@petepenguin its on the biggest sand island in the world thousands of years old were tall timber rain forest lakes / bodys of water formed  called fraser island. i live just near this place , you need a 4x4 and catch a ferry over . no roads just old sand logging trails ,the main beach is a hi-way in peak tourist time.

there are some lakes like this in northwest florida, though i think now days most of them are privately owned by gated communities. i remember swimming in a lake like this when i was a kid. and it had huge turtles in it too.

This water is amazing ........But it would be remiss not to mention the incredibly BLUE WATERS of Esperance in Western Australia..

Just as blue with the added BOnus of Achipeligo with in swimming range of the say Light House beach!!
