Hey ProMontage Editor I've used a little bit of everything over the years but this year I've become attached to Lew's reels. Great quality product at a resonable price.
Just purchased my first baitcaster and cant wait to get out this spring and try my hand at flipping and pitching. This is going to be my go to strategy this season. Nice luck on on filming there!
I use a variety of baits on the shakey head including chigger and zoom critter craws. A fluke and 3" swim bait also work well when the shad bit is on. Keep thinking outside the box - you are on the right track to tremendous success. Good luck.
question. i flip on my frog rod but am looking for a flippin and pitchin stick. i use between a 1/4 and 5/8 ounce lures. and 17-20 pound fluro. would a 7' 6" medium heavy rod work well for this? (the rod is a little bit stiffer than most MH rods)
Hey guys, you're doing a great critiquing session. Honestly this one was a total surprise...I knew I was doing the right things, but catching that fish on queue was priceless.
Ive seen 10 lb bass make the smallest strike.... the point here is to set the hook as if its a 10lber, because you never know what you have on the end of your line til it jumps or is close enough to see it. Dont listion to hurley.
Ya some people don't understand that they gotta drive that hook through that bass's mouth especially right when your bait hits the water you still got all that slack in your line. plus hes a pro so I wouldn't really question it to much.

YOU SEEM LIKE A VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE fisherman, but that way you act like your struggling, is just hamming it up for the camera. When I was 12 I could bring in a 5 pound largemouth easily, just fish, dont act.
His rod was at a bad angle for a good hookset. He really had to lean back on it, cause he probably wasn't anticipating a hit on the drop. Then he winched it in like a champ. Lean back like that and try to talk normally., you just can't do it.
I use between a 7-foot and 7'6" rod and I prefert o flip a Lunker Lure Body Loc Jig (finesse jig), or a soft plastic like a sweet beaver or a chigger craw. Good Luck!
Thanks for the comment, I got a laugh out of it. Glad you enjoyed it. It's very rare that it works out that way while filming....I'm just glad it did.
True angler, he was about to go back at it again and forgot to close off his speech. "Action speak louder than words." -old saying

@RyanCorsiatto The 7' 6' MH will work if it leans a lot toward the heavy side. Fluoro stretches you made need braid for this action.
