Remember buying this from Woolworths on single, I was 12/13 wearing a YSL shirt, some pin strips and a pair of kickers .... bleached blond curtains and a gold hoop in ear ear!!!! ............ gotta love the 90's ! LMAO
Oh wow! This is such a great track. The production, the sampling, it's brilliant. It's one of the best UK top 10 hits. I wish there was a better quality video of it though as it's one of the most quintessential videos of the 90s. Otherwise, thanks for sharing.
i've got the single in the cupboard, somewhere. one of the other tracks he did was another copy of the "loaded" speech from the wild angels. it's almost a dance mix of the primal scream version :P
i was a niteclub manager in the late 90s used this song to open every night for four years has been in my head ever since but was unable to recall the title or artist. finally found it
Would you believe this is the only copy of this clip on YouTube? Bizarre, becuase this is an iconic track, the central riff is still used *to this day* in sports montages and advertising. And yet it almost seems like it's been forgotten.
And yeah, the sneezing in the middle *is* annoying but I'd rather have this than nothing (which is what there'd be without this). So thanks for putting it up.
My older brother had the single to this song. One of the versions had voice clips from Star Trek the next generation "Only tinman speaks to me now". I just watched that episode on tv and thought of this song.
Thanks for putting this up; did you know this is now the only copy of the original video clip on YouTube? This is one of the best songs of the 90's and it took me ages to find it(who'd have figured it'd be called 18 strings?) and then when I did some bastard pulled it. Thanks for giving this clip another chance.
I loved this song and looked for it for years! I remember thinking one of the girls in the video dancing in the spining shot was so hot I wanted to pack up move to the U.K. and marry her!
Thanks for posting this is a very difficult album to find particulary in the U.S.. It can be found on an Album called the United Nations of House and if you are very lucky you might be able to find the single.
OMG!! I remember this from when i was about 13 and my big cousin and i were taken on a random day trip and we were so bored...He was about 26 and had to hang about with me haha
Been looking for this for ages but couldn't find it because I couldn't think who did it, was too out of it back in the days when this was out! Love it just as much now I am straight!
The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders used this as their main dance field and show routine song for several years up until last fall. Their main theme song is now "Loud" by Big and Rich. There is much footage of them dancing to Eighteen Strings. Their kickline to this song is fun to watch>
My dad has this song and it is quite a good song, I suppose. But I'm not the type for wild party songs. After a while they give me a headache! Still, great!
Brilliant song, absolute italo house classic. I believe they originally sampled Nirvana but weren't allowed to use it therefore they reproduced the guitar riff for CD single release. Thanks for sharing, regards from Australia.
I'm pretty certain it was called Gimme 5 which was a kids TV show on Saturday mornings on ITV in the early 1990s. I assume they played it because it was in the Top 10 at the time. Agreed Tinman is a brilliant track.

The track is by a legendary DJ/ producer called Paul Dakeyene.
If you go to his website, there's the full story behind the single and a full length original copy to listen to.
As well as loads of other great toons.
