You need to be using the 900MHz band because commercial microwave ovens use 915 MHz. The blackberries are probably using the 1800 or 1900 MHz signals, so it wouldn't work. A better test would be to use your wireless card or router at maximum strength, making sure it's using 802.11b or g. At 2.4GHz it is using the same frequency as your home microwave.
