I have this board in my computer along with a GeForce 9500 GT. Recently I went out and bought another GeForce 9500 GT for a great price on Cyber Monday.
Lo and behold, I went and got my box for this motherboard only to realize it doesn't support Crossfire and SLI like I originally thought.
Would it still be worth it to install the other video 9500 GT card even without SLI and Crossfire support?
very happy with this board really stable and easilly overclockable regarding the north bridge i am using custom mosfet heatsinks for cooling the mosfet and they stay in place with the provided thermal pad cpu temp stays @34c on air this is my current set up for now in a micro atx case. but for some reason i did a fresh install of battle field 2 doesnt work at all but bad company 2 and far cry load no problem any advice will help!
@Ksp1337 cooks in a bad way or good way im curious what do you do for cooling, i just ordered this board and 16gb of ram using a core I3-530 for my 1st build and i have xfx 5670 as a main card + 9400gt for the physx will this be okay on this board?

@Ksp1337 Yes, on the top. I have this MB and I run a GeForce 470GTX with a GTS250 running the PhysX. Plays BFBC2, Black Ops, Mafia II, and most new games on full graphics. If you get the full 16mb ram this thing cooks. Hope that helps.
its having a restart problem since a long time ...only restart at the loging..when i enter the password .. bluescreen appere and restart it will happen for a several time but i switch off the pc from the switch and turn on..there is no problem why is it

I recently built a computer for my co-worker using this board. I used an Apevia QPack2 w/ the 500w PSU on it. Its only been a week and he is getting the blue screen error message. My main concern is that there wasn't an 8 pin connector to the motherboard so I just used the 4 pin on the PSU. Do you think that there might not be enough power going to the board, causing the error? Thanks! :D
That all depends on the type of apps being used, if your gaming then this may not be the best option as there is no SLI or Crossfire support. but it will support 16GB of ram.
Only thing I think I should mention is the eSATA port on the I/O plate isn't a USB combo port like on the UD4. It's just a regular, unpowered eSATA port.
It will not affect performance, but if you pump monster voltage through your CPU with a board like this you can expect it to die earlier without cooling on the MOSFETs.
I doubt i will be overclocking either, the MOSFETs still get hot to touch as it is. But at least my mind is at a little more at ease about my motherboard frying in the near future.
It won't support it properly. The bottom PCIe slot is only going to run at 4x off the chipset. For full speed crossfire you need to have the PCIe lanes off the CPU PCIe controller.
Performance WILL be impacted if you try to run Crossfire on this board.
entry level? for me, this is a main level Mobo :P

Oh i got the samme motherboard !
What you told about the pci express ports means that it's best to have your graphics card in the top pci port? is that right?
Feedback please ;)

does anyone know if this motherboard can support crossfire with 2 ati 5850 ?

It can but i wouldnt recommend it, it can only run crossfire at 4x + 4x

get the latest driver from gigabyte website.
it's okay to use 4pin connector.

Thanks for that rapid fire review, most reviewers go too slow. found that easy to watch and a great preview

I'd like to know as well. That's what I have coming in the mail, as well as other things for a new build.

thx

The F3 BIOS has had some problems on this mobo so its advised to update to the F4 or later BIOS for better stability & performance.

i saw some review i5 750 got to 4ghz @ 1.35v or something on this board. Not sure if the board last long with this config

Gigabyte put AL888 audio chips on all its 1156 boards up to the UD5. If you want AL889 & eSata your only choices are UD5, UD6, UD4P & this
Its cheap compared to the other 1156 Gigabyte boards (about half the cost of the UD6)
If you plan to run one GFX card you should put this on your shortlist
The only two cons I have found (so far) for this board are:
1. Some users raised concerns about the battery being so close to the CPU
2. Lack of MOSFET cooling may be an issue if you plan to overclock

Nice vid and I have this board, but it's a poor example to put your hands over it. It comes in anti-static bag for reason.

Good review, is the lack of MOSFET cooling going to affect performance at all, I have this board and i'm wondering if i should be concerned at all?

Thanks for the tip! I don't intend to OC the i5 as it's a computer for a girl at work here, so I think I should be okay.

I don't understand. You said no support for Crossfire. CrossfireX is printed on the board. What is Crossfire X ? PS Love Gigabyte boards !
