I played Darkfall back when the European version came out. One thing I noticed about Darkfall players: They like talking about WoW. A lot.

How do you name a bag?

@lillesuper IIRC, you click on the 'bag' name as shown below it's icon that is sitting in your bank or in your main backpack. Single click and after a second it will show a cursor on the 'bag' name so you can edit it. It doesn't pull up a separate window to enter it in to.

@jootai yep, because it is highly accessible, has incredibly forgiving gameplay (dying barely matters), funnels you toward the proper zone for your level, tells you pretty much everything you should do with little exclamation points.

That's fun for many, but it kills everything that I enjoy about MMOs. It's themepark versus sandbox, which is personal choice. Themeparks, particularly WoW, just feel like easy mode for me.

Yea the game is full of grind, but the pvp is based on clan verse clan, not player verse player. You can still be a low level and be helpful to your clan in a battle..

Your not supposed to grind, dont play to get stronger, play for fun and to help your clan, and let your stats increase on their own.

@Sinkatze More or less every player in darkfall should need that mage skills he bought in the beginning. They are a gr8 asset to a melee player too, as you can keep on fight for a longer amount of time with those spells leveled:)

The game has some grit to it -- a nice way of saying it lacks polish. The graphics resemble (or are) cel-shaded technology, for reference.

But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Games of the WoW variety have reduced MMOs to basically an "online RPG". Darkfall's idea, like Shadowbane's before it, is to keep the "massive" in MMORPG.

Just started playing myself and these vids are a great help, TOP game and a lot more enjoyable than the WoW carebear world.

The combat engine is great the game is stable and theres nothing like the rush of fight or flight.

It's not like WoW where a level 1 player will NEVER EVER even TOUCH a level 5 player.

@Vigatos Empty world? There's ruins and quest camps, and monster spawns, and hidden chests, and underwater caves, and roaming AI everywhere. Long travel times, no fucking shit, it's a big fucking world that's the point. The graphics are far better than most modern MMO graphics. And there are such things as MMOs that don't have music. In fact, most of the original MMOs, which people consider the best MMOs, had none.

TBH i found the grind in most other MMO's I've played(WoW, AoC, etc) to be a LOT worse. In Darkfall there is the rush in pvp and pve because of the risk, makes it less monotone imo.

Very excellent videos, these will be a gem for new players starting out the game and I will be giving links to these videos to help them get started. Please continue making these and I recommend as well to include information about the title quests and mounts. Also the starter areas you record in are pretty fortunate, most players experience several deaths to players within the first few hours of playing, recommend touching on that as well in the next vid.

you should really grab title quests for killing those kobolds/shamans.

1 thing I would've mentionned in the video and that I know NEW often recommands, is to stop by the Capital City as soon as possible to grab the Title Quests. It's a very easy way to make gold knowing that you will be killing Goblins/Kobold/Trolls for quite a while at first.

@gm4ulkill try it on a resolution above 1024 with shadows on and record with a screen capture software (FRAPS), the software will decrease the frames to whatever is set, most likely, set to 24fps to keep the quality decent and file size as low as possible.
