One of the best examples was the flipper he bowled Alec Stewart with....a couple of balls before he set him up with a half tracking leggie that Stewart cut to the boundary for 4...a couple of balls later he bowled the faster flipper which landed in roughly the same place on the wicket but being the flipper, it scooted through and bowled Stewart neck and crop...very smart bowler.
warne was a great bowler all right, but the lack of sportsmanship when murali was about to overtake him was poor, it was obvious him and terry jenner were trying to stirr some thing
What a cricketer! He was a great bowler. And while I will judge him by what he did in test cricket, his greatest spell of bowling came in that 99 world cup sf. Australia were dead and buried. The early morning moisture had dried up and the South Africans were romping home. He first got Gibbs with a beauty and then the others with mouth watering leg spin bowling. He picked four that day. What a spell. Just the absolute best
@Aheadstix85 What are we jealous of??... We have Swann and who do you have... North?, Hauritz?, Fasier? None of them compare, Who's jealous? I know me or any England fan now arnt.
shane warne is a great spinner but against india he struggled. Indian batsman love spinners for me he is not a spinner unless you are good against india.
Shane Warne is indisputably the greatest leggie to have played test cricket, and since India are just one of eight test playing countries now (and nine for a long period of time during Warne's careers, 1/9 of the sample cannot be used to evaluate the remaining 8/9 of the sample)
Name me a bowler who didn't struggle against someone, somewhere.
Chances are you won't find anyone in living memory who comes close to fitting the bill as Warne and Murali do.
@AnkurRC "Name me a bowler who didn't struggle against someone, somewhere"
Malcolm Marshall struggled against NO opposition or conditions. Richard Hadlee is another one. Imran Khan would be a third contender. Glenn McGrath as well.
The fact that Warne was pedestrian against Indian batsmen (on spin-friendly tracks, may I add) would always pull him back a peg or two. And he played plenty of matches in India as well, so it's clearly not a one-off case!
@Imrankniazi yes you are right.. it will peg him back and is the only blemish in his on-field career.. but to be fair in his early tours he was struggling with injury to his shoulders, and when he went there fully fit in 04, he bowled much much better.. even murali struggled against the best team of his generation, australia, when IN australia.. so i wouldnt hold warne back to much.. also tendulkar was the main one who tortured him.. and he is possibly the best of all time..lets keep thatin mind
@banu111 You can't say that. Even Murali struggled against India but you can't call him bad because of that. Warne and Murali were both great bowlers and we should be lucky to see their like again.

I just love how the slider drifts as well as goes straight, whereas the flipper just goes straight on. Very deceptive.

finally a shane warne video that 1ceylon or stj1003 hasn't made a spamming of.

the one bowled to vaughan had dipped and drifted with pace onto him, forcing him onto the back foot. Beautiful set-up

AnkurRC, Where did you get the footage with Michael Vaughn interview.
I have not seen this any where and just wondering if you can tell me what DVD it is from, so I can have a look at it.
It was just amazing watching Warne's dominance over England, keeping Australia in the series with our Batsmen letting us down.
Cricket is a lot less entertaining since he has gone.

It is from the Ashes 2005 DVD, I think, I'm not certain because I downloaded what I think was a soft copy from Google Video, way back.
Cheers.

Is there any way you could upload that video, or send it to me?
I am really interested in what it says.
