Anyone who trains mma will tell you how difficult it is to add on weight given the amount of calories they burn. It's unheard of. He gained around 40 lbs of lean muscle in a span of about 3 years while training mma. I don't think I have to say what my opinion is. You figure it out.

As long as in you intake the proper amount of calories in while you train you can gain weight, especially when your basically adding power lifting to your schedule. I started liting less than a year ago, and within about 3 or 4 months, I went from 125 lbs, to 155 lbs, and I am 5.6% body fat. Its really all genetics, how your body's built.

He wasn't able to do any weight training because he had too much trouble cutting weight and was having trouble fighting LHW as well as the fact his mom had cancer and I believe he had some pressing legal issues. Once he moved up to HW he has done nothing but dominate. He doesn't have talent or skills? Have you watched him fight? He is full of both. He hasnt needed any other strategy besides being himself. Yeah he passed his last drug test against Rogers but he also came in lighter at 253 Usually he fights at 260 (When he's not being drug tested). There is no way you can put on that much mass in a couple years and he did it in less than a year.

@blkbrucelee yeah man overeem will cause alot of problems for many heavyweights in the ufc but everyone forgets overeem has 11 loses , that means he can be defeated and the fact cain velasquez is classed as possibly one of the heaviest hitters in heavyweights in ufc means he could knock overeem out , cains undefeated as of yet so nobody knows a solution to defeat him yet , there are a few ways to defeat overeem as past fights show , my personal opinion is that overeem has bulked up more

@suparpowers all people can grow muscle. i am the slim type with a high metabolism, was always one of the weakest guys at my age. i trained hard and disciplined, meaning train right eat right recover right, and it took a while but i put on lots of lean muscle and strength. anybody can do it
and if YOU would train or at least had good theoretical knowledge about the human body, you would know what is possible naturally. the kind of lean muscle on alistair is not possible naturally, period

@suparpowers Alistair's last fight at 205 was in 2007. Presently, he is lean 162. He gained a shit load of weight, while still training mma. Anyone who trains mma will tell you how difficult it is to add on weight given the amount of calories they burn. It's unheard of. He gained around 40 lbs of lean muscle in a span of about 3 years while training mma. I don't think I have to say what my opinion is. You figure it out.

@taluce This comment shows alot of ignorance, maybe you don't realize it, especially cuz you havent payed attention to his career, but around 05-07 when he started losing because of gassing, it was because he was cutting alot of weight, when he was fighting 205, he was walking around about 230, and eventually the cuts were too hard. He also didnt train heavy at all, because at his size, and needing to make the cut, he couldnt, now he does, so ya, its not that unbelievable.

You can see his abs like crazy and his chest striations, so that is at least a solid 40 lbs of lean muscle he's gained. He's even said himself that he's gained ten lbs of muscle a year since like 2006. That's the kind of results bodybuilders get, but Alistair is getting these same results? While burning thousands of calories a day training mma...

@taluce Well, as I said, he didnt lift heavy at all, when he was fighting 205. He gets proper rest and whatnot, have you seen his diet? As long as in you intake the proper amount of calories in while you train you can gain weight, especially when your basically adding power lifting to your schedule. I started liting less than a year ago, and within about 3 or 4 months, I went from 125 lbs, to 155 lbs, and I am 5.6% body fat. Its really all genetics, how your body's built.
