Janet and her voice was never made for a girl group. It was too stand-out and did not blend in well with others. Neither did Janet's looks and features. Not very "PLAY". Janet's voice was made for solo music like she's doing now and is excelling at very well with her new album.
Faye was amazing! She is much better than Janet and had more experience and training when she (Faye) joined the group as well.
If Janet was picked as original lead and not Faye, PLAY would never have made it that far
In reality, FAYE killed the group. SHE made PLAY what it was. She was the rock. Then she just left with no regard for where the group would go or if they would break up.

I would feel very devastated to..It happened to me before and I did felt like there's no way we're gonna do our music anymore or perform again together...it was a heart break thing and you feel like you can't get up because they're the one that got you where you are..and just so you know I'm using my friend's account. lol but nice knowing this group have so much power
ive noticed that in most bands when one member leaves, and they get a new member, or they just carry on, they always end up breaking up after a few singles or an album
anyway i miss play, they were awesome and they're music will carry on throughout the years and they will never be forgotten

Their last album was a "Greatest Hits" type album. All songs on that album were recorded with Faye, Janet wasn't featured (and for good reason ;-) )

I think THEY truly wanted to split after Faye left BUT they were under contract for 5 albums.
They had a 5-album record deal - whether Faye was there or not.
