2.49b.

    They really improved lately.

  • @Riboshom I tried every version after 2.49 hoping it would get better and better, but its still horrible. Ill admit they improved and its still a step in the right direction, but their UI is still crippling to anyone used to most standard 3d packages.

  • @Iambloodcrazy123 Yea, good to see that there are free alternatives.

  • So, a program that lets you sculpt anything, as long as it's a creepy monster or just falls into Uncanny Valley. Cool.

  • Finally a zoom on the mousewheel

  • I've been just playing with it and WOW, it's so easy to use, the interface is incredibly intuitive and it took me less then 20 minutes to make a nice little monster. And so far my only experience with 3d software was raging at the interface and the learning curve.

  • Sculptris + Spore = Me never leaving home again

  • The program is very easy to use... You can very easily import alpha brushes for texturing.. and bitmaps for painting along with the color picker and alpha textures.. I think I remember seeing the song posted on the old Sculptris forums.

  • this program is seriously hard to use

  • @pokemonpenguin7 Play with it for a month. You'll start to grasp the basics of it and then you'll be making googly oogly monsters in no time.

  • where do you get the textures?

  • ROFL!!!!..... my computer can't support it :'(

  • Positively amazing!

  • this looks better than mudbox is some ways

  • ok, so is this program limited to organic sculpting? I was hoping i could make models of alien spacecraft and buildings as well

  • @RadicalMassacre You wouldn't be the first to do things like this. It might be more difficult to build it in this instead of something like ZBrush, but it's definitely possible. I've seen it done in the sculptris forums.

  • this is not opensource just free, Blender heads should buy this...

  • That looks awesome!!! Like just what I have been looking for!!!

  • Can I have a copy of that music please? Sounds amazing...

  • This is one of the best things I've stumbled across ever! Could spend hours playing with this, Oh yeah and this is the first time I've commented on Youtube haha, not that I haven't been on here for years but this program seems worth the effort

  • Sculptris + Blender = Free & Epic

  • Nice work guys, you are the best ! Iwouldnt imagine that such program exist for free, its better then Zbrush in my opinion. Love your work. I would like to be helpful as you guys, once in my life. And thank you.

  • Free, but does it includes the skills?

  • @arloyola yes, it's located in the plugin folder!

  • Well learn, i mean nothing includes the skills to do something. You have to get better on your own. Its like riding a bike, or playing baseball, etc etc.

  • this is sooo awesome its like hevean

  • Dayum! This is what I've been looking for!

  • This is how we'll build our avatars for Second Life soon, when mesh import feature will be finally implemented...

  • I love how it does the same thing on both sides with one stroke! I always have trouble with having it look decent on both sides :DD Definate download~

  • HOLY CRAP! This is amazing~

  • Ok Its a great program. I have been following it since it was announced in the old elysium forum 4 years ago. BUT there really does need to be a printable manual for it. Just playing around with things frustrates me.

  • Awesome and free.... Perfect combination

  • how you put this stuff in to *Secondlife from Sculptris PLEASE help cus i am going MAD i cant get it to Work !!! fucking anoying ! i tryed as a bulk and a image

  • this is great

  • GREAT! Very amazing. I will take a look for! :D

  • this is freaking amazing!

  • Wow. Wonderful. Downloading now.

  • in some years we will be able to print this in 3d =D

  • @M4rko009 professionals can print it in 3d to many 3d figureens *expensive printers* wish we had affordible ones for normal people.

  • in the video it looks so easy DX

  • that human body u made it is posible to put it as a shape in secondlife=?

  • you are my idol

you deserve all my respect for having done all that in only 6 months

  • Is the project concluded?

  • @Quikie93 i just meant that eventually Pixologic will decide that there is no point in having another app around that does "essentially" the same stuff as zbrush.. and they'l do away with it, while incorporating what unique features sculptris has into zbrush.

@FacenitOfficial i'm using it on with no issues on a windows 7 machine at work and a Vista machine at home.

  • actualy i am here just for the music. its incredible. ive played this vid like 200 times just to hear to the music over and over.

  • Awesome, I needed a free sculpting software, since I'm going to study game design! :D

  • Просто офигеть можно!!!

  • YES!

    I love this program.

I can make super hi poly models. Even higher than I can in blender.

then I just export to blender and retopologize the hi poly using the shrinkwrap modifier.

    This program is the win.

  • Comment removed

  • I don't like how I can't puncture holes in objects. I've tried, it just messes up the polygons.

  • it would be awesome if couldnt like it but LOVE IT XDD AWEOSME

  • can you make animations out of it

  • so i searched zbrush and does it cost sumthing? and is sculptris free?

  • @a7xfoREVer22 Why don't you read the description?

  • WTF!? Petter sold it to Pixologic!?? We FINALLY had an alternative to Zbrush and Mudbox, and then he goes ahead and kills his own child!? FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • @Bommalomma2 It's still free right now but he has the right to get money for what he's spent so much time on.

  • This is an outstanding piece of free software. The controls are intuitive and even a complete novice to 3d modelling can get great looking results in next to no time.

If you've never tried stuff like this, its an awesome place to start.

  • to which programms can i import the sculptris files (blender???)

  • @larmannjan any programs that accept a .wav format. (yes blender included)

  • The reason pixologic wanted this is because ZBrush's primary problem was its polygon over-extension. Unlike ZBrush which required controlled voxels for expansion of a base, sculptris automatically subdivided when the number of polygons in the affected area became too low, thus never extending polygons beyond their limits creating unsightly overlaps. That being said, zbrush will likely improve the model significantly, and zspheres still have sculptris beat.

  • Doesn't work for windows 7...

  • @FacenitOfficial Yes it does, if it doesn't work for you you're doing something else wrong. I use it and I run windows 7.

  • I would make a giant set of tits

  • OH NO!!! YOu dont have it for Mac??

  • FAKE...... he is oviously using a computer

  • orly?

  • @kdizzzle123 - thats the whole point, he IS using a computer, this is showing off the program silly.

  • @kdizzzle123 wat

  • could you use this to make meshes for games like fallout?

  • @lazathor potentially, since it exports .obj files; you'd need to use another 3D program to actually get any models into the game, however (Blender is another free modeling program that combines nicely with this, and there's a multitude of tutorials for making Oblivion/Fallout content using Blender).

  • this is seriously free? Really? No catch?

  • why do human models always have to be perfectly shaped with all the right muscles in the right place. why can't you ever see fat ugly bastards and women with tits bouncing on the floor when they walk? that's really pathetic.

  • I tried downloading but it said

This server can only be accessed by the proper referring server.

  • wow.....

  • it's pretty much as good as Zbrush :D

  • Great Software DRPetter!

    Very simple to use!

I'm glad pixologic has Sculptris free, till now!

  • I love this program, but I often can't see some part of my sculpture...how do you move it around so you can reach other places?

  • @Chitos69 hold alt and click&drag

or use the middle mouse button

  • @GraveUypo thanks bro

  • Thank you very much for sharing your talent with people. I am a highschool teacher and I think this program is superb for children who are interested in CGI, because its intuitive interface and beautiful design. And it weights less than 4 MB!!!

  • i would give my arm and leg for such skills at sculpting :(

  • Why are people telling me I should use this instead of Zbrush? I'm not meaning that as a confrontation, but I'm genuinely curious. Is it better? What's so great about it?

  • @Bobbiethejean Because it is simple and to the point, thats why.

  • *could

  • couls someone PLEASE give me a link? im dying to download the thing

  • @hottestgirlforever1 Read the fucking description you retard.

  • @iexusuxei No class.

  • Fantastic piece of software. I wish the bigger developers would learn that for the end user simplicity of interface always wins out and this is great. Has all the most important stuff from Z Brush without all the useless clutter. It took me a whole weekend to learn how to import a model into Z Brush, sculpt it and export. It took me 5 minutes in Sculptris....Fantastic!

  • the only thing sculptris dosen't have is an easy way to sculpt non-organic objects like armor without a lot of effort and time, but asides from that it's the best tool to sculpt and i'll mos def stick with the alpha because im not going to pay for it unless it's really cheap. like one-off $30 would be reasonable to me,

sculptris + blender = unstoppable force

I use it for high poly modeling for low poly models in the game engine at the moment...

  • I really hate the workflow in Zbrush so I hope the dont change sculptris to much...

  • Sickly awesome

  • the begining of voxels in ZBrush

    BTW great music,

does anyone know what is its title?

  • AWESOME AND FOR FREE!

  • That is awesome. Commencing download.

  • Is there a mac version?

  • @stanimatorblue BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA IS THERE A MAC VERSION BAHAHAHAHAHA IDIOT

  • Can it convert the model files to the source engine like autodesk

  • I downloaded it and thought it would be compatible with 3dsmax or maya, in case I wanted to export or import projects. Too bad it hasn't. Anyone feeling same?

  • great! now maybe someone could make a better spore game that won't be disappointing; Now that would be awesome!

  • Sir, sorry for my ignorance, but, are you a wizard?

  • .. ya.. now that its under pixologic.. it just means the end of sculptris.. at least as a free project.. its either gonna get abandoned completely.. or end up as some super-cut-down and pretty much useless app that will just have banners "look at all the shit you get if you buy zbrush instead" plastered all over it.. because now that he works for zbrush.. anything useful wont make it to sculptris.

  • This is very powerfull tool :-) I love it but like wrote dsavix4. Download it for free while you still can. :-) Sorry for bad english.

  • Download it for free while you still can. Pixologic (Of Zbrush fame) bought it.

  • Software spettacolare, rispetto a quando ho iniziato io, con il mio amiga 500 dotato di Imagine 2.0, ne è passata di acqua sotto il fiume! Complimenti ai creatori di questo software di modellazione 3d.

  • just amazing

  • これは最高のソフトウェアだ。

  • can you use this 3d modling program for making video games?

  • @gotu308 you can't use any modeling programs fore creating games, what they can do is create models that you can export for use in video game engines.

  • Holy crap it looks so EASY! D8

    I MUST TRY THIS PROGRAM!!

  • heh, people comparing this to Blender or GIMP scare me

  • This is already awesome as it is but... it would probably be better if it was made open source. Unless you want the program to go commercial later, open source is the best way to keep a program alive cause you attract a larger community, and don't need to do everything yourself (the website stated you aren't going to develop this any further, so it would really do the world a favor :O)

  • I'm still pretty new to using Sculptris. Where did you get the brushes you used??

  • ... Can this program make normal or good looking humanoid or girls too, or just monsters O o~!?

  • @ASNZern

The program doesn't make anything. It's a bit like working with clay, you gotta ask the artist doing it. But yeah, for some reasons almost all example models for sculpting programs are monsters or old dudes, probably cause those have a lot of details to show off what the program can do...

  • Somebody hire this man.

  • Whoa, that looks awesome!

  • Love Mudbox and Zbrush, and this is just a pleasant surprise I never expected a free sculpting tool to be available right now.

  • wow . Great i'll work on it .. "learning "

    Thanks a lot

  • Great program!!! Best part was finding out it was free =D

I thought it would cost something :P

  • @RealGamersTV Man, I thought a free sculpting tool was still ways off to come out. This is a pleasant surprise.

  • I think it's safe to say that as a Zbrush user, I find Sculptris to be much better in a way that it's not as complicated as Zbrush yet it's quite a powerful sculpting tool, you can just pop into the software and sculpt anything coming into your mind.

The other cool thing about this is the way the mesh feels like modeling clay being digitalised. Good work!

  • i tried sculptris and i have to say it really makes zbrush and mudbox look like crap. \

but does anyone know how to export displacement maps and normal makes in sculptris ?

  • @3DeeFanatic Have you used Zbrush and Mudbox at all? or are you just saying this based on the price point?

  • @darkmaggot no i actually used zbrush n mudbox. mudbox = shitbox, zbrush is powerful but not the most user friendly interface. Have you used Sculptris ?

  • @3DeeFanatic "They are crap" It is your opinion after all but if they where crap they would not be the industry standard programs for 3D Sculpting.

I love both, I am used to using 3Ds Max so Mudbox was really easy to get into, Zbrush being a 2.5D tool takes a little bit more to get used to but uses less resources from my PC.

It is still cool to see a free sculpting tool around.

  • @darkmaggot hey Microsoft (Windows) a industry standard and its CRAP!!! no offensive just saying

  • @Tekula23 ...windows? Everyone has their own opinions as I said.

Ask any professional 3D artist and they will have different opinions of each program but they will never say "It's Crap" because they actually know how to use each and know their pros and cons.
