The only problem I see in a practice like this is that SOME innocent people in that crowd, for lack of knowing better, might get some of their fundamental aqeedah messed up. All talk of innovation set aside. mA when you scholars of this caliber around, its always beneficial, regardless of your manhaj, to try and benefit from their knowledge iA. Sh. Faraz is a local imam in my community, and while we may not believe in some of these practices, that doesn't mean we should disrespect those who do.

This is a reprehensible innovation. The Prophet nor his Sahaabah, nor their students (Tabi'oon), nor the 4 Imaams ever permitted such an innovation!!
