When Afghans were originally called Kushan people, they taught Buddhism to China and Japan. Ancient Afghans/Kushans were great scholars, monks, meditation masters, and philosophers. I hope Afghans and Pakistanis can remember their glorious past when they were peaceful Buddhists teaching Buddhism to other countries.

And in 2000, after 3 years of discussions and rulings. They came to a conclusion to demolish one of over 20 statues.

When I was a child, I was given a rather thick(or so it seemed at the time) book detailing various historical sites/artifacts in the world, including the Bamiyan Buddhas, who were depicted on the cover as well.
I remember being amazed as a child at the size of them, and how much effort it must've taken to create them. I wanted to see them someday.

If Afghans return to their Original most Peaceful religion of Buddhism, there will be a new era of Peace and Enlightenment in that area. When Afghans were originally called Kushan people, they taught Buddhism to China and Japan. Ancient Afghans/Kushans were great scholars, monks, meditation masters, and philosophers. I hope Afghans and Pakistanis can remember their glorious past when they were peaceful Buddhists teaching Buddhism to other countries.

@CyberSarayaRPG No... atheism is the possibility to live your life without getting toxicated or influenced by something, which can't be proofed... why should i follow ghosts, noone who lives today has seen before?
And can you tell me, how two giant statues can harm people, just standing there as examples for the past and monuments of human history? I always thought, picturing of Allah or Mohammed is forbidden, like it is forbidden to make a picture of god in "my" religion...

@godofnarf There are differnet opinions about picturing is islam...
Most islam scholars say videos are allowed also photos.
But it's very clear in the deliveries of our prophet that making pic's of humans and animals are forbidden also building of humans and animals are forbidden.
And picturemakers get cursed as far as I know...
So much to the islam lessons.
