Saw it in Stratford, it was really good, a very good adaptation of the original story. Also saw Hansel and Gretal which was also amazing and very well done, check out videos for Tristan and Ysuelt, their best play to daet.
I was hemming and hawing about going to see it. I finally broke down and went after all the raves from friends.I was BLOWN away!!!! So cleverly brilliant!!!! I wanted to go again before it left Charleston, but pretty much sold out :-(
Just saw this in Charleston, SC at the Spoleto Festival and thought it was the highlight of the Festival. A brilliant re imagining of a classic bad boy story. Super acting and clever scenic changes. Loved the female dancing stagehands.
Saw this in Stratford and thought it was an absolute pile of wank. Pretentious, boring, sloppily written, amateurishly acted. This is theatre for dummies. And how can anyone do anything about the 1970s and have it so completely devoid of politics?
Saw it with my performing arts group, possibly the most inspirational and entertaining piece of theater i have ever experienced, an honour to watch, me and a few members of my class got to go on stage with them for a scene when we saw it, the audience involvment was fantastic and the band was just EPIC! Couldnt reccomend it highly enough!
I went to see this with my drama class at Leeds West Yorkshire Playhouse and no doubt in my mind...THIS WAS THE BEST and most AMAZINGLY spectacular play I have ever seen- from the get-go it was entrailing and entrancing- thank you for the experience and the best play....to have been performed...
I am in love it...Don stole my heart as did the production...we bought the cd and havnt stopped playing it since :)
omg we danced with the actors how cool is that we all rock i was like so jealous of the girl who danced with john but to dance with the audience at the end was cool of them.....oh the power of being at the front row XD
Hi Steph - There are indeed 2 different performers playing John. In Leeds John was played by Tristan Sturrock. In this trailer he is played by Gisli Orn Gardarsson. Hope that helps...
I saw it in Newcastle with Gisli and he was absolutely amazing, not to mention very gorgeous! I really hated the girl who got to dance with him at the end, and the two lads I was sat next to got to dance and there was only me that didn't.
Saw this last night at West Yorkshire Playhouse too! It was SOOO good...the song that finished the first act was so good and the woman singing was incredible! I am a big fan of kneehigh theatre so when we had an post-show chat with them i was really giddy and could not stop laughing!!
I saw this in Warwick and loved it! the music was sooo unique and clever, and the whole production will stick in my mind for ages! (I also made the VI formers jealous cuz i danced with tristan at the end! :P )
This production was fab.... infact, the best kneehigh play i've seen (i saw brief encounter too!)
I loove Gisli örn, the guy who plays Don John!! I would really like to see this play, and I love the song!!

Unfortunately I missed this in Warwick, but got to see it today at the Battersea Arts Centre. Was AWESOME!
I'm at drama school doing Actor Musicianship, so I really want to go into exactly this kinda show!
I got nervous at the end, and cowered in my seat to avoid dancing! Haha. Wish I did now!
A good show. I saw Cymbeline at the Birmingham Rep a few years ago and that was AMAZING also.
Drama love to all! x
