  • Hey how's the photo quality on the camera? Also how's the mic on it? I see that it picks up a lot of background noise on the videos that i seen but is the sound bearable when recording loud situations? Thanks.

  • I wish it did 60fps...seems choppy

  • Good camera test, thanks. Albequerque looks pretty nice too. I almost went there for work, now I'm wishing I did.

  • can you edit your vidoes with windows movie maker and still keep the HD format?

  • yeah when u publish it u have to put it in an HD format

  • Do you use Windows Movie Maker

  • I'm thinking of getting one of these.. It does save in H.264 avi format right? What was the building you arrived at? The brick work with morter looks European by design.. but perhaps it was something else..? Just curious. Also, did I hear you set your car alarm when you got out? hehe.. You can't trust anyone these days.. seriously...

  • did you have it on normal or infiinity? looks odd to me

  • I had it set on normal. As I said in the description....it was an extremely overcast day so it was not really great for taking the video. This was my initial test. Wanted to upload it to You Tube to see what it looked like. The camera is really small so I'm not sure how great the IS feature comes in to play if you are walking and bouncing around. It does works great if you are pretty still while shooting. If you own one you'll know what I mean. But....I need better zoom capability.

  • Is this is the badlands?

  • its like when your leaving town i hate albuquerque lol

  • What kind of road is this?

  • good video

  • you have successfully passed the drivers test ! good work !

  • why does my hd video skip when i play it on the computer? its jumpy, know why?

  • Are you talking about a video you took which is on your own computer or are you talking about watching any HD video on You Tube?......or one you uploaded to You Tube? Really need more info. Usually choppy HD video watching on You Tube is a buffering problem caused by a slower internet connection. I'm not an expert however by any means. Somebody else may have some better input.

  • I mean I have the same exact camera, i took the video on the camera, and when played on the camera it is not choppy, but when i upload it onto the computer it is choppy

  • Oh.....ok. Yes, that is that apple .mov format video it takes. I have the same problem even on my newest(and fast) computer with 6 gig of DDR3 ram. It would no doubt play fine using apple quicktime but I hate quicktime. I refuse to install it. It's too buggy and always messes with your system for what its worth. Maybe fine on an Apple system but I don't care. I use either Gom player or VLC player to view them. It is easy enough to convert them to another format though.

  • I tried playing it with VLC and now it's not choppy.

Before I was using quicktime but it made it choppy. UNLESS I put the size of the video a little small and it would work fine with quicktime.

  • how large is a 5 min video file? Did you compress it before uploading to Youtube? thanks

  • I forget exactly how large the file was. Couple hundred meg or so but you can upload up to a 1 GB file. The SD780 saves video in the .mov format. I converted it to the H.264 codec using a software program. That also shrunk the file size down. You Tube recommends the H.264 codec for your high def uploads.

  • thanks for the reply! appreciate it.

  • Isn't the .mov format it saves it as H.264? I could have sworn I read that it was in the manual.

I'm going to try using HandBrake to compress the files a tad as it takes FOREVER for me to upload to YouTube. on DSL.

  • hey sandiaman1, does the playback button on your cam feel softer than the rest?it feels softer on mine, is that normal?

  • Well, I have the black one and I'm not totally sure exactly which one you are talking but all the buttons on mine all feel pretty sold. The top left one on the back face, if that is the one you mean, is as solid as the rest of them. There is no soft or rubbery effect to any of them.

  • thanks dude, i just exchanged it and the new 1 works better. there was a glitch with the first 1. its cool now. lets hope i can take some good videos like urs, peace

  • Hey Sandiaman,

I've driven that road many, many times in the past 25 years. Hope your enjoying your new Canon HD camera, I know I'm enjoying my new Panasonic HD camera!! I hope you take some video of the TWA crash site near my new cache on the Domingo Baca Trail. I'm interested to see if you approach it from the La Luz Trail like ganelo suggest in his book. We walked up the steep canyon to around 9400 ft., but eventually lost the trail in the thick tree cover.

    Jeff

  • Losing the trail. I would not want to do that after walking all that ways. That's why I mention to you the idea of approaching it from the top. Thinking about doing it in the next couple weeks. I'll make sure to have your cache loaded in my GPSr. By the way, that Canon SD780 is ok but the zoom is crap. Totally useless in HD mode, but you can't expect it all for a totally new camera design I guess. Super small and costs less then 300 bucks. Hard to beat for the HD feature.

  • Great! Very helpful Im considering this camera also, how large was the original file of this 6 min video on the SD card?

  • Just did a search and found it. It was 220 meg.

  • Thanx dude!

  • Nice drive I cant wait to get back to good old USA

  • Hey you.:-) I was just testing this new Canon SD780 IS. Just came out. Hard to believe you can get 720P HD video on something this small. I really like it. It's the smallest digital camera I have ever owned. 12 megapixel still shots too. Pretty impressive how fast this stuff improves techwise. And the price is small too. You throw a 16 gig SD card in this and your ready to roll. You can take over an hour of HD video. Hope life is going well over there across the pond in Brighton. Peace out.

  • Thanks! I think the quality is great!
