  • I like this fragrance, but it has become too much wore in my opinion. And then on my skin it smells like a solid glue commercialized in Italy called "Coccoina" who smells like artificial almonds :S

  • @taralloalfinocchio It's just the kiss of death for a perfume if you can smell a link between it and an unglamorous commercial product.

  • Hypnotic Poison is one of my favorite perfumes! On me the vanilla and almond notes are strong, and hours later it reminds me of brownies (because of the warm vanilla scent). Yum!

  • Mmmh, I'm tempted... All the best for 2012, Katie ! It's always a pleasure to see a new video of KP smells ! ;)

  • @AnnaKarenineFTW All best for your 2012, too!

  • ALL i can say is you make me laugh so much... I love how you tell us how it smells and it makes me happy!

  • @itsBIJOUXbitch yay!

  • THAT. IS. THE. BEST. PERFUME. EVER!

  • Katie darling, you simply MUST try Ciara, it's a CHEAP-O and yet STILL a classic, if you have NOT reviewed it I ask you to try it PLEASE....It's FAB !!!!

  • Its so different..Don't you think there's a spicy peppermint within..when I initially sampled it that's what captured my attention. Thank you..good vid:)

  • @EmeraldAire I think my version of "spicy peppermint" is what I smell as almost toothpastey root beer. I think we're talking about the same thing.

  • @EmeraldAire I agree. When i wear this, I mostly smell vanilla peppermint. It smells delicious.

  • HI KATIE! I'M ABOUT TO BUY IT ON LINE TOO! WOULD YOU SAY ITS A DELICIOUS, AVERAGE OR AN ORDINARY SCENT?.... I'D LOVE TO KNOW WHAT DO YOU REALLY THINK! THANKS! XOXO.

  • @chacharas81 It is absolutely delicious and waaaaay above average. Very special.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells YOU WERE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! ITS DELICIOUS AND SPECIAL! THANKS A LOT! XOXO

  • Hi Katie! I'm a 20 year old guy, I was wondering if I could get away with wearing Hypnotic Poison? I really love it on women and I know a lot of guys wear Alien which I think is quite similar. What are your thoughts?

  • @xyltk I do know of many guys who wear HP, and just as you say, it shares a kinship with Alien, another popular crossover fragrance. Go for it!

  • @paleblackbird 15 years and going strong! That is incredible loyalty.

  • When I sprayed it on my wrist I thought it turned to marzipan. But I quite liked it.

  • @Westwoodboy1 It's fascinating.

  • This review was so annoying ! I think it smells pretty good every1 is entitled to their oppinion but the whole paste thing was just plain stupid ackward video

  • I love this scent, not tried it for a while, I'm saving up to buy the Dior Poison Mini Collection- and decide which is my favourite :P

  • I love this scent!!!!!!! it smells warm, intimate and sexy, but still soft. like you can only smell it if you get close enough.

also, i was wondering.... whats the name of the song at the end of you videos?

  • @tintannabulation Song details are in the description box...

  • I just bought a bottle; it's one of those fragrances I go back and forth with. Sometimes all I can smell is a musty, dusty, heavy sweetness that is unappealing and other times it is the best, most addictive vanilla EVER. For me, one secret to it is applying only the TINIEST amount.

  • @robinrs92 Certain perfumes do benefit from TINY applications, like Angel and Aromatics Elixir.

  • one of my friends hated me when I used to wear this perfume, he really did smell poison from this one. But I was so happy and enjoyed it so much from the very beginning, from the first spritz all the way.

  • Katie, what do you think about Dior Homme?

  • @arthurlloyd7 Love it.

  • It smells like dr pepper to me.. i freaking LOVE it! where can i get it for less than 50!?

  • @ClythiaMysticka You'll find it on my Fume Finder app for $50. Go to fumefinder d o t com

  • You're so funny heeeheeheee

  • @dagothur121 Ohhhh, that dreamy look is a great result!

  • You should do a review of the original Poison. It's THE 80s perfume. It defines the glorious 80s. Pretty please! ;9

  • @Pfalzgreven You make a good case for it.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells That's 'cause I love her to death. And for a frags which was the top seller in the last part of the 80s, she doesn't have quite enough reviews here on YT. I believe there are only some three reviews as of now. She deserves so many more. ;)

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Yes that would be great. The ultimate eightees queen.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells please...

  • You should definitely review pure poison or midnight poison. I'd love to hear your opinion.

  • Don't know how I missed this vid, but glad I found it! Love love love this scent. I get sassafrass, vanilla, cinnamon, honey, and of course the jasmin and woods. I feel like it smells like a cross between a root beer float and Grandma's spice cake. Yum. YUM.

This is my favorite oriental fragrance at the moment, passing up Caesars Woman from Caesars Palace (a bit obscure).

  • @eezepeeze Since you love HP, I wonder if you'll like the new Agent Provocateur that I'm crazy about: L'Agent. It hits some of the same pleasure spots as HP, but with added leather.

  • I'm addicted to this one. It's my favorite oriental vanilla.

I also love midnight poison. It's so sexy.

  • Your so cool! LUV your reviews! :)

  • Katie have you tried Pure Poison? What do you think about it?

  • @arthurlloyd7 Haven't tried it yet.

  • Katie if you ever get a chance can you review Midnight Poison? I am very curious about that frag.. I was wondering your thoughts on it

  • @MsKrissycat I just tried it yesterday, as a matter of fact. It was in the middle of trying every single other Dior perfume (I was at a Dior boutique), so I don't have a great deal to say other than it didn't really stand out. It's a tepid oriental that doesn't have the great personality of Poison and Hypnotic Poison.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Thanks for your quick response! I got a really good deal online so I did order it but hopefully if I don't like it so much I can give to my fiance. I read some reviews where it says it would work well on a man.. so we'll see. He just might be getting a present from me for no reason :)

  • I work for Dior Beaute and have found that people tend to have a love/ hate relationship with this scent... I absolutely love it and can't get enough. On me it smells like vanilla root beer floats and I want to drink myself up after putting it on... Is that weird? Great review Katie!

  • @MissSkeletor I certainly fluctuate between "what the heck is this?" and "mmmm!" with HP.

  • Can you review Polo Sport woman and Le Secret Anges ou demons by Givenchy?

  • This is my signature! Men love this !

  • I really really was hoping to love HP! All 3 of the times I've sampled it though it tend to have a slight ammonia scent to it on me....okay to be blunt it smells of cat pee! I can't smell the cat pee note when sniffing from 6" away just up close. The Husband and my 2 sniffer sons all liked HP on me and said they didn't smell cat pee, even close up...but I do and it ruined an otherwise nice scent. :0(

  • @charlottesmom Yep, once you latch onto a disagreeable note in a perfume, there's no getting around it.

  • I think you don't "get it " because you live in La La Land.

Who wants to be dipped in almondine and dusted in icing sugar in that heat . By the dry stone walls on the Pennines on a sunny March day in the daffodils it can be "got "

  • @MistressPolly Soooo true! Climate/temperature makes all the difference in the appeal of a perfume.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells ...and the appeal of food too!!. I can't wait for sticky pudding and custard season again.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells ...and the appeal of food too!!. I can't wait for sticky pudding and custard season again. I have some Tendre Poison gathering dust that I must check out now that Spring has sprung you have reminded me .

  • do you like the midnight poison? i love that one of all the "collection" though they don't have any similarities with their scent in my opinion.

  • @aricha Can you believe, I've not tried Midnight Poison yet. There are just so many gosh-darned perfumes out there!

  • @aricha I agree with you I love it too, I bought HYPNOTIC POISON yesterday but ,now I realized MIDNIGHT POISON is THE BEST ONE that I've ever tried... you could never find any scent like this,

  • which one of those are sexy ?

    - Hypnotic Poison

    - Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle

    - L`Elixir Hypnotic Poison

  • @A7laQ6ri I've not smelled the Eau Sensuelle, but both the other 2 are, especially L'Elixir.

  • Hypnotic Poison seems like a mature and sexy version of Pink Sugar. So if you're an adult and you like vanilla go with HP and avoid PS!

  • This one has been making it's way onto my radar in the past day or two. At first I kept ignoring it because I have this preconceived notion that Poison is gross. Then I realized, I've never smelled it. Off to smell some stuff tomorrow!

  • @sparkybish Increasingly, perfumes are being marketed as flankers under the same basic name when they often bear no family resemblance to each other.

  • Katie your comments are so funny and our noses have a lot in common ;) I find HP a delicious almond and vanilla cake but ...who wants to smell like a cake?...

  • @pekenitta In the last year or so, I've discovered a gorgeous Dior scent called Bois d'Argent (by Annick Menardo, the same perfumer who created HP), and it smells like HP without the desserty aspect. I love it. I should review it soon...

  • Incredible juice... smells like heaven !

This CAN be worn by a man... but you should hide your bottle if you buy it and DO NOT say that you are wearing HP because people know it is for girls and will laugh at you... They have a wrong mentality that if it says that a scent is for women then men can't wear it... that's really stupid ! You CAN fool people that this is for men easily through... so why not use it guys ? You should check this out because you don't know that you are loosing.

  • @Victor15091995 Excellent advice!

  • I love it when my wife wears it.....

  • This is my favorite perfume of all. And it last all day. And its the sweetest i ever smelled of all

  • it smells like.....rootbeer....lol

  • Its like 'fresh air will reform his ways'...not.

  • I personally prefer the original Poison. It doesn't quite have that same "pasty" quality, as you so aptly put it, and I love it from the first spritz to the final dry down. Too bad it costs a kidney. :/

  • @kragey Yes, but will a kidney garner compliments at a crowded party?

  • uh!

when i wear it, i feel more confident and secure -

as if a veil of scent protected me from every outer influence.

it is very thick, but that's not bad! it almost feels like home...

never before had an odour such intensive and various effects on my soul, i think.

  • @Blickkontakt Sounds like HP is a true comfort fragrance for you.

  • i would have to agree with you about not 'getting it' until it has been on me for a while. when i first put it on, it is very overpowering and smells like licorice. however for some reason when it sets more, something about it draws me in. i think the end results is vavavom sexy and i don't have anything like that so i almost got it, but went a different route instead and got ysl parisienne which i love and feel i can get more use out of. thanks for the review!

  • @becksoli88 It's true that certain perfumes aren't as "all purpose" as others. HP can be very mood or occasion-specific.

  • Is it possible for a guy to pull off the original Poison?I love it, but im not sure about wearing it.

  • Hypnotic Poison is my SIGNATURE smell. It REALLY suits me. I have never gotten so many good comments about the perfume I was wearing and it does seem to hypnotize people around me, especially men :P

  • @drummahaerogirl Excellent result!

  • This is my grandmother's favorite perfume Haha, but it smells great! Although I prefer Miss Dior Cherie :) Love your review for both of these perfumes!

  • @IStriveForPerfection So glad! Thanks.

  • @MrPerfumeaddict I do need to get around to review more of those classic 80s blockbusters. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells Please do! I'm considering getting the original Poison because I've heard fabulous things about it and would LOVE to see your review before I do!

  • i like Christian Dior Pure Poison

  • Like another person said, I think this is best in the winter months - it's thicker, smokey -- like roasting vanilla beans and tonka beans over a wood fire (not that I've done that - just imagining that combination/scent). I usually prefer much lighter scents, but I wear Hypnotic when I'm feeling very confident, or *need* to feel confident. After a short time, Hypnotic fades to a nice sweetness.

  • @tnskonz I like how a certain fragrance can give you the boost you need.

  • I remember buying this to my mom when I was 13. She didnt like it much cause it was too sweet for her ;-(

  • @Vokio Drat! There you were trying to give her this amazing treat.

  • i start liking it

    base nots are good

  • @AMDs44 I agree.

  • Its one of my favorites for winter because its so heavy. My favorite summer perfumes are Nina by Nina Ricci and Vera Wang Princess. Love your channel! :)

  • @jeanams23 HP practically keeps you warm in the cold weather!

    So glad you're watching.

  • hehehehe you are soooo funny

    paper mache

  • it'smy favorite perfume of all times!

  • @chadeveretttt Heh!

  • "when the jasmine makes a break for it" haha! You're so clever ;P

  • @cformosa4 Thank you kindly, Cubby!

  • i think ur strange

  • This is what I get from Hypnotic Posion I am a child of original Posion I adore the big sister fragrance so it was hard for me to like this one. But, I got this plastic note then a vanilla candle LOL But, after that it dried down to a nice sort of smokey vanilla it wasn't bad.I read that this favorite fragrance of strippers its their reel them in fragrance.

  • it really takes offff heavy, and then settles down. a favorite for WInter use.

  • @chelseaguy52 Yes, you've got to stick out the opening...uh...assault.

  • I haven't tried this yet but I get recommended it all the time based on the fact that I love Dior Addict. Do you think they're similar?

  • @BellamyBlue Dior Addict is thick, bitter and sweet, heavy on the vanilla and cream. Perhaps the "weight" of it is similar to Hypnotic Poison, but it's a bit of a busy clump of a smell, where HP swings.

  • I absolutely LOVE Hypnotic Poison. I sprayed a little on my wrists in Sephora. At first I didn't like it because it smelled like black licorice. But after a moment the smell went away and it turned into a nice warm musky vanilla on my skin. It by passes the jasmine, much to my relief because I really don't like the smell of jasmine. The smell is long lasting and I love it. I would recomend trying it out at your local Sephora before buying, that way you don't have to comit. But I really love it.

  • @silvermagic222 Glad Hyp Poison played nice with you. And the good thing about Sephora is that they'll make up a sample of any perfume so that you can take it home a try before you buy.

  • I love Hypnotic poison, it's my winter perfume from the day it was first sold, I'm at my fifth bottle or so? Smells like dessert wine and a super lushious almond-vanilla cake. Everytime I use it, it's like being in silk lingerie with a fur coat; I love it!

  • @verdestella Yummy/sexy description!

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells oh... thank you for the transcription, I'm italian and I didn't know so many words, in this way I can read and understand all!

Oh, I've found out that all my favourite perfumes are oriental, with a vanilla splash^^

  • @verdestella I'm glad the transcription is helpful!

  • p.s. it works really well layered with hanae mori as well.

  • @bolod10 Okay, that is just a bridge too far. And I'm not crossing it with you!

  • I used to avoid wearing it in the summer because of the same claustrophobic' feeling that you described. Not so much anymore. I got a whiff of it in my dirty winter sweaters and decided to give it another go and I've never gotten so many compliments. I suspect its one of those fragrances that works magically with my own scent, pbr, smoke and sweat. Anyway, no more designating it to fall/winter. I think this might just have made the cut to one of my three signature fragrances.

  • @bolod10 Hah! Imagine the new HP promo: "The scent that gets you noticed: Pabst Blue Ribbon, sweat, and Hypnotic Poison."

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells hahah. I know. It could be worse: eau de crust punk/ gutterbilly freight rider. lol.

  • @bolod10 Har!

  • I just swapped for a mini bottle, we'll see how I like it! So far I've only smelt this in store& liked it ever since then.

So I've been interested in perfume since I was 12. Stangely I also always found those rich orientals very appealing.. but needless to say I knew I couldn't _wear_ them ever back then -> I didn't.

Like 7yrs later now, I muse if it's not unsuitable anymore. Please, what do you think, can really young women wear this more or less?

  • @flexiplnt You're officially womanly enough to carry off HP. Congrats! (Age 12 would be a different story...)

  • I used to adore it. Now, I can barely stand to smell it. The bottle is quite unique though. Peace,~Moonchime☮

  • Can you do a review on elezibeth Arden red door revealed and sjp NYC please I've heard good reviews about but I'm not sure ?

  • ooh i want it soooo bad! but i am now newly inlove with lola! marc jacobs i beleive..the bottle is hot! the smell is sweet and sexy and girly! oooh katie how ive missed ur vids..can u do one on lola!

  • thanks sunnybrett . i'd definitly try it and let you know about the effect .

my mom wear it all the time and that's probably why i love it so much

  • yea, i'll pass on this one

  • do you think that a man can wear this stuff ? coz i think i'm in love with this

  • @242razor Hi again - I hear all the time from guys who love wearing HP. It's more "elaborate" than the typical guy cologne, but it's not so frilly-dilly flowery or too edibly sweet that a man couldn't carry it off. The fact that it's quite an unusual fragrance makes it hard to place as "masculine" or "feminine". So go for it!

  • @242razor Hi :-)

I wear it, and when I dostrange things happen to mepeople especially women are so sweet to me, and guys hug me a lot, so if you need an extra hug, try it onand let me know what happen...

    Brett :-)

  • midnight poison is the best!

  • @Jewelrycreator Kitten in a bottle - love that.

  • Sorry Katie, Hypnotic Poison is sooo, like you said, suffocating I would not dare to try it on my skin. I do go to the shop again and again, spray it on paper, got a little sniff and threw it right away (the paper not the tester).

I prefer Pure Poison, the bottle is sooo yummy.

  • @Bluesky1812 HP is a challenge, to be sure. But it wasn't until I was brave enough to try it on my skin that I began to see the charm.

  • To me this smells like wedding cake. Vanilla and almonds....... and rat pee.

  • @Evange The health dept need to investigate that wedding cake bakery.

  • I love hypnotic poison. It smells like the holidays, sitting by a crackling fire in a big soft cashmere sweater..while x-mas pies are baking in the kitchen.

  • @tilena211 A very cozy picture you paint - especially if someone else is doing the baking!

  • Wait! Did you hear a womans voice comming out of that paper mache plum/almond/coconut tart? That was weird!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAhahahahahaha ... hilarious.

Hypnotic Poison is my signature scent - even though I'm a man!

  • @Pfalzgreven Good on ya!

  • I love it! it is very thick you're right, but I smell vanilla and star anise seed in the middle note and sweet scents really tickle my fancy! kind of black licorice-ey?

  • @LittleMrsMiddleton Yes! Anise-y for sure. Lots of people pick up on that but identify it as "root beer".

  • Geesh, the way you say the word "weird" was ringing in my head all day. Too funny!

  • @Kerosenetrewthe I do apologize.

  • Hypnotic poison is straight up Vanilla! It's my all-time favorite winter scent i can't live with out it and it's the one fragrance that has gotten me more compliments than anything else i own!

  • @natesmom2244 I love it when you can count on a perfume to deliver like that!

  • you know when people associate fragrances with abstract things like love, freedom or sunshine, water etc. I find that HP is the definition of "warm". As soon as I sniffed it from a sample, there was a weird, comforting feeling that seemed to hug me, I felt like I was sitting in front of a fire with a warm blanket. Anyway, I saw your review and read others as well, and I finally got a bottle of my own. As weird as it sounds, I spray it before I go to sleep, I find it to be soothing and calming.

  • @LittleSeta It's just amazing how soothing a smell can be.

  • Did you present on the Word on Channel 4 in the nineties? My favourite perfume is Tiempe Passate by Antonias Flowers

  • @bosschickita Yes I did.

Tiempe Passate is a cult fave for lovers of musky rose.

  • my mom s all times favorite, she wears this all seasons and she smells amazing...

this stuff is for sophisticated women , feel like a boss

  • @242razor Yeah, Boss Lady! Wear HP and be in charge!

  • @janiekendle Cool! That's a great one. It's sweet, but the hint of licorice gives it the "mystery" and takes it off the beaten track.

  • its supposed to feel like the name says, a hypnotic trance and the idea that you feel "claustrophobic" is the poison idea of it. Anyway, it made me feel like the name described the overall fragrance so well its now my favorite. But I only wear it during the winter/ end of fall.

  • @awhell666 HP needs coldness around it to frame the fragrance. It'd be too crazy in the heat!

  • Bought it for my lady for christmas.... We love it.. So what else can I get her?

  • @Chopper894 Try the original Bulgari Omnia (brown bottle). It has a bit of that woody/almond sensuality.

  • I really like hypnotic poison. It just smells like wedding cake.

  • I'm a much bigger fan of the pure poison , but to me hp is way to EPPP! For middle school.

  • @BeautyByHannah I need to check out those other poisons.

  • @Biomeccuh I just put some HP on to answer your question, and I think a guy could wear this, as it falls into the "weird inedible gourmands" category that aren't very girly at all. I'm thinking also of Lolita Lempicka and Dior Bois dArgent (both Annick Mernardo creations), as well as Maurice Roucel's Fleur de Corail for Lolita Lempicka.

For another dark, sweet jasmine (but not as weird as HP), you should also check out Bulgari Jasmin Noir edp.

  • Hi Katie! I love your videos! I was wondering if you could review Leslie Blodgett's Perfume Diaries fragrances. Thanks.

  • I just got hold of a sample after your review to give it a try.

I heartily agree with you on the "tasty paste" smell at first. I for one loved it very much (I'm one of those who love the smell of random everyday objects like ink and plastic), but otherwise it smells wonderful: warm, sweet and very very very comforting. I did get to the jasmine, but it was subtle, which is good cos I'm not a floral junkie. Other than than I really enjoyed it and I plan on getting a bottle.

  • @mjcrobinson Sounds like your wife carries HP off really well. Too bad she doesn't want to wear it as much as you want to smell it!

  • @janiekendle I like mystery in my smells, too. If you like Midnight Fantasy, you might be intrigued by Lolita Lempicka L, too.

  • Slugs rule.

  • Hypnotic Posion is one of those perfumes that if sprayed too heavily can be really sickening, obnoxious and provocative. To me it screams "sexy lady wannabe" but it is not subtle enough. It lacks elegance. And every female aged 15 - 30 wears it in France. Too common, too recognizable (like Angel by Thierry Mugler) and too... slutty. To me HP has the same effect as extreme cleavage, stilletos, a mini skirt and fake tanning all at once : this perfume is a pretty clear message. Just my opinion...

  • @topsyturviness Always interesting to get a different take on a perfume. Also I love hearing what's popular in other countries.

  • @topsyturviness Sounds perfect to me!...lol

  • i think you are right about this fragrance but i think midnight poison is better

  • cool as usual. really like your videos!
