There's no need to duplicate 4 times the layers, that is a waste of time. This could be done with only 3 layers (girl running fast with masking tool and directional blur, girl walking before running and background).

Well, I'll tell ya that they do that with Maya, if anything, alongside other animation software...not Avid.

Although Avid may be more powerful than AE, it's still nothing special. Anything can cut a movie....

But it's the user that makes it what it is.

AE is really neat. But DO NOT waste your money if you don't have enough memory. My computer has 3GB of RAM and it still lags.....Is there anything I can do besides adding more RAM? Would a Video Card help?

3 gig of ram isnt very much, its only slightly above the 2gig average, there are mac's with 32 gig, id get 4gig if you want to use after effects, or if you have space, 2 4gig chips

and yeah a better vid card would probably help

If you run Vista, your computer will only be able to effectively use 3.5 GB of ram anyway. I'f probably recommend updating your Graphics card, and also consider using a memory stick as ReadyBoost.

Nah, if u don't have the money to spend on AE, use torrentz, read the comments (whether the users found any viruses or not), follow the steps to install the cracked AE and ur done.

The reason there is no noise is cause when you go to the rendering screen at says sound at the bottom click the check mark, and when your background dissapears you might have to bring it in by the x y or z axis

yeah i know the problem i'm guessing you are using a .avi format for the video's i fixed this problem by using windows movie maker to change the format of the video to wmv

you can also (1.) duplicate the layer  once, (2.) mask the boy out of one layer, and (3.) just use time remapping on this layer to make the girl run faster (add motion blur to the layer with the girl)
