the PC-98 version had more distortion giving it a darker sound. guitars would be more appropriate imo. also the "chorus" is incorrect in this vid. its missing an instrument or two
I have to agree with vivisapprentice21, this would make a really awesome stage theme, but it's definitely missing something as far as Yuka's theme is concerned. Great remake, though.
It doesn't sound as...fierce as it does in the actual version. This sounds more like a stage theme rather than a boss theme but that's just my opinion.
@vivisapprentice21 Gotta agree with you, the simpler notes of the PC-98 gave the song much more power when it was needed, these "current" instruments lack that power and thus the feeling of insanity the original had.
@vivisapprentice21 if you ask me, this could work for an epic credits sort of song. It's calm enough for credits, but it's lively and epic enough to still be awesome.
@TearGrande I agree with you about the song for an epic credits. Especially since it gives it the undertone of a stronger foe ahead (EX/Phantasm boss).
This is terrible version. Does no good to original.

This remaster needs to be less like Emotional Skyscraper and more like Hartmann's Youkai Girl.
Then you would get that feeling of absolute dread.

Better idea: more like Old Distant Hermit with the Spirit World version layered over it. THAT'S dread.

The trumpets give it the powerful feeling of the original...but the elegant like notes just......make it seem calming.

I... actually like the original better. This is more of a stage theme. A really good stage theme.

Indeed. I'm not sure what instruments would have made it better, though.. Something to match par with those fierce 8-bit esque beeps.
