Those are just a few of my favorite instrumental guitarists that I can list off my head. Vai is outstanding, but you need to be educated with everything!

What blows me away about all of these virtuoso guys and gals is *not* the fact they have the technique and skill to play the notes.... but the fact they actually *wrote* such beautiful and wonderfully complex music in the first place.
