Hey MotownMaster, do you know of any pictures known to exsist from the short period in time with Marvin Gaye (w/Moonglows)on drums in 58-59? Or even Marvin Gaye and the Moonglows at all?
@fremontirvingtonlow1 well Harvey left the other 4 original Moonglows in 1958 and took Marvins group The Marquees ( i think thats what their name was) and just made them his New Moonglows, so Marvin never sang with Bobby Lester, Pete Graves, Alex Walton and Billy Johnson, just Harvey but there is 1 or 2 photos of the Moonglows with Marvin, Chuck Barksdale of the Dells was a Moonglow at this time too, and a guy names Rees Palmer
Thanks MM, I have missed hearing this one, a few decades back, the song was redone by Billy Vera a respectful verson, but not Etta & Harvey. Theirs was a soap opera relationship, Harvey married one of Berry Gordy's sisters (damn how many sisters did he hav??) and Etta had to record "All I Could Do Was Cry," damn that was cold. Love that Etta though, can't keep a good woman OR singer down. She's headlining in NYC on April 14, 15 & 16. Ha!
Wow! This was on an olides album we had aorund the house (Georgie Woods presents...?) Our album was scratched, so this is the first time I am hearing it without having to give the needle a little tap! LOL
Another rare find. There was another non-Motown single called "Ten Commandments Of Love" by Harvey & the Moonglows", it was a classic with Harvey Fuqua singing lead vocal. Great voice. I hope they should dig another another non or post-Motown singles. The Spinners on the Atlantic label back in the early 70's, that might be post-Motown as well.
this is a bullet man,,, thanks, i like this song

Great sound. Harvey and Etta harmonized on this record superbly. Listen to words. Thank you for posting this record. I love it.

But they (Harvey and Etta) were an item for a while before Harvey brought Marvin to Detroit and consequently to Hitsville U.S.A.

The A-side of this record "If I Can't Have You" was a top ten R&B hit in August 1960.
