  • Hey Hauraunah, I submitted some comments on the "My 5 facts....Setbacks in the black community posted by twalk 2008. I challenge and invite anyone who can read this to read my comments and respond. I think outside of the matrix and I feel that I have a greater wisdom than most people you see on TV because I have done extensive research on my people and our problems.

  • Thank you this is very true

  • @NappyHalo

Thank you! I still feel strongly about this.

  • black actually have 36 color tone and whites only have 12

  • bet is trash for the most part me nor any of my black friends or family members even watch it...my favorite station is pbs!

  • @Dawn0564

    So true.

  • wow..

Black people are not color struck for no reason..

and we dont control our images/portrayals in the media. i.e Alicia Keys.

Its a sad thing BUT just remember where it came from and that way we can combat it better

  • BET is not our anymore sister

  • I keep forgetting that sad sad detail. Thank God I don't have cable.

  • I think as people, we tend to focus on the negativies instead of the positives. Yes there is alot of bad things happening in the 'ghettos', not the 'black' community, and they should be fixed, however ,there is a lot of good happening with black people this is overlooked. Alot of things that black people have accomplished in the technological, and science fields that are being overlooked. All I see is people talking about the negatives but not looking for the positives to also see the whole.

  • That is very true, but we aren't at a stage in our existence where we can take a pause and enjoy the positive because for one baby step we're allowed we get kicked several giant steps back.

  • what stage? The 'black' people have done enough in your country. Every time you wake up , you are using alot of technology made by the 'black' man. What stage? The stage they set out for you. Look at the positives now, and the negatives. See the whole picture. Stop looking at your life from someonelse's point of view.

  • The stage where unless you read a book you know nothing of all the accomplishments of your people. The stage where even your grandmother can't tell you much about inventions or achievements because instead of teaching our good doings to our children ourselves we send them to low budget schools that cater to latino children so they can sit down and color MLK and think that's Black History.

  • Hauraunah

biggest set backs in the black community are people who think like you. you just posted a video talking about how black american are no good and african men are better and not hardly accomplishing anything.

they whoopi and alek famous because they are no threat. it has been proven that alot of white casting agents wont push black women that will upstage white women in looks.

  • What I said about Africans are true. Though being black in America is in no way easy, we don't realize how lucky we are and the majority of us don't take advantage of all we've fought for. Young girls in Africa die to go to school literally, with high percentages of chances that they'd be rape, murdered, or both on the way there. Almost all the kids I went to school with bitch about it. We sit in the black of class and on the back of the bus. Africans in general are better.

  • No sistas are not feelin light skinned brothas. Maybe the ones that are on tv. Yes u r kinda clowin light skinned folks, and not too long ago u were considered light too

  • I see where you're coming from. Now is the trend for liking dark men, but in the 90's is was all about the light skinned men. I'm sorry if you think I'm talking junk about light skinned blacks. I do realize that at time I'm considered light, but when near a light person I am way darker than them.

  • I'm sorry I meant that my middle cousin is a blue. I'm the oldest out of the three of us. Love you Ferren!

  • I agree with you 100%. color discrimination is a major issue, it's been that way for a long time. great video!

  • Thank you! I think this is a very serious and highly ignored problem, mainly because we're so used to doing it without even noticing.
