this is one of my favorite versions, the poor quality of the sound really takes away from how powerful Caleb Peterson's voice actually is...still thank you for the upload could listen to this version a million times
No exactamente del film, Show Boat es una obra musical presentada en Broadway en la década de 1920 y escrita por Jerome Kern. Posteriormente Hollywood la adoptó.
Caleb Peterson is the name of the actor playing Joe in this clip. (I wonder if that is his singing voice or if he was dubbed. Mr. Peterson's other credits are all as an actor, none as a singer.)
This is from the MGM Technicolor musical biopic of Jerome Kern called "Till the Clouds Roll By". The movie features a lengthy "Show Boat" sequence which was in some ways a dry run for the complete 1950 MGM film of "Show Boat".
William Warfield singing "Old Man River" was much better in the 1950 movie, but Lena Horne's contributions as Julie in "Clouds" are greatly missed in the later film.
i went to see this play. but it was a bad version. just to put it frankly. it should not be seem by little children or if u dont want to be scared for life. the version i saw was the one that sucked.
This song is a timeless gem. This version, like all of them, is beautiful. Another great version is the 1945 recording by Frank Sinatra. I get shivers each time I hear this wonderful tune.

baritone at its best

Indeed a powerful version, very lyrical.
I however would prefer one of the stand-alones, where the baritone can really shine by himself. This is good, tho, it's good.

This is *not* Paul Robeson. Robeson did popularize the song, though.
