@mamobster1500 No more than $10 000 per year for undergrad, as far as I've heard. I paid less than $8000 this year and last year I paid less than $6000 (different schools).
@pstlwhppd May be true but students who are mislead go to grad school since misleading informtation was sent around that in order for to land a good job you need a Masters because an undergrad degree is not enough. This happens to be false, but it was a con that cinfused students took, and grad schools are well over $15,000 per year.College is a SCAM.You would think Republicans would have sense to know that americans debt are a leading cause to the US facing a recession but they don't.

This is what I don't get. So the economy is down, people can't find jobs and money is a problem. What is the solution? Work THREE jobs. Something doesn't add up.
Paul Ryan is a nigger! His district has the highest unemployment rate in Wisconsin, one of the highest in the country. Way to go meat head! You'll get that lobbying job for sure!
Im against giving normal kids college money. Sending stupid people to get educated is a very, very, very dangerous thing and I dont think a lot of people realize that.
Paul Ryan is a PIECE OF SHIT that sat in American classrooms with OSAMA BIN LADEN. When enough people find out the truth about PAUL RYAN, a rowdy mob is going to CORNER HIM IN HIS DRIVEWAY and chop off his fucking skull.
@mootant Did you go to college? My guess is no. I'm an accountant and you have no idea what you're talking about. The truth is a college education is pointless, and has been for a little over 10yrs thanks to republicans destroying public education. there are limited skill building courses for High School students and now everyone wants to focus on test. Well thanks to bush, in order for states to receive funds for public education they most present excellent test results.
@Bossblack13 Yes, I did and I didn't go to college to USA. :) I went to uni in country where normal type of studies is totally free. It's getting more and more pointless because it's free and mass of people weighs level down. Same thing but less drastic is happening in USA: subsidies and general pressure that everyone has to go to uni.
Just get government out of the way, government isn't some fairy that helps everyone. It's made of specific people - politicians with very specific interests.
I'll be laughing when student loan will go to hell just like housing debt market did. It's clear that college bubble has to end but no one knows when exactly during next 5 years.
Sorry, I forgot last thing. :) Tyler Cowen had a graph of enrollment by faculty in USA in 70s and now. IT - same level, math - same level, physics - same level, engineering in general - same level, psychology - double or tripled, other easy specializations also rose a lot. All these people with bullshit degrees will have high expectations, lots of debt and no skills useful for job market. Remember, when government says it wants to help you should run.
PAUL RYAN IS A LIAR! PAUL RYAN DID NOT WORK THREE JOBS. Ryan's father died when Paul was only 16. Using the Social Security survivors benefits he received until his 18th birthday, he paid for his education at Miami University in Ohio, where he completed a bachelor's degree. Ryan worked as a marketing consultant for his family's construction business. Ryan Incorporated Central began as an earthmoving business created by his great-grandfather in 1884. #EASYMODE #SILVERSPOON #SPOILEDBRAT #LOSER
@electronicoffee I forgot. He also drove a weinermobile for oscar-meyer weiner company, another job that he was handed by a friend of daddy's for an easy weekend stint driving around getting attention, flirting with girls, and in general fucking around.
People need to wake up. I was saying a lot of the same things people on here are saying but I learned what's really going on. Government loaning out money is trouble, research it further then what the girl on this talking about.
@JEFF9K So fucking what? It still has an impact on the mindset of the christian right. Again: Atheism has nothing to do with economics. It is solely the rejection of theist claims, that's all.
@JEFF9K Look, basically I don't give a shit, which christian denomination deems the other unchristian. But even if it was theologically speaking unchristian, that still doesn't make it atheistic; that's simply a false dichotomy. Just because YOU see the world in black and white, doesn't mean that it IS black and white.
@leungchaan . . . The point is that Republicans are getting elected by tricking people into thinking that they act in a Christian manner. When enough people realize that Republicans are really un-Christian, they will stop electing them. Republican economic policies are based on the selfish, atheistic philosophy of Ayn Rand.
@JEFF9K You don't get it, do you? Atheism is the rejection of theistic claims. An atheist can be liberal, libertarian, republican, socialist, democrat... There's no homogenous atheist doctrine; that's the beauty of it. Just because Ayn Rand was an atheist, doesn't make her economic ideas atheistic and I don't have to affiliate with her ideas. If you really want to preach, that republican economics are unchristian, go and preach to right-wing christians. You're barking up the wrong tree here.
@leungchaan .... You are the one who doesn't get it. My point is as clear as can be. Just because Rand is an atheist doesn't make her economic ideas atheist. Her economic ideas are informed by total selfishness, which is in conflict with all major religions. You are pretty conceited if you my general comments on the subject are addressed to YOU.
@JEFF9K Fuck you for trying to paint me as an egoist here, you disingenuous fuck. You clearly address atheists in general and try to define selfishness as a general atheist property and therefore barking upon the tree of atheists in general. But I'm not letting you get away with it. Again: Atheism is NOT a religion and has no values attached to it. Saying "selfishness is an atheist property, because it is in conflict with most religious doctrines" is a blatant non-sequitur. Asshole.
@leungchaan . . . . You painted yourself as an egoist by centering the discussion on yourself instead of the subject at hand. I have nothing against atheists. My argument is with Republicans getting elected by misrepresenting themselves as champions of Christianity but pushing an anti-Christian economic system. Since Republican economics is totally selfish, it is at odds with all religions, and is, therefore, anti-religious, or atheistic by general understanding of the term ...
@JEFF9K I didn't center the discussion on myself, asshole. From the beginning, I was arguing against your general misrepresentation of atheism as an antithesis to christianity/religion, which it is NOT and I clearly showed you, where you are wrong, but you continue to spout your fucking religious propaganda. If you believe, that the economic ideas of the republicans are unchristian (=/= "atheistic"), then go and tell THEM! You won't find many republicans among the TYT audience (wrong tree).
@JEFF9K And btw, I get your point, but I don't agree with it at all. Laissez-faire capitalism is NOT atheistic by nature. Don't blame everything you deem negative in this world on atheism. Just because atheists refuse to believe theistic claims doesn't mean they therefore only care about themselves. Altruism and empathy are biological dispositions, which have nothing to do with religion. Religion adopted it, because it is human by nature, since humans are a very social species.
Paul Ryan is the son of a Lawyer and received social security benefits to pay his way through college. He had the benefit of growing up in an Upper middle socio-economic class and then received public money to pay his way through college. I guess he doesn't want future generations to have the same benefits and opportunities that he received.
I smell an agenda. 'Lets take out loans and work 3 jobs after school so we can pay 18% interest rate on a loan where the principal loam amount is still the same after 10 years of steady payments.'
God knows the $5500 is just too much student welfare, but lets cut the bank a fat million dollar check.
I wonder which big bank is cutting this loser a check.
@TheMango121 True and I agree with that. If we basically cut of funding the prices would come down more, but in doing that you screw this generation who want to go to University while we 'staves' out the universities.
The next thing is the wealthy will just buy all the places as suddenly they will accept people with ANY grades as long as they can pay and that is disastrous on so many levels.
A lot of the outrage is at the hypocrisy too, ppl like Ryan say NOTHING about say 'farm subsidies'.
We have an overabundance of bachelor kids. We need more manufacturing jobs and more people willing to do the "uncool work". The only way to invite work back to this country is to eliminate minimum wage, cut back regulation and lower taxes for businesses so these jobs can come back from overseas. Sadly this will never happen.
@TheMango121 Even if wages only covered employee food they would still be >> China. No America can be cheaper than $2/day no matter how much you cut minimum wage. Any unskilled labour will come back to robots, any skilled labour that comes back needs higher education....
"cut back regulation" - What regulation?
"lower taxes" - So then lower all the infrastructure and security that taxes support? That's the main benefit between a factory in the west VS the developing world.
@calimar28 I love how you've turned the moral hazard of banking into a consumer Responsibility.
A Government backed loan is an instrument of lenders behest, not a client. How are they 'less responsible' because upon default, they still loose everything, but their remaining shortfall they would never have to pay anyway is paid for by the Gov?!
If you can't afford to loose it, don't lend it. Or lend it anyway and sell it to someone else or ask AIG to insure it.....
@CmdrTobs You miss the point. The goverment should not be backing those loans. Now it is the goverment...AKA the taxpayer, who is on the hook for 1 trillion in bad student loans. If they were not govt backed, the banks would not loan to many of these people.
@ttzz2003 I would cry if that was what I had to pay instead of more than twice that, PER YEAR.
Not counting books, currently for four years assuming I pay 3500 for one year, I'll end up paying 14000 total as opposed to 6400 total at 1600/year. If this a joke, Paul Ryan is a douche.
Lets see, I go to a University, spend about $5,000 a semester (and that's cheap) didn't and still don't qualify for grants or scholarships of any kind even though I had a 3.0 GPA in high school and made the dean's list last year. I had to search constantly for 3 years to find the minimum wage job I have now, which I will make nowhere near enough to support myself and go to college. I'm dead tired, I have no time, and he wants to cut grants? I don't think so.
@TheMango121 Small town+Shitty Economy+College Student who lives an hour away and with very little work experience= not a lot of people want to hire me. The last job I had before this was in 2008, hocking perfume out the back of my car for three weeks before I quite because I was spending more on gas money than I was bringing in with the stupid perfume. That and the guy who hired me basically told me that college was the biggest waste of money ever and would not work around my schedule.
@calimar28 "How is it the taxpayers responsability to pay for someones college? Is that in the constitution?"
It's in the preamble:
"We the People (that's you), in Order to form a more perfect Union, . . . promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity (your fellow citizens) . . ."
Yeah, I worked three jobs to keep my bills and student loans current...until one evening, when i had a case of sleep deprivation, I T-boned a sedan that had three women and a baby in it. No one was hurt, but both cars were totaled.
I let my student loans default...but there are no dead babies because of that.
Why is anyone surprised at anything the GOP does or suggests anymore?
The GOP's purpose is to destroy the average American because their corporate masters tell them to do so. You can tell that they're lying the moment they open their mouths.
I think all the Republicans failed Economics 101, I mean I'm not an economics major I just studied a lot of history in highschool and I know that when you make a loan you are essentially creating money that didn't exist before, and if the lower class' keeps getting poorer and poorer they will need more and more loans to pay for the things they need and that will lead to horrible inflation, which is bad for everybody.............. idiots......
And realize what they are doing to the future generations. And I know for a fact there are more ppl who are worse off than me. I know others who have degrees in good fields but have been laid off or can't find a job. I guess I can say I'm bless to receive a lil income, but I'm still struggling. The leaders should be ashamed for letting this happen!
Tuition is expensive as Hell. I have a degree from Michigan state last year n still do not have a full time job. I'm work 1pt n 1 on call job at a construction comp n Chrysler respectfully. I decided to go to grad school earlier this year just so the student loan ppl would stop calling me n to increase my chances of getting a better job. Not to mention I have a 8 month baby n other bills to take care of. This country is fucked. I just wish the old mfs running this country would open their eyes n
Perhaps people commenting here should go to school to learn about Supply & Demand. School is so expensive because there guaranteed loans that pay for it. Imagine what would happen to the cost of a car if every kid was guaranteed an auto loan; they'd sky rocket.
Kids should go to work in entry level jobs and build a career from the bottom up. I'm a 31 yo Avionics Engineer who worked my way up to start an aviation company. I'm from a poor home and never went to college. It can be done.
I attend Berkeley. Tuition for the year is $12,000. Rent, on average, is $500 a month even if you share a room. I have had a job for two years. The more money I need, the more I work, the less time I have to study and have a "college experience".
lol, even IF you could work 40 hours a week on top of schoolwork (which I do know some people do), good luck finding 3 jobs for every student in America during recession. Might as well kiss your grades goodbye too, i work 25 hours a week and find college stressful.
Don't worry the banks and gov. can help you out! -with interest.....
This is a poor tax and another attack on the middle class.... what a jackass, I hate Paul Ryan.
with pell grant and all that good stuff, i still gotta pay 16k a year. With this guy, ill die in debt and never get the life i fucking went to college for in the first place -____-
@lapugenero Lol i think we do cause whenever i talk french or talking about Quebec i always get a look like fuck you or they diss Quebec , im not even from Quebec or anywhere close to it
$35,000 a year? Please, I would LOVE to pay $35,000 a year. Tuition at all the schools I'm looking at is $45,000 to $60,000 a year, not including room and board. I can't afford that, and that's why I'm going to have to go to a school I probably won't like and probably won't give me the education I want. Damn the east coast sucks balls if you're middle class.
I know, it sound ridiculous, but you would be surprised at how much schools cost. It's especially Liberal Arts colleges on the east coast from what I've seen.
In this cases such as these ad hominem attacks are warranted. Please look at Paul Ryan's background and you can clearly see his opinions are very biased and quite cynical.
Hint: college expenses were never a concern for him or his family unlike the average student trying to get ahead.
Taking over the pork barrel student loan program is one of the few good things that came out of the Obama Administration, I have no idea what planet Raul Ryan is on.
its just a plot to get others down like the guy said the gap between the lower class and the upper class keeps growing because the upper class has all of the control and are trying to eliminate competition between them and other people
There is so much to say on this subject. For one, where are you going to find one job today, let alone three. Today is far from Paul Ryan's time. Two, professors, and administrators are cushy fat cats compaired to the average worker. No wonder tuition is thru the roof. Yet, can you find one who thinks they are over-paid? The whole system has become sickening. Then there are the greedy banks, the for profit collages, and on and on. Sickening!
the problem is that all the good scholarships always go to the black students who just drop out anyways. I wish i could get half of what those black students get.
Because not only is that statement inflammatory (intentionally of course), but it is one of those things called a big god damned lie.
Black folks have enough problems already. Assholes like you blame them for the housing mortgage crisis I am sure. And now you are blaming them for the lack of scholarships? By the way, are you on your way to pick up your white sheets and hood from the cleaners for tonight's cross burning?
@FlatulenceFox it's not racist if it's true. just look at the drop out rate for black students then look at how many scholarships they get offered just because their black. yet you can't get a scholarships just for being white (know that's racist). I'm not say all black people are stupid. I'm just saying their are a lot more then whites. just spend one day in the inner city and you'll know what i mean.
@fte26 Look what up? I know for a fact that you are stating your own very biased and ignorant opinions and your goal is purely racist in nature. Don't try to make up facts and tell me to look it up.
Here is a fact you can look up there are literally tens of thousands of scholarships given out annually in this country to students of all backgrounds (yes, even whites). But why deal with facts that are easily verified when you can make up your own, right? look up educationstart . org.
Making way less than the median income at the time, I paid for my own two bachelor's degrees with no loans, no scholarships (hard to find for non-traditional students, despite a perfect GPA) and NO DEBT. The problem is that people are CHOOSING to get degrees that cost more than they can pay, are unwilling to research the hundreds of ways to save money (umm... CLEP anyone?? Community College?), and get degrees in Fluffonomics and can't get jobs doing anything financially stable.
@RealityGrapple I reject the statement that most people don't need a college degree given the unemployment rate among those with ONLY a high school diploma (9.7%) vs those with a college degree (4.2%). Even those people with some college or an associates degree have an 8.4% unemployment rate, double that of people who finished college. Back in 1950, you could get a good middle income job with a decent pension with only a high school degree.
@shalcall That statistic is BS. At least half of all students these days are non-traditional, which means that they are most likely already employed before they get their degrees. In a very high percentage of cases, these people are getting degrees to further a career they are already in. It's not the degrees that are getting people jobs, it's the jobs that are getting people degrees.
Degree = Job is not a formula for success, but unfortunately it has become a self-fulfilling prophesy.
@Ant1Live Oh really? I suppose you have a source to back up your claim or are you just basing this on anecdotal evidence? Degree = Job is a very good formula for employment. Success is a subjective word.
@shalcall Wow. You've been taken in by the brainwashings of guidance counselors. One of the biggest problems facing the future of this economy is that people expect more and "education" for less skilled and less paid work. You want a good job? Become a garbage man. They make more than a Psychology major ever will.
I learned my job skill the autodidact way and am MUCH better at it than people who have formal training in it. Yes, I have a degree now, but only because I wanted more money.
@HomleandSecurity, I wish being a moron was un-constitutional. BTW anything from Europe is a horrible idea? so I guess that big ass statue in NY is a eye sore?
@TheDalinkwent. Don't pay attention to HomleandSecurity. He's a psycho, loser and liar that comes on TYT to act like he's better than everyone else, lie about how "rich" and "powerful" he is and make empty threats.
Ryan did not work three jobs, SS survivor benifits paid his college. He did not pay for his college, ask him for the details, he can't give you any. Ryan like all reich wingers is a lying traitor for WS.
FUCK THAT KID...IF HE DIDNT HAD A REBUTTAL TO PAUL RYAN...THE SCHOOL SYSTEM FAILED ALREADY...FUCKING IDIOT...COULNDNT EVEN DEFEND HIS CASE ...FUCK ...AT LEAST HE SHOULD THROWED A SHOE AT PAUL RYAN
@MonacoLager1 If GOP wins full blown majority in 2012, we'll end up being a true Facist nation... like Italy prior to WWII w/ big businesses running everything behind the scenes...
Come to Finland! First nine years are 100% including education, books, pens, hot meal, school rides etc. Starting from upper secondary (aka high school) education and meals are still free. You have to pay for ride, books and pen, but you get free apartment and what we call: STUDENT BENEFITS!
Basically government pays you about 200€ a month for studying. It is not a loan...
Republicans no longer even feel the need to pretend they wanna do anything to help the working class get ahead. They understand that the future of this class is serfdom, and that the only needs they have to care to are those of the future lords in the feudalism that is the american future
@659851 Nice. I'm in Calgary Alberta. Tuition for me is roughly 6000$/year (with a full 5-course load every semester). 525$ per course plus whatever other fees they tack on. I'm worried because it has increased 32% over the last 8 years. I plan to be in school for a long time yet, wonder where this is going! At least I have the option of taking out low interest government student loans.
@intotheinfinite You guys are being taken for a ride with these tuition costs. Can't you see? - this is another bubble. Drop out, work an entry level job, then go to school after the education bubble bursts and school tuition is pennies on the dollar. Tweet @canaanav
It's not that expensive... I believe that for you guys (the rest of canada) it's a little bit more expensive but you have more grant (or ''bourse'' in french, meaning loans that you don't pay back..) Anyway, I agree with you that it's concerning that the cost is going up like that... If you plan on studying that long you're probably going post-graduate and can probably give a couple lessons to graduate students and make good monney.
Says in wiki that ryan received social security until he was 18 then went to work as a marketing manager in his families construction business. Can't imagine he's ever had to look to hard to fund anything
God bless those Chilean protesters that are giving the Reich Wing president problems. They want a free education and are not giving an inch.....our Democrats can learn about negotiating from them.
So he's saying that loan debt--let's run it up because they're gonna pay it anyway and get more jobs--WHICH I WILL VOTE AGAINST THOUGH I RAN ON THE PLATFORM! Asinine indeed
Paul Ryan collected social security survivor's benefits until age eighteen, which he saved for college tuition and expenses... "welfare queen"
Ryan graduated from Miami University in Ohio and reportedly worked as a marketing consultant to an earth-moving company run by a branch of his family...
And these are the people who have the nerve to act like everyone should just take care of themselves. This shit pisses me off.
Ryan is the proto-typical sniveling little shit that used to snitch to the teacher about everything that occurred on the playground. Probably used to volunteer to be hall monitor, and couldn't understand why he went home every night with a bloody nose, underwear up around his armpits, and sand burrs in his hair.
$35,000 per year?? Man, I don't even think we charge International students that here in Canada, & they're practically completely unfunded by the gov't... too bad the USA's not a socialist country like Canada, eh? :-P
Recently, Sweden made non-EU citizens pay full fee for university education, which certainly has it's positive sides like removing those abusing the hospitality, but it's about 10 000 US dollars per term, 20 000 per year.
And there are plenty of scholarships to get, especially from partner countries like China and Cuba.
.
The other way around, for me to go study one year in the U.S, it costs me housing and food, nothing else.
"Unsustainable" Borrowed Money" Ah, where were you when the war funding was being passed every month? Paul Ryan is just another crazy conservative that has a short time left in politics, his way of thinking is soon gone and this is why with each passing day we will hear even more crazy shit coming from the mouths of people like him.
The GOP is near death, they will do everything to stall progress until they are dead, dead, dead.
I wonder how many in the entitlement crowd know and appreciate what it takes for people to set up a small business, the years of savings, the 16/18 hr days, the huge risks.
I paid off my student loans quickly, got a high paying job, made a lot of sacrifices.
now comes a community organizer, and his radical freeloading pals who want to increase my taxes, tell me I'm greedy?? fuckasses!!
@genie0390 How much did you have in student loans? Did your parents help you pay it off? What kind of sacrifices did you have to make? What was your degree in and how soon did you get this high paying job after graduation? For that matter. when did you graduate? Not everyone is the same, dude. 100% of college grads aren't going to be able to pay off their loans quickly. Luckily, we live in a democracy that also (supposedly) cares about the needs of the few too and is willing to help when needed.
@mchlawilliams. Don't pay attention to genie03900. He's a child and proves it by acting like he's better than everyone else and posting racism, fear mongering, insults and lies on all TYT videos. He does this because he can't debate like an adult, backup what he says with facts and doesn't have the balls to make a video showing his face or talk to peole face to face the way he does on TYT.
@genie0390 Can't wait for the day you're taxed above 50% and capital gains are eliminated. I guess I shouldn't say "you're" because you have no money, you're probably living with your parents or grandparents. You come on here pretending to be intellectual and rich and it's getting old. You're a troll, and I have done everything I can do to get people on here to STOP replying to you, but it's worthless. You're that bug buzzing around our heads that we need to slap away every now and then. Thanks
I've developed a foolproof plan for Obama to ensure his re-election: Invite Paul Ryan to a photo op at the Rose Garden and then beat the living hell out of this weasely little fuck on live TV.....
The United states is in such a bad economy. I hear that 1000's of American citizens try to cross the American boarded into Canada each day! , But often they'll get caught. I say just take away their guns and let them through.
Sometimes it feels so good to live in Europe.

Paul Ryan is a complete moron and I'd say it to his face.
They need to make education more affordable so people don't have to get saddled with a crushing debt just to get an education.
BTW the most ironic thing it still costs less to send someone to a university then put them in jail.

Bossblack13 1 month ago
@Bossblack13 Yes, I did and I didn't go to college to USA. :) I went to uni in country where normal type of studies is totally free. It's getting more and more pointless because it's free and mass of people weighs level down. Same thing but less drastic is happening in USA: subsidies and general pressure that everyone has to go to uni.
Just get government out of the way, government isn't some fairy that helps everyone. It's made of specific people - politicians with very specific interests.

I'll be laughing when student loan will go to hell just like housing debt market did. It's clear that college bubble has to end but no one knows when exactly during next 5 years.
mootant 1 month ago
Sorry, I forgot last thing. :) Tyler Cowen had a graph of enrollment by faculty in USA in 70s and now. IT - same level, math - same level, physics - same level, engineering in general - same level, psychology - double or tripled, other easy specializations also rose a lot. All these people with bullshit degrees will have high expectations, lots of debt and no skills useful for job market. Remember, when government says it wants to help you should run.

@JEFF9K So fucking what? It still has an impact on the mindset of the christian right. Again: Atheism has nothing to do with economics. It is solely the rejection of theist claims, that's all.
leungchaan 4 months ago
@leungchaan . . . .. The so-called "Christian" right is stupidly electing these people who espouse a very un-Christian form of capitalism.
JEFF9K 4 months ago
@JEFF9K Look, basically I don't give a shit, which christian denomination deems the other unchristian. But even if it was theologically speaking unchristian, that still doesn't make it atheistic; that's simply a false dichotomy. Just because YOU see the world in black and white, doesn't mean that it IS black and white.
leungchaan 4 months ago
@leungchaan . . . The point is that Republicans are getting elected by tricking people into thinking that they act in a Christian manner. When enough people realize that Republicans are really un-Christian, they will stop electing them. Republican economic policies are based on the selfish, atheistic philosophy of Ayn Rand.
JEFF9K 4 months ago
@JEFF9K You don't get it, do you? Atheism is the rejection of theistic claims. An atheist can be liberal, libertarian, republican, socialist, democrat... There's no homogenous atheist doctrine; that's the beauty of it. Just because Ayn Rand was an atheist, doesn't make her economic ideas atheistic and I don't have to affiliate with her ideas. If you really want to preach, that republican economics are unchristian, go and preach to right-wing christians. You're barking up the wrong tree here.
leungchaan 4 months ago
@leungchaan .... You are the one who doesn't get it. My point is as clear as can be. Just because Rand is an atheist doesn't make her economic ideas atheist. Her economic ideas are informed by total selfishness, which is in conflict with all major religions. You are pretty conceited if you my general comments on the subject are addressed to YOU.
JEFF9K 4 months ago
@JEFF9K Fuck you for trying to paint me as an egoist here, you disingenuous fuck. You clearly address atheists in general and try to define selfishness as a general atheist property and therefore barking upon the tree of atheists in general. But I'm not letting you get away with it. Again: Atheism is NOT a religion and has no values attached to it. Saying "selfishness is an atheist property, because it is in conflict with most religious doctrines" is a blatant non-sequitur. Asshole.
leungchaan 4 months ago
@leungchaan . . .
JEFF9K 4 months ago
@JEFF9K I didn't center the discussion on myself, asshole. From the beginning, I was arguing against your general misrepresentation of atheism as an antithesis to christianity/religion, which it is NOT and I clearly showed you, where you are wrong, but you continue to spout your fucking religious propaganda. If you believe, that the economic ideas of the republicans are unchristian (=/= "atheistic"), then go and tell THEM! You won't find many republicans among the TYT audience (wrong tree).
leungchaan 4 months ago
@JEFF9K And btw, I get your point, but I don't agree with it at all. Laissez-faire capitalism is NOT atheistic by nature. Don't blame everything you deem negative in this world on atheism. Just because atheists refuse to believe theistic claims doesn't mean they therefore only care about themselves. Altruism and empathy are biological dispositions, which have nothing to do with religion. Religion adopted it, because it is human by nature, since humans are a very social species.
leungchaan 4 months ago
Paul Ryan is the son of a Lawyer and received social security benefits to pay his way through college.

@CmdrTobs
TheMango121 4 months ago
@TheMango121 Even if wages only covered employee food they would still be >> China. No America can be cheaper than $2/day no matter how much you cut minimum wage. Any unskilled labour will come back to robots, any skilled labour that comes back needs higher education....
"cut back regulation" - What regulation?
"lower taxes" - So then lower all the infrastructure and security that taxes support? That's the main benefit between a factory in the west VS the developing world.

Govt backed loans shouldnt even exist.
If you cant pay it back, dont borrow it. Responability 101.
calimar28 4 months ago
@calimar28 I love how you've turned the moral hazard of banking into a consumer Responsibility.
A Government backed loan is an instrument of lenders behest, not a client. How are they 'less responsible' because upon default, they still loose everything, but their remaining shortfall they would never have to pay anyway is paid for by the Gov?!
If you can't afford to loose it, don't lend it. Or lend it anyway and sell it to someone else or ask AIG to insure it.....
CmdrTobs 4 months ago
@CmdrTobs You miss the point. The goverment should not be backing those loans. Now it is the goverment...AKA the taxpayer, who is on the hook for 1 trillion in bad student loans. If they were not govt backed, the banks would not loan to many of these people.

Ant1Live 4 months ago
@RealityGrapple I reject the statement that most people don't need a college degree given the unemployment rate among those with ONLY a high school diploma (9.7%) vs those with a college degree (4.2%). Even those people with some college or an associates degree have an 8.4% unemployment rate, double that of people who finished college. Back in 1950, you could get a good middle income job with a decent pension with only a high school degree.
You need college degree today for that.
shalcall 4 months ago
@shalcall That statistic is BS. At least half of all students these days are non-traditional, which means that they are most likely already employed before they get their degrees. In a very high percentage of cases, these people are getting degrees to further a career they are already in. It's not the degrees that are getting people jobs, it's the jobs that are getting people degrees.
Degree = Job is not a formula for success, but unfortunately it has become a self-fulfilling prophesy.
Ant1Live 4 months ago
@Ant1Live Oh really? I suppose you have a source to back up your claim or are you just basing this on anecdotal evidence? Degree = Job is a very good formula for employment. Success is a subjective word.

Says in wiki that ryan received social security until he was 18 then went to work as a marketing manager in his families construction business. Can't imagine he's ever had to look to hard to fund anything

Most universities in Norway have a tuition fee of about $177. Your tuition fees are insane.

God bless those Chilean protesters that are giving the Reich Wing president problems. They want a free education and are not giving an inch.....our Democrats can learn about negotiating from them.

@StevenBee2 ---
i thought that too, xD
.

@underbjorn
20,000 dollars per year is nothing compared to the 100,000 we have to spend here.

Financing things for middle class Americans is quite a racket for corporations.

Paul Ryan is ALL about Class War.

I wonder how many in the entitlement crowd know and appreciate what it takes for people to set up a small business, the years of savings, the 16/18 hr days, the huge risks.
I paid off my student loans quickly, got a high paying job, made a lot of sacrifices.
now comes a community organizer, and his radical freeloading pals who want to increase my taxes, tell me I'm greedy?? fuckasses!!
genie0390 4 months ago
