ive had that problem before. i had some 1.4g consumer shells sitting for a while. when i shot them, out of 12 only 6 worked. a few flowerpotted and some of the stars even blew blind. some star comps go bad after age so i guess thats why.

I made some 6mm bottle rockets once, the propellent was potassium chlorate and charcoal, about 15 of them flew perfectly, the last one though exploded as soon as the fuse hit the propellent, it was like a big firecracker. I could not find even one piece of it afterward, not even the stick.......
