@david87758 "Russia is the best in the Aerospace Industry"
Erm, yes, of course.
And why exactly would You think taht? Hopefully not because of Kalinin K7?
But, anyway, there still are enough guys, who think teh Soviets were best- just, as there are enough guys, thinking, that US are best. And they seemingly really believe that! :-O
@M1ABRAMS13 "was this every used?" It flew between August and November 1933. It crashed because of problems with vibrations. Nno more planes of this type were brought up into the air.
Not people... Horses whinnying with blinds on.. Google "firestorm dresden" if you need a example of the "accidental deaths" caused by the "allies" during WW2. There seems to be a lack of accurate knowledge circulating here.
@anthilation00dozey Yes, it was flown. Seven times before it crashed in 1933 killing 15 people. It was designed during the early '30s. Two of them were built between 1931 and 1933. It was the biggest non jet engine aircraft ever built. Funny thing is that the guy who built it, Kostyantyn Kalinin, a WWI veteran, was executed in 1938 under the accusation of being an "enemy of the state"...
This is actually a real aircraft I did some research and found some information at------ exploredia,com/the-craziest-aircarft-in-the-world/ ---------- you won't believe what this plane is capable of. Give thumbs up so people can see this info.
Just think on the useless that plane is, just imagine the amount of time and resources needed to build that monster, that's actually is totally unmanueverable, and slow, that plane would have been a giant turkey for 109 and 190, and i'm not taking in count the 262 with 4 30mm Mk108.
@ppunk4 I think when you look at it as a prototype, or an R&D tool, or a manufacturing/scientific challenge, it is not pointless at all. It's like that saying that the path is more important than the goal. If we follow your way of thinking, research is useless, Google Lab is useless, going into space is useless, and so on. But in 10 or 50 years, you'll look back and realize it was, indeed, for part of it, usefull. Cheers.
@nolifemerc And what, exactly, have all your poison-spitting comments to do with that K-7? Please tell me, I am hungry to learn something new about big historical planes.
@MrRammsteinKicksAss what the hell was so bad about chirchill. he was the only good politician in the world at that time. in fact he was the one who tried to warn britain about hitler invading europe , and he warned FDR about stalin too. i dont see anything wrong he did.
@speed150mph The Bombings of German cities and other non-militaric targets. Sure it was war and the Germans did the same. But they were judged for what they did. Churchill, Stalin and Truman (nukes on Japan) weren't
@MrRammsteinKicksAss yeah well if it wasnt for the a bombing of europe by bomber command and the eighth air force, we would all be speaking german and saying hail hitler in the morning. and they didnt target civillian targets, they targeted industrial tagets. accidents did happen due to navigation, weather ect. even today their are still accidental civiallian deaths, and we have lazer guided bombs.
@MrRammsteinKicksAss ..... you cannot impose today's politically correct view of war on those fighting for freedom in WWII. It was survive or die...nothing in between. Germany and Japan initiated the war (there is a good arguement WWII was nothing more than a continuation of WWI but I leave that for another time) and were bent on world domination by force. BTW, the nuke attacks on Japan actually saved hundreds of thounds to millions of lives on both sides. Read about Okinawa for starters.
@speed150mph Churchill treated Ireland like Hitler treated most of Europe, pretty much. Ask an Irishman if he thinks Churchill with his heroic Black and Tans were so great after massacring unarmed civilians.
@andrey1917red Many good things da, among these good things you counting those 20 million souls he took out of paranoia? Da tovarish Stalin many good things!
Boy,,, Them Russians love to make big planes, don't they. I'm shocked that the plane flew at all with landing grear that provided so much drag and 7 heavy engines with such little power to weight ratio. Such a thick airfoil would provide a lot of lift but a lot of drag too. Don't even want to think of fuel economy.... Bet it was very thirsty!!!
Everyone who says this bomber is fake should do more Modern History at school this Bomber was built to scare the shit out of anyone who tried to go against it but by production jet engines were implemented which stopped this project it was though a massive feat by Russian Aviation Engineers to even get it to fly which it did but not fast and ran out of fuel very fast.

It was all about propaganda.
@klesmer On what basis do you claim it's fake? It seems pretty well-documented. I've read about it in books, there are pictures, and clips. I admit it looks outrageous, but I've never seen any indication that it was all faked. Do you have any references?
@DandAinTac What books? I have been in aviation buff and history student for for over 60yrs and this abortion has never shown up anywhere but on You tube.
@klesmer The one that comes to mind right off is "The World's Worst Aircraft" by Bill Yenne. I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere though, and there are many Internet sources. There are also phony computer image versions with heavy gun turrets, extra engines, and possibly an enlargement of the aircraft, which could easily lead one to believe that the entire thing is fictional. The Russians have always been fond of building BIG.
@DandAinTac Yes, Ivan like's 'em big but this thing was labled a fake the first time it appeared on You Tube several years ago. And don't by anymeans believe everything you see or read on the 'net. Another fake is the stunt plane landing with one wing missing.
@klesmer Do you have a link? I've never seen anything to indicate that the Kalinin K-7 is fictional. Certainly there are fictional VERSIONS of it--models and computer images, with enhanced size, battleship gun turrets and such, but the plane itself seems to have been real. As far as not believing everything you see or hear on the web--that cuts both ways. Claims that something is fake should also be met with caution. What are your sources?
@DandAinTac Dude, if you want to believe this thing is real, knock youself out. I am sure that will make the Easter bunny and Toothfairy quit happy. If you are fortunate enough to be around avaiators or atend airshows I wouldn't bring this airplane up in any conversations.
@DandAinTac mDude, I stand corrected. After deciding to put my money where my mouth is I did some research. The Kalinin did exist, one was built. It was large but not as huge as some pictures on You Tube would have you believe. It crashed in a test fllight killing 14 people. Kalinin was executed as an enemy of the state in the late '30's. I guess I owe the Easter Bunny an appology. PS, It was pretty much kept a secret becouse it was an embarassment to Stalin.
@klesmer That's all exactly right. Thanks for "manning up" to it. You know, looking at some of the huge and outrageous hardware the Ivan has produced over the decades, I can't blame someone for skepticism in the age of Photoshop. The Mil-12 Homer, the Maxim Gorky, the Typhoon class sub, the Lun class Ekranoplane, the Antonov AN-225--all seem fantastic and implausible. One of the reasons I'm fascinated by Russian hardware.
@PupuTheClown It flew, but not well. I think it crashed killing the passengers. Engineering in the Soviet Union in the early 30s was just not advanced enough to produce successful aircraft of this size. Stalin had poor Kalinin shot as an "Enemy of the State" several years later.
Most fighters don't lock the G limits, they can typically pull higher for a brief period of time. Su-47 would've never came to be if Russians learned something from the American X-29, and that is that forward swept wings are not suitable with the current material technology we have,
Su-47 is a P.O.S., Russians should've learned the lesson from the Americans about building forward swept wings. Instead, they are just learning it now.
@cr9527 aircraft vs aircraft combat is more or less all about turning abilities, put a su-47 loaded with sidewinders and machine-guns up against a F-14 Tomcat with the same equipment, the f14 would crash and burn. without doubt. Americans should learn not to build aircrafts with variable wings.
@cr9527 variable wings are proven to have more cons then pros, they're to expensive, fucks up the airplanes aerodynamic structure and adds way to much weight to the aircraft. and if you have good turning abilities, you avoid danger much more effectively, and therefore get behind the enemy much easier, and ones you have an aircraft with high maneuverability behind an aircraft with worse maneuverability, the fight is won.
I wish Reagan was back to bring the US and Russia together again.. That was a good feeling in the 80's. Now it seems like we are right back were we started.. I hate the Russian Gov but so what. I hate the US gov too.. The people of the US and Russia are alot alike and would get along just fine together if our damn Governments would get the fuck out of the way...

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we like to design and to build big aeroplanes?
(3) Why do we want to ride on big aeroplanes?
(4) With a big aeroplane, what facility do we want to have onbroad?
(5) Why do Russian always want to make something big?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for you creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

PupuTheClown 1 year ago
@PupuTheClown It flew, but not well. I think it crashed killing the passengers. Engineering in the Soviet Union in the early 30s was just not advanced enough to produce successful aircraft of this size. Stalin had poor Kalinin shot as an "Enemy of the State" several years later.

I have to say that despite URSS was a regime the russian engineers seem to be very free to design nearly whatever they have in mind though.

Most fighters don't lock the G limits, they can typically pull higher for a brief period of time. Su-47 would've never came to be if Russians learned something from the American X-29, and that is that forward swept wings are not suitable with the current material technology we have,

archhangell 1 year ago
@cr9527 actually, russians are very good at building airplanes. world class. for instance, they built one of the most mobile planes ever, the SU-47.
Jepserjeppe 1 year ago
@Jepserjeppe
Su-47 is a P.O.S., Russians should've learned the lesson from the Americans about building forward swept wings. Instead, they are just learning it now.
cr9527 1 year ago
@cr9527 aircraft vs aircraft combat is more or less all about turning abilities, put a su-47 loaded with sidewinders and machine-guns up against a F-14 Tomcat with the same equipment, the f14 would crash and burn. without doubt. Americans should learn not to build aircrafts with variable wings.
Jepserjeppe 1 year ago
@Jepserjeppe
1. Aircraft vs aircraft today is more about sensors and avionics than maneuverability
2. Variable wings are a design several times better than forward swept wings. Russians just learned this after they ignored the American x-29
cr9527 1 year ago
@cr9527 variable wings are proven to have more cons then pros, they're to expensive, fucks up the airplanes aerodynamic structure and adds way to much weight to the aircraft. and if you have good turning abilities, you avoid danger much more effectively, and therefore get behind the enemy much easier, and ones you have an aircraft with high maneuverability behind an aircraft with worse maneuverability, the fight is won.
Jepserjeppe 1 year ago
@Jepserjeppe
Variable Wings allows for a far better flight envelope, where it would perform better at all flight regimes at the cost of expense, and weight.
Forward swept wings sacrifices a part of the flight envelope for another, causes great airframe fatigue, and eventually failure.
In a modern dogfight, agility is a non issue 90% of the time, where the fight is over before the pilots see each other.
