how did you get the ultrapin controls and plunger to work with vp mame ? i have an ultapin i took out the pc and put in a new pc i7 but cant get the ultrapin controls and plunger to work in vp mame ? can you help thanks
@veganath UltraPin is a Hardware, a Pinball Cabinet with 32" and 19" Display and a PC in it, original delivered with 12 Tables emulated. (its >6 years old, so with a better PC you get better 3D Graphics, no lag and so on)
Hyperpin is a Front end to start the emulators which runs on every PC, (also on rotated Screens) - with this front end and a Cabinet Pinball you can play over 100 Tables on a "real machine".
@UltraPinOnSteroids Thanks for clearing this up for me, appreciate it. I'm kinda hanging out for any benefits to realism that may be gained by using actual 3D displays, the ones where you may need to wear those glasses.
@veganath :) this is exactly what i try at the moment - running this with a 3d LCD. formaly I try to use a headtracking system, which doesnt give a good realistic feeling. Now I try to use shutter glasses, at first on my PC maybe later on the UltraPin (means a new display). Today, the emulator doenst work perfect with glasses.
A bigger issue: the screen is rotated and active shutter glases doesnt work rotated. :(
these things suck balls. virtualpinball is like 4 years old and the guy who bought them out stopped production on it to market these things. he's also going to prison over his case with arcade legends mame cabinets.
the bad thing is there is no depth in the graphics, and what made pinballs interesting is the dark contrast and vibrant colors. if you are going to blow this much money on a HD tv, get a real pinball or buy the TV and a better pinball game for PS3
1) prison? bullshit, the guy (FP core developer) works in my company
2) UltraPin was produced by Global VR
3) sure, there is no real depth... like all other PC simulations: its still a plain screen (32" TFT), but it has a 3D model just press F2 and you get the classical PC view
4) the best pinball sim (graphic, gameplay and physics) is still Pro Pinball: Timeshock! from 1997
5) you never get the "machine" feeling with PS3/XBOX360 (I know it, I own both)
This is very cool!!! But I thought the whole idea of Ultrapin was that they would come out with add on packs to add more tables, are they not doing this? Is Ultrapin even supported anymore? How is the quality in comparison of the original Ultrapin tables versus the Future Pinball tables?
GlobalVR stopped selling this thing, but still supporting it. The machine is based on a standard PC hardware with WindowsXP and special controller for force feedback, mechanical plunger and so on. There is no need for official addons so many tables are available from the community.
I prefer Future Pinball (looks better) but VisualPinball (the 12 original tables are based on VP) has the better ball physic. But who cares, you can play both :)

So basically... I'm stealing this from you soon... so... lock your doors...
No, but seriously, coolest thing ever. I consider this superior to a collection of 10 or so real pinball machines...
