you need to turn the back two knobs off and leave the front two on and then switch between it really quickly i hope this helps

@tom050162 Just a small possible correction? Im pretty sure you dnt need to kick down both knobs for one of the pickups. Seeing as how on a Les Paul you should have two knobs dedicated to Tone and two to Volume. Tone doesn't do anything if the Volume knob for the same pickup is turned down. So yea, just locate the two volume knobs, turn one all the way down and use the pickup switch to go quickly between both pickups. That way if you need to use both pickups you only have one knob to turn up
