  • He needs to annunciate a little better, but other than that, AWESOME JOB!

  • how did you find the scripts for curtains

  • I saw "Curtains" on broadway with the original cast and I can honestly say that this is one of the best sung version I've found on youtube beside the broadway version. You've got an amazing voice and I don't think it was operatic at all, he sung it the way it's suposed to be sung.

  • doing this in the fall and I just want to say I thought this was excellent

  • I agree with singsingsing1, alot of the monroe kids overact. And he overrehearses them. I doubt Mr. Director is considered 1 of the best in the state. Nick is good, and now he is getting classical voice training, but not acting, which is what he needs. MTHS kids do the best they can with what they have in the program, based on how much money the district gets for this type of thing, but SPlink51, do you ever go to shows at other high schools? Some of them make Monroe look like a backyard show

  • That last line sounds kind of harsh Sorry.. Like I said, the program can only do what there is money for. I think we have a very good choral program in Monroe and as a result good singing in the shows. The chorography in the shows is good, overall. But many kids need acting direction. Someone below said that if they overact, it's because they do it on their own. Well, what is there a director for? SHouldn't he be guiding them?

  • I wonder what makes this splinky51 thinks he knows his shit and puts comments on all of these videos......get a life buddy!

  • This kid is going places if this is where he is senior year of high school. Vocal and acting training is what it's all about and that's where he is right now in one of the TOP schools. I hope those who criticized will come back here eating their crow when he's made it as he surely will.

  • he has a very nice voice but he's sing this like he's in an opera. This is NOT an operatic song. If he tried to make his voice sound a little more conversational and a little less formal this would be beautiful.

He still did a very good job, but with a little bit of work, he would be an excelent broadway singer. He has excelent tone quality... he just sounds like he's holding back his voice too much.

  • He is and will be for a long time the best singer at MTHS even though he graduated I loved his performance and I loved him...he's such a nice guy sobplz don't make fun of him on here it's really rude

  • He does have a good voice when he gets going. He was one of the better singers at MTHS. The problem he has is the one most of the kids in the shows have. The "director" gives NO training in acting, thinks yelling, t-a-l-k-i-n-g-r-e-a-l-s-l-o-w, (comic characters) and overacting is acting. A few kids have the talent to get past this. The rest aren't terrible, but they could be alot better with the correct training. I know. I've been part of it.

  • @MsSingsingsing1 The director at MTHS is one of the best in the state. He's had many successes with his students going into this business. Never will you see over acting on his stage unless the performer does it on his own. You couldn't be more wrong.

  • @splinky51 musical are meant to be over-acted and over the top. It's how you take the audience to a different place

  • Ok listen people its not good to critsize the people you dont know and I'm not taking his side. Lets see you get up there in front of tons of people and sing. I dont think hes bad and hes not amazing but he is very good for his age. So have a heart and drop the attitude.

  • very good. my school is doing it soon.

  • This is a frustrating video. I played this same character for my High School production, and I agree with some of the comments below. there are segments where he really hits the notes. But more than not he isn't hitting the right notes and it changes he feel of the song. That's not to say he doesn't have a voice. He does. It just needs to be trained more, and he definitely needs more acting experience.

  • Those who can, do, those who can't, criticize

  • BUTCHERED MY FAV SONG IN THAT MUSICAL!!!! how did he get casted with that voice. i guess it's ok for high school theatre

  • quit buttering the kid up. He isn't great. His problem is that he needs acting experience. His voice is good yet obviously untrained.

My constructive criticism: Anunciate your words more precicely when hitting high notes such as after the key change in this song. In addition, work on becoming the character Aaron rather than regurgitating his lines. This makes the show seem more realistic and makes your character easier to connect with.

  • agreed my friend. that's why it's high school theatre

  • Amazing job.

  • Pleasant voice! There are times when your vocal production was really stunning. Like on the word "try" at the beginning. That was gorgeous. Great job on a CRAZY hard sing.

  • this is my favorite song in curtains and you sang it amazingly!!!

    I loved it!

  • Going along with what MegMarieSant333 was saying, you are an awesome singer actor and dancer, and an all around nice guy....I was glad to have met you and don't listen to what other people say, especially if they don't know you...Good luck in the Fall and please come back to visit "your fans" if you will at MTHS

  • Nick, don't listen to negativity. You are the most talented guy I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Constructive criticism is nice, but there is a way to say things so that it is not viewed as "bashing" a person.

I don't think the person who commented before intended to be that harsh, just merely expressing an opinion that he thought would benefit you in the end.

Keep being you and keep being awesome! No matter what, you're gonna make it big!

  • Great version of the song. The video does not do justice for those of us lucky enough to see the performance in person. Good luck in college!

  • Thank you for your kind criticism. Although I've had no formal training I hope to succeed and improve my voice at Mason Gross in the Fall. Thanks again.

  • Thats fantastic!! and I wish you the best of luck in the field. I do apologize for the negativity however I simply wanted to present the difficulty of the industry to you. I have known many who begin their vocal career with tender voices with ranges extending to the F# on top as in this song and become great vocalists. Its a great start and a great base for moving up as it is frequently easier to add strength to the voice through breathing technique than to burgeon a range. Break-a-leg!

  • Mr. Garnier, why all the negative comments for an aspiring performer? Not enough hugs from mommy? Your profile indicates that you are an 18 yr old that has posted other obnoxious remarks. In another post you indicated that you were a NY director. Are you the famous Charles E. Garnier who directs traffic in NY? Or are you the famous person they named Chuck E. Cheese after? Based on your other posts, you seem to be the President of the Jason Daniely fan club. Can he walk on water also?

  • No, I am not the president of that club nor am I the traffic director and should you ever be in NY and see one who is not a police officer let me know. I am actually charles garnier the 1860's theatrical architect come back from the dead. But in reality criticism is a thing to be taken and grown from and in addition see my above comment in response to sherjim1. And in regard to my age: personal privacy and security.
