yes, i'd like to learn how to throw discus! im a thrower but im not very expert in shot put and discus! i throw javelin! but they have a fracture in my elbow! so only discus and shot put only!
Im 15 and throw 40 mtrs or 132 ft with no training or weights. im only 177cm tall but weigh 90Kg and i use a spin i tried to copy so its probably bad, We use a 1kg discus (Should start training or weight lifting to help)
We can't know until we know if you are strong enough to throw farther. For some 14 yo's, this is the limit of their strength. Are you lifting weights? Do you do sprint training? Do you stretch?
28 meters is very good for 14. But since you are lifting nearly every day, you might be strong enough to throw farther. I assume you are throwing a 1 kg. If you are throwing a larger discus, this is excellent for your age.
You cannot just doing it by throwing. You must do drills and you must get strong. Do South Africans for practice sprinting across the circle. Do slow starts out of the back of the circle to make sure your weight is over your left leg (if you throw right). Screw your right foot into the center of the circle -- don't let it top turning. And keep your chin up. When I get the 13-15 year olds I coach to do those four things, they throw 30-33 meters within a month.
try putting your index finger and middle finger together on the rim of the disc. also make sure you have pressure on your thumb so it flies flat. these tings helped me alot. try them.
when you spin, you need to go slow at the back of the circle, but then after your first step, you need to accelerate. too much speed at the back will just get you off balance and throw you off (you'll foul, too)
yall want to know something impressive. I got 1st in region and made state without even showing up. and i am not lieing. You dont have to belive me but i did.
in college and beyond it doesnt matter where you enter just as long as you dont touch outside the ring and exit out the back half of the ring. where u enter doesnt matter.
well i got 2nd at district in 7th grade and ima senior now but in 7th the winner got 113ft and i got 105ft 3in. but you dont need to worry about ur distance until u feel good about ur power and spin
um....well when you say "slower" it depends on how slow, If you can spin really fast with good balance then.... But I think you mean if you try to spin faster than you are capable of spinning
wat matters the most is if you land in your power position with balance right b4 you throw.. if you dont have that aspect of the throw down rite there then you dont have crap...
you're right. all i meant was i have seen too many discus throwers not throw as well as they could because they try putting all their power into their spin.
Virgilijus Alekna (LTU) today in Kaunas has won his 37 victory in a row 71.56 (a total discus throw leader since 2005, first places in every championship). Gerd Kanter (EST) second place (70.92) and Piotr Malachowski (POL) thrid place (66.61) it was his best personal result ever.
he is talking about the USA HS record and it is 234 thrown b7y Nick Arrhenius. I got hurt at the end of my senior season but I threw 190'in the disc and 210 in the jav. I can't compete @ nationals because of my torn UCL. Never give up, train hard and throw far. breaux greers hs PR was like 195'.
People develop at different rates. In my event, the guy who is now the best in the world was my equal in high school, but now he is much better than I am. He worked harder during college and afterward than I did, or he just kept getting better for other reasons. If you want it enough, keep at it. You may get lucky.
Guy a few years ago when my sister was in highschool. Threw 203 in Discus and 70 even for shot put. Don't believe me? Look up Ryan Whiting PIAA State Champion. Im sure you will get some nice hits on that
I agree....I met Schmidt at the 79' world cup, geting on the subway with the EG team. Then again at the games in Seoul in 88'. Sad to know that the time in between he was imprisoned by his own country for having friends in the west.
Virgilijus Alekna and ROMAS UBARTAS is geatests, unreal sport stars.. but others is realy good too! I am discus thrower, like them.. I will try become that good like any of this stars ;D maby you all will see my own videos soon ;D

Robert fazekas at 1:11 is my favorite. if u blink u miss the throw!

yea dude. My coach taught me to go slow. But i might consider going fast like fazekas. I feel like I'm putting more energy into the throw.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
speed is not what you need when throwing a disc. you will actually throw farther if you spin slower because you will have better balance.
