  • i enjoyed this video but that was no kodachi. a kodachi is smaller with a one handed tsuka. what u were using is a hollywood style ninjato. decent cutting but bad titleing

  • Is a kodachi a smaller katana?

  • dude you're illiterate in what you're holding!

  • A kodachi (小太刀 or こだち?), literally translating into "small or short tachi (sword)", is a Japanese sword that is too short to be considered a long sword but too long to be a dagger. Since this sword was only about 59 cm in length, it did not exceed the blade length limits of non-samurai during the Edo period and could be worn by merchants.

The prefix 小 "ko-" literally means "small", though in context means "short".

  • What were those targets made out of? Just random grasses picked up and tied together?

  • Very nice cuts! Looks like fun.

  • a kodachi isn't a katana...they're similar but they aren't the same.

  • Thank you for your comment yet a Kodach is a Katana, Katana is a sword, and a Kodachi is a sword, The kanji for it translates to blade.

  • Kodachi is neither a sword nor a dagger. It is concidered somewhat between because of its lengths and blade shape. Yeah we can call them both "swords" but they ARE different. For Japanese katana - is a sword, for the rest of the world Katana referes to a certain TYPE of a sword. We have to concider this. ^_^

  • @Ninedirections no its not.. a kodachi is smaller than a katana .. the word Ko means small

  • Intense as ever, you must really be angry at the bamboo...

  • awesome sword work! what is the music you are playing in this video?

  • Thanks, and the music is Koto Drums
