okay 1, Ewan is Scottish, and they're actors, they know how to change their voice/accents

I still dont understand how he turned his scottish accent into an american NY accent as if he's from brooklyn or something. Hugh Jackman too. there's no hint of Australian is Jackman in that film, and definately no hint of Scottish in Ewan. I am truly amazed by that. talkin about devoted practice. I'm working on my acting career myself but I dont think I can change my accent throughout the entire dialogue like that.

a lot of actors go to classes to work on their accents, they've both been in this game for a long time, just work at it, you should be able to get it

if you have a good ear, and a proper dialect coach anything can be done. i'm american as well and have acted for 13 years. it takes practice, but you can do any dialect you want for any amount of time.

Americans don't hear as many accents growing up, rendering it harder to replicate them.

We watch a lot of American TV, and certainly loooadsa US films.

American accents are more or less second nature to actors and actresses outwith the US, especially if they live there for a while before the part, like Ewan says he did.
