I didn't understand this movie. Can anyone explain to me why she was at that drug clinic (With the tube down her throat) I swear I'm either to stupid to pick up on it or they simply never explained it.. On another note, I don't think this movie is called "Sleeping Beauty' in connection with the fairytale. I think it's Sleeping Beauty because that's exactly what she is. A sleeping Beauty. All in all. What was this movie ? I AM SO CONFUSED and not sure if I enjoyed or wasted an hour of my life..

Actually in the original story, the young woman is put to sleep because of a prophesy, rather than a curse. And it isn’t the kiss of a prince which wakes her up: the king seeing her asleep, and rather fancying having a bit, rapes her. After nine months she gives birth to two children (while she is still asleep). One of the children sucks her finger which removes the piece of flax which was keeping her asleep. She wakes up to find herself raped and the mother of two kids.

I find it both astonishing and disturbing how people these days rate a film "empty" and bad, rave about it being about "nothing" and "boring" when clearly the film only lacks DIRECT explanations and exposition. I saw somebody liken the film to Somewhere, and I can absolutely agree, as both make profound points about human nature (and no, I don't want to go and spoil what the film is actually about) without ever addressing them directly. So yes --the film is about something.

the movie hasn't the best trama ever I admit, yet, the lack of dialogue creates an echanting atmosphere. It has sweet pastel tones that make everything 'softer', and i personally did liked it. And FYI the original Spleeping Beauty isn't all that sweet: the girl falls asleep under a spell, a king (who's married) findes her, rapes her several times, and leaves her. She awakes 9 months later when she's given birth to twins and one of them sucks the potion from her. And it goes on and on, google it.

@asrt143 Sleeping beauty was originally a fable. It came about when the supernatural still influenced people heavily in everyday life and was most likely a deterrent of some sort, for adults and children, and was meant to be terrifying. I can't give you its origins, but I can tell you it was not meant to comfort children. The happy endings are a recent addition to the fairy tales you might be referencing.

Untill the prince was having sex with her and she was forced to have his kids, she was also married to him. Alot of the Grimm stories had Rape and incest but Disney changed them alot to make them family friendly..in the movie she was awoken by a kiss not sex. Just so you know,
