Great job. Maybe if the official trailer were more like this, or if that trailer was THIS, the movie would have gone over better. I still don't think this movie got a fair shake from moviegoers and critics alike. No, it's not perfect, but Michael Mann doesn't tend to make bad movies. They may not be perfect, they may even be undercooked, but they all have a coolness to them, and great cinematography and use of music. Miami Vice is no different. For mood, ambience, it's hard to beat.

@tvkhwar1 - I think Crockett says the word, "verboten" in the trailer. The word means "forbidden" or "taboo" or "prohibited". It's an odd word to say in a modern film and I'm very glad it was taken out of the final cut of the film as I'm sure the audience (as well as a lot of people online) wasn't sure what the hell he was saying or even meaning to say.

Yes, theatrical was not good, becouse it was version from producers. Mann has got own unrated directors perfect version with more beautiful scenes, change music in the end, they cut boring scene, so the movie has got similar time. Now is perfect. Cover in the air tonight before shoot scene is masterpiece. Only unrated directors cut. 10/10

Colin Farrel is more of an actor than Don Johnson, but the chemistry between the people was just not here for this, and I don't think Jamie Foxx is quite capable of filling PMTs shoes on this. Nobody could fill Edward James Olmos shoes in this, except maybe, and just maybe, you could get Jimmy Smitts to pull it off, or possibly Lou Diamond Phillips. Otherwise switch to a white guy like one of the Baldwins.

@Borin81 - Hey, Borin. Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, it wasn't the "80's style" that made the program what it was. It was the hip, trendy feel of the episodes, the use of music and the cinematic presentation that made Miami Vice great.

The reason that this version of MV wasn't as well-received was because of the lack of chemistry between the leads and the fact that it was more of a dark procedural rather than "MTV Cops".

@Borin81 - Well, actually, Miami Vice was a hit because it was ahead of its time. As I said, it was pure cinema. As it progressed, the neon was gone and it became darker and the tone of the series changed. The reason the movie didn't resonate was because people mistakenly remembered it as an all-80's show and were expecting silliness. Michael Mann really wanted something like this...it's just that he needed more chemistry and energy and couldn't get it.
