  • Way beyond "kick drum egregious!"

  • nice, but too early, if a2 are reference.

    anyway, great.

hammer goes with snare and almglocken part.

    how You are doing it?

  • I love how he tries to make it look as epic as he can

  • Hi thor!

  • que pichazo

  • TTTTTHHHHOOOOORRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

  • Is an instrument the hammer??

  • hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Please, Hammer... don't hurt 'em.

  • how solemnly he approaches the hammer...

  • E=MCHammer.

  • You should check out the recording of the Lucerne Festival orchestra playing Mahler 6 conducted by Claudio Abbado... It's AMAZING! The whole piece is, but the hammer is pretty sweet, nice and loud too!!

  • I like the way the camera shakes because of the vibrations. Impressive indeed.

  • I like the way the camera shakes because of the vibration. Impressive indeed.

  • where can you find a hammer like that?!

  • wow that camera was shaking, too bad the crash cymbals go at the same time, can't hear it as well.

  • Nobody put it up yet???

    Hammer time!

  • i love it!

    its all like BAM

  • i think it is the best video ever....how many times have i seen it??? like 30 times?? the power of the Hammer!!

  • The Hammer of Thor

  • BOOM! Impressive. He didn't look to happy to do it. Recent interpretations include the third, which is rather sad.

    Incredible!!

  • Exciting! bEst video ever!!

  • VERY EXCITING! BEST VIDEO EVER!!!

  • Now THAT'S a hammer. Love how its up on a podium all its own. ;)

  • But did the performance include the THIRD hammer blow which Mahler removed from the score but which shortly before his death he was thinking about reinstating? Bernstein is one of the very few conductors to include that third hammer blow, but in his DG recording he puts it in the wrong place, ten bars too early! The only other conductors I know who include it in commercial CD recordings are Simon Rattle (muffled)and Georg Solti (a real shock, massive impact).

  • No, but I can't remember for sure.

  • 1. There's no evidence Mahler ever wanted to reinsert the hammerblow.

    2. The Bernstein DG recording has it in the correct place, you're mistaking a bass drum for the hammer. The DVD with the Vienna Phil shows it in the correct place, and it's correct on the NYP recording, so why would he suddenly put it in the wrong place?

  • Bernstein doesn't put the hammerblow too early in any of the recordings I have (Sony, DG and the DG DVD). The third blow comes right where it was written. Are you sure you aren't mistaking a bass drum hit for it?

  • In the score I have, all 3 hammer blows are in their

  • muy bueno!,........ aye Poppy!!!

  • YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • EXCELLENT! Exciting!!!

  • One of the greatest moments in the mahler symphonies. mmm

  • I couldn't hear it but I think I can feel it...

  • whoa! what instrument did he hit with that?!

  • Mahler called for a "Resonant Case" to be struck with a big hammer. That's what that box is. \m/

  • EP puts more hurting on his mallet than MC Hammer, the Hebrew Hammer, and Rodgers & Hammerstein combined!!!
