when your facing a collegiate wrestler or a jujitsu artist usually the slam is used at an angle to where even if your head is up youll be concussed to the point where you cant enter a guard. best defense there would of been to pull back his waist and come back with a knee but thats from a muy thai and boxing back ground. Even if he wanted to get a ground fight his defense should of initially started with pulling back his waist and forcing his opponent to lift his hands.
