Why all the hating on his voice? Because he's not singing in the same octave range or moving the same note steps of Kris?

He's singing where he's comfortable. And if you listen, the the incorporated non-diatonic passing tones are executed beautifully. Whether this was intentional or happened on the day of recording, it came out well.

Guitar and studio are pretty good, but your vocals need work. U do have VERY noticeable range issues u need to work on, but that's something many singers have/need to overcome. On the notes u CAN hit, u hit the wrong ones. i don't know if you're trying to take creative license or just don't notice it. Regardless, u need to realize u are not hitting the right notes, & the attempt at being creative failed miserably. Personalize & add your own style to the song when u can sing the original well.
